A fabulous Friday is on tap. We take a peek at a competitive dirt mile in Ol' Kentucky.
Churchill Downs Race 5 {1 mile~3 year old Up~Allowance}
A splendidly talented group of eight will march to the gate in this allowance feature in the Churchill Downs Fall opener. There is a high level of speed to keep the pace moving swiftly. It should be a classically competitive Churchill race.
#4 Hard Aces (McMahon / L. Jones) could have the edge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and three strong peaking workouts. This fella may find himself in perfect position close to the pace and swoop through the stretch.
$2 SHOW.
#1 Strike One (Lanerie / Walsh) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number and three powerful peaking workouts. This guy has the versatility to show speed or back off and track the pace. In either case he shares the highest speed number over the dirt surface.
$2 SHOW.
Other Wagering Interests
#6 Drogue (Borel / Johnson) should contend with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four superb peaking workouts. This guy can be strategically placed in the field to motor home in convincing fashion.
#5 Grand Contender (Mena / Amoss) will show his need for speed with a couple of good last out speed numbers and one bullet workout. He is the one that shares the highest speed number over the surface. Surely a great contender in this feature race.
10 CENT Superfecta
#4 Hard Aces / #1 Strike One / #6 Drogue / #5 Grand Contender.
