Sprinting to the Horse Racing Weekend

Thursday begins our horse racing weekend.  Today we look at a fantastic graded stakes sprint to start off a great weekend of horse racing.

Oaklawn Park Race 9 {Count Fleet Sprint Handicap~G3~6 furlongs~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A highly rated field of six will make the start in this grade three.  There is plenty of speed and those that like to press the pace to make this a hot pace.  Four in here have it the triple digit speed number and the other two are very close to that milestone.  It should be an extremely exciting race.

#1 Secret Circle (M. Garcia / Baffert) should be able to stay close to the pace with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three superb peaking workouts.  This lad loves the Oaklawn oval and should be able to pull off the victory.
$2 WIN.

#4 Alsvid (Tohill / Hartman) could surprise coming a bit off the hot pace with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one peaking bullet workout.  He too enjoys the Oaklawn course.  This guy also holds the highest speed number at the distance.
$2 SHOW.

10 CENT Superfecta

Due to the small field, there is no Superfecta offered.

Last Superfecta Sunday (4/6) Results
Oaklawn Park R8.  Carousel Stakes.  One scratch eliminated the 10 CENT Superfecta.
Our Bronze Horseshoe runner, Ms. Anna Destiny, finished 2nd for $3.00 in show money.
Bankroll rises a buck to $11.24.

Superfecta Sunday in Hot Springs

On this Superfecta Sunday after a grand Stakes Saturday, we take a look at a nice six furlong stakes race in Arkansas.

Oaklawn Park Race 8 {Carousel Stakes~6 furlongs~4 year old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}
A short field of seven will take to the dirt in this afternoon feature.  There is wholesome speed which should keep the pace earnest.  All but a couple are coming into this one fresh off a thirty day layoff.  All have a chance to saunter into the winners circle.  Our task is to shape a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket.

#3 Speedinthruthecity (Quinonez / Asmussen) could have the edge as she has a tracking running style which should suit her well in this field.  She holds the second highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and two solid, peaking workouts.

#2 Ms Anna Destiny (Castanon / Cox) should challenge sitting a bit off the pace with a couple of good last out speed numbers and two athletic workouts.  She holds the second highest (tie) speed number at the distance.  This gal is our Bronze Horseshoe runner for this Sunday.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Aireofdistinction (Santana / Asmussen) could be one of the pacesetters as she tries for her fifth win in a row.  This girl holds the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and four superb peaking workouts.  If she can control the speed, she will win.

Best of the rest

#7 Itsallinthefamily (Tohill / Hartman) will embark on her third win in a row.  She is 100% in the money at this distance and at Oaklawn.  She could surprise.

#4 Livi Makenzie (Mello / Moquett) holds the highest speed number at the distance and has put in three hearty peaking workouts.  This gal could be dangerous.

#1 Jury Wise (Canchari / Hellman) might surprise with an all out effort.  She has a versatile running style which will aide her in this battle.  It is worthy of note that the trainer stat of 67% stakes win is remarkable.

#5 Malibu Holiday (Arroyo / Heffner) cannot be counted out with the third highest speed number at the distance and one diligent workout.  If the pace heats up she has the ability to come from off the pace with a enthusiastic charge.

10 CENT Superfecta
We call this effort our 10 Cent Tri-play.  That is to say, we select our top three horses each in the WIN / PLACE / SHOW positions and the best of the rest in the fourth position.

#3 Speedinthruthecity, #2 Ms Anna Destiny, #6 Aireofdistinction  /  #3, #2, #6  /  #3, #2, #6 / #7 Itsallinthefamily, #4 Livi Makenzie, #1 Jury Wise, #5 Malibu Holiday.
