Superfecta Sunday at Santa Anita

Back in the Horse Racing Action after a brief respite, err layoff.

Today we look at a marathon Turf battle among the ladies at the "Great Race Place".

Santa Anita Park Race 6 {Santa Barbara Stakes~G3~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A quality group of nine ladies will hit the Turf for the long one in this contest. It comes up a little short on speed. Consequently, count on there being a serious quickening heading into the stretch. Speed figs are all very close giving a nice competitive feel to the race. Our task is to compile a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#1 Estrechada [ARG] (Elliott / Puype) looks like she might have the edge here with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number in a grade one event and four tremendous peaking workouts. She will be among the group battling for positon streaking toward the turn. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Evo Campo [IRE] (Bejarano / Gallagher) will challenge with the second highest last out speed number and four excellent peaking workouts. She may participate on the front end positioning from the gate. She already has a win at this distance in her only start going this long.

#2 Place des Vosges (Nakatani / Baltas) could go off as the deserved favorite with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three top-notch workouts. She will be part of the crew in the quickening.

#3 Dressed to a T (Prat / Cecil) should be in the mix with a couple of very good last out speed numbers where she finished in the money in both. Her workout tab prepping for this race is one of three stamina enriching works. She can be expected to battle to the end.

10 CENT Superfecta Box

Stakes Saturday at Magnificent Keeneland

A beautiful Spring day across the country and we look in those equines racing in Kentucky.

Keeneland Race 10 {Toyota Bluegrass Stakes~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A high quality field of seven will go to the gate in this annual Kentucky Derby prep race. There is a little speed to keep things moving efficiently. Speed numbers are fairly close for these talented horses. It should be one of the better Derby preps today as we close in on that first Saturday in May.

#4 Tapwrit (J. Ortiz / Pletcher) looks to have the advantage with the second highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and one solid workout. He should be tracking the pace closely ready to spring into the stretch. A son of Tapit, he comes up from Tampa Bay Downs.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#3 J Boys Echo (Albarado / Romans) should challenge with the highest last out speed number; the only triple digit in the field. He shows a three race progression and three superb workouts. This son of Mineshaft has already notched a victory at Keeneland and will relish this distance.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#1 Its Your Nickel (Graham / McPeek) could surprise with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a four race progression and three hearty workouts. He has already posted three wins from four starts and continues show improvement. A son of Dialed In, he is another that will track and close determinedly.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#2 McCraken (B. Hernandez / Wilkes) has nothing to prove as he has already earned a spot in KD 143. There is no question he will run a fine race, but he will be looking to peak on Derby day. He holds the third highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and four excellent peaking workouts. A son of Ghostzapper, he should be turning for home with the quickening gang.

10 CENT Superfecta

#4 Tapwrit  /  #3 J Boys Echo  /  #1 Its Your Nickel, #2 McCraken  /  ALL.

Superfecta Sunday on New Orleans Turf

We look at a good Turf contest down in New Orleans for Superfecta Sunday.

Fair Grounds Race 12 {7 1/2 furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~LA~Special Accredited Maiden Claiming}

A reduced field of eight will hit the Turf in this maiden race. There is sufficient speed to keep the pace rolling. Speed numbers are reasonably close for this group. Five in here will be making a surface switch from Turf to dirt for the first time hoping to shake them up a bit. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#3 Noisey Boy (Graham / Nicks) looks much the best and has the experience to notch the win. He holds the highest (tie) last out speed number at a mile route and one strong workout. He is 60% in the money at this distance while also holding the highest speed number at same. This could be his day to break his maiden. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$1 SHOW.

#1 Pancho's Lucky Boy (McMahon / Duhon) will be dropping in from a Maiden Special Weight race. He holds the second highest speed number at the distance as well as the second highest last out speed number at a mile route. Look for him to be tracking the pace.

#10 Coxswain (Valdivia / Faucheaux) should challenge, sharing the highest last out speed number, working a two race progression, and putting in one solid workout. He has the tactical speed to feel the pace out. He is one of those making the surface switch from dirt to Turf.

#9 Honest Oath (Martin / Gelner) could surprise as he also makes the surface switch. He holds the third highest last out speed number and a two race progression. This lad will be making his eight start.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

#3 Noisey Boy  +  #1 Pancho's Lucky Boy  +  #10 Coxswain  +  #9 Honest Oath.
