A Fast Turf Sprint for Stakes Saturday

 We go to that other wonderful City by the Bay for some excellent Turf sprint action for Stakes Saturday.

Tampa Bay Downs Race 8 {Lightning City Stakes~5 Furlongs~TURF~4 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Stakes}

A nice full field of twelve will hit the Turf in this annual affair. Two also eligibles sit in wait with long morning line odds.

There is a plethora of speed in this race which should produce a scintillating pace. Speed figs are very close giving a chance to any of these gals to visit the winners circle. Seven will hit the Tampa Turf for the first time. Only three will attempt this sprint distance for the first time. All seem to be well prepped. It should be an excitng race.

#2 Sol Hope (I. Ortiz / S.A. Joseph) has exceptional records on the Turf, at the distance, and over the Tampa Turf. She will be tracking the crew and strike heading into the stretch. She holds the second highest (tie) at this distance and has put in two sharp workouts. A daughter of Soldat, she is 73% in the money from nineteen starts.

#9 Great Venezuela (L. Reyes / Barboza) has the tactical speed to settle in nicely into the pace. She is undefeated at the distance in three races. She holds the fourth highest last out speed number at a mile distance and two hearty workouts. This gal comes in from Gulfstream. A daughter of Neolithic, she is 100% in the money from nine starts.

$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#6 Admiral Hopper (Centeno / Nixon) is another that comes from Gulfstream off the synthetic. She holds the third highest (3-way tie) last out speed number at a slightly longer sprint and one superb workout. She is another that has the tactical speed to stay the pace. A daughter of Field Commission, she is 69% in the money from thirteen starts.

Other Wagering Interests

#7 Visby (A. Gallardo / Nixon) should track the pace closely. She holds the second highest last out speed number at a slightly longer sprint and two fantastic workouts. She comes in from Laurel Park. A daughter of Midshipman, she is 66% in the money from nine starts.

#11 Risk Threshold [IRE] (Marin / C. Brown) is the deserved morning line favorite with the highest last out speed number at a longer sprint and four sound workouts. She will show speed battling on the front-end with the other speedsters. This gal comes in from Aqueduct. A daughter of Dubawi [IRE], she is 83% in the money from six starts.

#12 Beauty of the Sea (Raj. Maragh / Orseno) shares the third highest (tie) speed number at the distance. She has put in one solid workout in preparation. This girl will track the pace closely. A daughter of Bucchero, she is 64% in the money from fourteen starts.

A Tampa Bay Superfecta Sunday

On this Superfecta Sunday we take in a lively Turf mile for the youngsters.

Tampa Bay Downs Race 8 {1 mile~TURF~2 year-old~Fillies~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A good crop of nine fillies will hit the green in this late in the card feature. There is some assemblage of speed to make for a quick run. The speed numbers are relatively close for a competitive event. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket. It should be an exciting Turf race.

#1 She's Lethal (Gallardo / Ness) might have the edge with the second highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two stout workouts. She will be stretching out to this distance for the first time. This youngster has an 80% in the money record from five starts. This race could be the one that brings her into the winners circle. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection. Expect her to be tracking the pace.
$1 SHOW.

#8 Statum Lace [IRE] (Ferrer / Lerman) comes off two wins while racing in across the pond in Great Britain. Her Time Form last out speed number is the highest among this group. Prior to a brief layoff she was working a three race progression. This Irish gal has put in one decent workout in preparation. She is another that could be tracking the pace ready to strike.

#2 Moms Choice (Baird / Rivelli) is the daughter of the magnificent Turf sire, Kitten's Joy. She holds the third highest last out speed number and has put in two superb workouts. This lass will be making her fifth start while achieving a 75% in the money record. Look for her on or near the lead seeking to hold off the fast approaching herd in the stretch.

#5 Spinamiss [IRE] (M. Cruz / Pletcher) is dropping in from a Grade Three competition five months ago. She shares the third highest last out speed number and was working a two race progression. This gal has put in three successful workouts that include a bullet. She should be forwardly placed and could be destined for favoritism.

Tampa Bay Downs R9.  Lightning City Stakes.  Our first pick, Katie's Kiss, finished 2nd for place money of $5.00 and show money of $6.30.  Our second pick, Iroquois Girl, finished 3rd for show money of $4.20. Our third pick, Joya Real, finished 4th.
Superfecta went 9-7-11-6.
Bankroll gets a boost to $18.06.

Stakes Saturday in Tampa

Stakes Saturday. Where the pools are rich, the crowds are large, and the horses are ready to prove their mettle. Today we examine a super Turf Sprint in warm and friendly Tampa, Florida.

A well situated field of twelve will hit the green in this Turf sprint. There is a plethora of speed in this race which should produce an furious pace. Speed numbers are relatively close making it any gals race. It should be an exhilarating event.

#7 Katie's Kiss (Gallardo / Fawkes) might have the edge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and three quality workouts. She is 85% in the money at this distance earning the third highest speed number at same. This gal also has the tactical speed to rate off the warp speed on the front end. A daughter of Kantharos, she should be ready to romp.

#11 Iroquois Girl (Gaffalione / Nicks) should challenge with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four serious peaking workouts. She should be forwardly placed looking for an opening among the speed demons. A daughter of Indian Charlie, she is 100% in the money at the distance from four tries.

#6 Joya Real (Ferrer / DeMasi) is sensational at this distance with a 100% in the money record from eight starts. She holds the third highest last out speed number. This gal has already notched a win over the Tampa Bay Downs grass. A daughter of Eddington she could gallop through this field if a fierce pace develops.

Another Wagering Interest

#3 Scatcapade (Morales / Clement) should be in the mix with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer sprint and two bullet workouts. She is another that relishes this distance having secured a 100% in the money record at it from five starts. This daughter of Scat Daddy should be close to the pace ready to launch into the stretch.

Due to the scratch we scuttled our 10 CENT Superfecta play. Superfecta went 3-2-5-4.
Bankroll remains the same at $2.66, but we will supplement with a Hamilton for today's race.
