Superfecta Sunday on Santa Anita Turf

 No better way to play on Sunday than to wager and watch Santa Anita Turf races.

A splendid field of eight will hit the grass in this annual affair.

There is enough speed among these ladies to keep the pace moving swiftly over the green. Speed numbers are super close making it any of these gals race. Half the field has not yet raced over the Santa Anita course. Our task is to whip together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. It should be an amazing race.

#10 Mucho Unusual (J. Velazquez / Yakteen) could go off as the favorite with the highest speed number at the distance and four superb workouts. This gal loves the Santa Anita course and should be tracking the field. A daughter of Mucho Macho Man, she is 70% in the money from seventeen career starts.

#4 Miss Teheran [IRE] (Rosario / C. Brown) should challenge with the highest (tie) last out speed number and one solid workout. She is another in the group of trackers that will be chasing the pace. This lady comes in from the East coast. A daughter of Teoflio [IRE], she is 66% in the money from six career starts. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#1 Rideforthecause (Rispoli / McCarthy) will contend with a decent last out speed number at a longer route and three hearty workouts. Again, another tracker in the mix. She comes in from Woodbine. A daughter of Candy Ride [ARG], she holds the second highest speed number at this distance.

#9 Zee Drop (Prat / D'Amato) should also be in the hunt for victory with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and two strong workouts. This gal should run closer to the pace than this group of trackers and get first run heading into the stretch. A daughter of Lemon Drop Kid, she is 54% in the money from eleven career starts.

Stakes Saturday Results

Fair Grounds R9.  Woodchopper Stakes.  Our first pick, Pixelate, won (1st) for win money of $2.70, place money of $3.60, and show money of $4.50.  Our second pick, Dynadrive, finished 3rd for show money of $7.80.  Our third pick, Bodecream, finished 2nd for show money of $2.80.  Our fourth pick, Spanish Kingdom, finished 4th.

We hit our Exacta Wheel for $10.90. We just missed the 10 CENT Superfecta which went 5-2-6-4.

Bankroll gets a lift to $40.42.

A Stakes Saturday at the Fair Grounds

 A great after Christmas day of racing from coast to coast and we look in on the racing at Fair Grounds down in New Orleans.

Fair Grounds Race 9 { Woodchopper Stakes~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Stakes}

A talented field of twelve will go to the gate in this contest.

This should be a very good race with a near full field going on good Turf. Speed numbers are very close, especially at the distance. There are a number of forwardly placed types willing to push a fast pace. Three are going from dirt to turf for the first time making the race even more intriguing. 

#5 Pixelate (Suarez / Stidham) might have the edge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route and three sound workouts. This colt has hit the board in all five of his races at this distance. He loves the surface and the Fair Grounds course. A son of City Zip, he is 84% in the money from thirteen career starts.

#6 Dynadrive (S. Bridgmohan / Maker) should take another step forward as he continues to improve in each of his last three races. This guy won in a longer route last out and has put in three dynamite workouts. Expect him to be in a tracking position. A son of Temple City, he is 81% in the money from eleven career starts.

# 2 Bodecream (Graham / Maker) should challenge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route and two solid workouts. This gelding is another tracker thrown into the mix. #4 Spanish Kingdom (B. Hernandez / Sharp) should contend with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route and three hearty workouts. This gelding should be forwardly placed ready to get first jump heading into the stretch. Fair Grounds R10.  Claiming. We only captured one of the four wagering interests required in our 10 CENT Superfecta Box play. Superfecta went 10-4-3-5.

Our Bronze Horseshoe runner, Inspector Eddie, finished 10th.

Bankroll takes another hit dropping to $9.52. We will supplement with some Christmas dough ( a Hamilton and a Lincoln) for today's race.

Superfecta Sunday in NOLA

 Off we go, virtually, on our Superfecta Sunday to that great track down in NOLA.

Fair Grounds Race 10 {6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~LA~Claiming}

A solid field of eleven Louisiana breds will go to the gate in this lucky last race on the card.

All of the entrants have raced over the Fair Grounds track. There is enough speed to maintain a speedy pace. Speed numbers are very close making it any one of these horses race to win. All are Louisiana bred geldings. Our task is to loop together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket. It should be a fantastic race to cap off a great weekend of racing in the "Big Easy".

#9 Inspector Eddie (S. Bridgmohan / Johnston) might have an edge as he takes up a position close to the pace. This guy has the third highest speed number at the distance and has put in a stout workout. He loves the distance and the Fair Grounds track. A son of Mineshaft, he is 68% in the money from sixteen career starts. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#8 Spring Value (Gilligan / S. Wilson) should challenge with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and two peaky workouts. This guy should close strongly with the right pace set-up. He does hold the highest (tie) speed number at the distance. A son of Interactif, he has six victories from thirty career starts.

#14 Philly (C. Hernandez / Bourgeois) will contend and could go off as the favorite. He holds the highest (tie) last out speed number at a slightly longer distance and one suitable workout. This guy does class-up nicely with this group as he should be forwardly placed among the pace setting crew. A son of Star Guitar, he is 51% in the money from thirty-three career starts.

#4 Freed Indeed (Marquez / Deville) should be in the mix with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and two peaking workouts. This guy is another that could be part of the pace scenario. A son of Midshipman, he does have the fourth highest average earnings per race of this bunch.

Gulfstream Park R10.  Ft. Lauderdale. Our first pick, Halladay, finished 7th.  Our second pick, Factor This, finished 8th.  Our third pick, Delaware [GB], finished 10th (last). Our fourth pick, Doswell, took 2nd for show money of $4.90.

We failed miserably on our Exacta Wheel effort and 10 CENT Superfecta ticket. Superfecta went 6-3-4-8.

Bankroll shrinks dramatically to $12.92.

Stakes Saturday in South Florida

 Off we go (virtually of course) to fabulous South Florida to wager and watch on an exciting graded stakes Turf race.

Gulfstream Park Race 10 {Ft. Lauderdale~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A solid field of ten will venture onto the green in this annual graded stakes race.

There is plenty of speedsters and forwardly placed types to maintain a heated pace. Speed numbers are fairly close with a number in here hitting the triple digit ranks. All appear to be well prepped and well rested to step into Gulfstream's championship season. It should be a stellar race.

#10 Halladay (L. Saez / Pletcher) could have the edge over this group with the second highest last out speed number and two hearty workouts. This guy is undefeated over the Gulfstream course in three races. Look for him to be part of the speedy crew upfront. A son of War Front, he is 80% in the money from fifteen career starts.

#9 Factor This (J. Ortiz / B. Cox) will challenge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed numbers and two strong workouts. He holds the highest speed number of the field at this distance. We failed in our Exacta Wheel effort. Superfecta went 2-11-1-4.

Bankroll gets flogged and drops to $11.12. We will supplement with a Hamilton and a Lincoln for today's race.

Stakes Saturday Down in NOLA

 On this Stakes Saturday we take a look at a fine Turf sprint stakes down in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Fair Grounds Race 9 {Pan Zareta Stakes~5 1/2 Furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Stakes}

A nice field of twelve ladies will race on the green in this annual affair.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

Only half the field has raced over the Fair Grounds Race Course. There is a plethora of speed as one would expect in these Turf sprints down in NOLA. Speed numbers are very close making it quite a competitive race. Most of these ladies will be firing fresh with a couple of them coming off extended layoffs. It should be a very exciting race.

#4 Play On (S. Bridgmohan / B. Cox) is coming off an extended layoff with the highest (tie) last out speed number and three stellar workouts. This gal loves the surface, distance, and Fair Grounds course. She should be forwardly placed among the speedsters. A daughter of Country Day, she is 63% in the money from eleven career starts.

#11 Into Mystic (Santana / B. Walsh) is likely to go off as the favorite sharing the highest last out speed number and putting in a sound workout.
