Great Racing in the Great Northwest

 On this Superfecta Sunday we go to the great Northwest for some great stakes action.

Emerald Downs Race 9 {Longacres Mile~1 mile~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

A talented field of ten will go to the gate in this annual event.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is plenty of speed to light up the pace. Speed numbers are fairly close. The invaders include two from the North in Canada and one from Southern California. All but these three have competed over the Emerald Downs track. Everyone of the field have competed successfully over the distance. It should be a prime race on an exceptional card.

#1 Arrowthegreat (Americano / Blacker) comes up from Del Mar to battle this erstwhile group. He has the tactical speed to adapt to the pace. This gelding holds the highest last out speed number and two superb workouts. He relishes the dirt and distance. It will be his first try over the Emerald dirt. A son of Arrogate, he is 58% in the money from seventeen starts.

$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#10 Apprehend (A. Perez / Heads) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer route and one dynamite workout. He comes in from Century Mile. Look for him to be forwardly placed. This guy excels over the dirt and distance. He is looking for his sixth win in a row. Another son of Arrogate, he is 73% in the money from fifteen starts.

#8 Slews Tiz Whiz (Couton / Wenzel) is the morning line favorite and deservedly so. He comes to the race with the third highest last out speed number and a bullet workout. This guy dominated the dirt, distance, and Emerald Downs track. Look for him to track the pace and explode into the stretch. A son of Slew's Tiznow, he is 77% in the money from twenty-seven starts.

#2 What a Dude (J. Gutierrez / M. Hernandez) should be battling on the front-end with the second highest last out speed number and one sound workout. He will be trying to make it four wins in a row. This lad loves the Emerald Downs track winning three of four races over it. A son of Hard Spun, he is 55% in the money from twenty-nine starts.

#5 Masen [GB] (Khelawan / MacPherson) will show speed at the release of the gates. He has recorded the highest speed number at the mile distance. Two bullet workouts add to his arsenal. This lad comes in from Hastings in Canada. He loves the dirt and distance. A son of Kingman [GB], he is 65% in the money from twenty starts.

#7 Clovisconnection (Krigger / Wright) has run very well on the dirt, at the distance and over the Emerald Downs track. He is another that has the tactical speed to stay the distance. This gelding has the highest speed number over the dirt and two solid workouts. A son of Vronsky, he is 76% in the money from twenty-one starts.

Longacres Mile on Superfecta Sunday

 We venture to the great Northwest (virtually, of course) to take in the famed Longacres Mile Stakes on a day with many great stakes races across the country.

Emerald Downs Race 8 {Longacres Mile~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

A excellent group of twelve will enter the gate in this annual contest.

Past Performances used:  DRF Formulator.

There is plenty of speed to launch a cracking pace. Speed figs are very close making it extremely competitive. A couple ship in for their first attempt over the Emerald dirt, Most have put in very strong workouts in preparation for this premiere race in the Great Northwest. It should be a stunning race.

#4 Background (G. Franco / Puhich) comes in to defend his win in last years race. He is a distance specialist at the mile. This gelding ran a respectable Beyer at a longer route in his last and has put in two superb workouts. He has the tactical speed to settle into whatever pace develops. A son of Khozan, he is 65% in the money from twenty career starts.

$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#8 Hard to Deny (Samuels / Trolani) is another with tactical speed holding an 83% in the money record at this distance and four supreme peaking workouts. A son of Hard Spun, he is 50% in the money from twenty career starts.

#10 Five Star General (Mawing / Harwood) in another with a fabulous in the money record of 80% at the distance. A sound workout preps him well for this race. A son of Distorted Humor, he is 66% in the money from twenty-one career starts.

#3 Majestic Eagle (Cannon / Drysdale) holds the highest last out speed number, albeit on the Turf, and four sensational peaking workouts. He has made his mark on the Turf and will try the Emerald dirt for the first time. A son of Medaglia d'Oro, he is 44% in the money from thirty-eight career starts.

 #2 Top Executive (E. Roman / Wright) will stretch out to this distance with a terrific workout tab of three works. Loves the Emerald dirt. Son of Street Boss, he is 63% in the money from eleven career starts.

#12 Papa's Golden Boy (Radke / Gibson) comes in off three in the money finishes in a row and two solid workouts. He will demonstrate his speed in this speed laden race. A son of Harbor the Gold, he is 51% in the money from twenty-one career starts.

Up North for Superfecta Sunday

An Oh Canada Superfecta Sunday in Toronto. We take in a super competitive classic Turf race up North of the border.

Woodbine Race 9 {Breeders Stakes~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Canadian Bred~ Stakes}

A fantastic field of eleven will hit the Canadian green in this classic distance Turf route.  There is plenty of speed and forwardly placed types to get the pace on. Speed numbers are very close giving any of these equine athletes a chance to walk into the winners circle. Our task is to knit together a winning 20 CENT Superfecta Box ticket.

#5 Conquest Daddyo (P. Husbands / Casse) might take advantage of a strong pace with the highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and one stout workout. This lad will be stretching out to this distance just like rest of the field. He loves the Woodbine course and the surface. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$4 SHOW.

#7 Amis Gizmo (Contreras / J. Carroll) will challenge sharing the highest last out speed number, working a four race progression, and putting in two sound workouts. This guy will be making the transition from dirt and synthetic to turf. He holds the highest in the money record of 87% from eight starts.

#8 Gotta Get Away (Da Silva / Pierce) should contend with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three superb workouts. He should be forwardly placed seeking to get first jump on the front running crew.

#1 Rocket Plan (S.P. Husbands / LeBlanc) might surprise with the fourth highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two sensational peaking workouts. He should track the pace closely and shoot into the stretch convincingly.

Our Bronze Horseshoe selection, Point Piper, won (1st) for show money of $6.00.
Bankroll gains a half dozen dimes to settle at $148.31.
