Pennsylvania Derby Day

 We look East for some great racing in the great state of Pennsylvania.

PARX Race 12 {Pennsylvania Derby~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A couple of defections have reduced this field to eight talented lads.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is enough speed and forwardly placed types to rev up the pace. Speed numbers are all fairly close, making this one competitive. Only one millionaire is in the field. It should be an exceptionally exciting race on a great day of racing across the country.

#8 Midnight Bourbon (Santana / Asmussen) looks to improve upon his second place finish in the Travers last out. He holds the third highest last out speed number and three dynamic peaking workouts. This guy should be forwardly placed in the thick of the battle. A son of Tiznow, he is 81% in the money from eleven career races.

$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#5 I Am Redeemed (Adorno / Pearce) is the local hope coming off of two wins in a row. He holds the second highest last out speed number and one solid workout. He should track the pace closely ready to strike in the stretch. A son of Redeemed, he is 100% in the money from four career starts.

$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#7 Hot Rod Charlie (Prat / O'Neill) looks to go off as the favorite. This millionaire will show his speed from the start. He holds the highest last out speed number and three sharp workouts. A son of Oxbow, he is 70% in the money from ten career starts.

$2 SHOW.

#10 American Revolution (L. Saez / Pletcher) could surprise as he has improved nicely in each of his last three races. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number and two sound workouts. This guy is another that should track the pace closely. A son of Constitution, he has a 75% win record (winning his last three) from four career starts.

#1 Fulsome (Geroux / B. Cox) and #4 Weyburn (P. Lopez / Jerkens) both are ready to battle and can hit the board. We will include them in our exotics.

Stakes Saturday in Pennsylvania

An exciting Stakes Saturday revolves around a superb running of the grade two Pennsylvania Derby.

Parx Race 11 {Pennsylvania Derby~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A highly talented group of eight three year-olds will make their way to the start of this terrific race.  Limited speed should make the race interesting with the favorites, Alpha and Golden Ticket, both trackers, coming out of the dead-heat Travers.  This race is one to watch and wager.

#8 Macho Macho (Nakatani / Asmussen) might have a slight edge for an upset with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and the absolute best workout tab of the group sporting four excellent peaking workouts.  He won at this distance last out.
$2 WIN / $3 SHOW.

#4 Alpha (Dominguez / McLaughlin) is the horse to beat with the highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and two explosive workouts.  This guy has run this distance well in two races holding the highest speed number.
$2 PLACE / $2 SHOW.

#2 Casual Trick (Elliott / Zito) could be the surprise with the third highest last out speed number and two efficient workouts.  He has two wins over the Parx track in two trys.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#6 Golden Ticket (Cohen / McPeek) should be in the mix sharing the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two robust workouts.  He has not yet run the distance, but has proven himself at longer.

10 CENT Superfecta

Turf Test at the Jersey Shore

It could be a little moist along the Jersey Shore as we conclude our horse racing weekend at the wonderful Monmouth Park.

Monmouth Park Race 10 {1 1/16 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~Allowance}
A good field of ten will step onto the grass for this race.  Most will be coming off a longer route in their last which should make for a competitive affair.  A battle between the forwardly placed and the closing types will ensue.

#4 Exclusive Strike (Lopez / Servis) will be the one to beat with the highest last out speed number, the highest speed number at the distance, and a two race progression.  Should be able to track the leaders and move forward in the stretch.  He has two drawbacks: no posted works and is approaching the ten race threshold.
No Value.

#9 Mustang Island (Trujillo / Simon) will mount a favorable challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number, the third highest speed number at the distance, and two bold workouts.  He should be another tracking the pace ready to strike.
$2 SHOW.

#3 Courage to Be (Ferrer / Sacco) is another that will challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two stout workouts.  He could press the leaders and swoop in during the stretch run.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#1 Bringbackthemagic (Cotto / DiMauro) could surprise with a decent last out speed number over a longer route, the third highest (tie) speed number at the distance, and one robust workout.  He could track and close into the pace.
