Superfecta Sunday, Sweet Home Chicago

On this last Superfecta Sunday of the month we visit a wonderful Turf race at beautiful Arlington International.

Arlington Park Race 6 {1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year olds up~fillies/mares~Maiden Special Weight}
A large field of twelve will go to the grass seeking their first win.  This is a highly competitive group and as maiden contests go, any gal in this field could be victorious.  Little speed shows up on the radar in this one, only a couple of forwardly placed types. Although its a question mark whether the shrewd trainer, Wayne Catalano, will be sending his first time starter, #9 Princess Alluvial.  It will be quite a challenge for any handicapper to do as we must, fashion together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#3 Ready for Summer (Geroux / Block) might have the edge with the highest last out speed number and one bullet workout.  She has already secured the money in her two starts, now she seeks a win. This gal should be tracking the pace closely. She will be our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#1 Blue Jean Baby (Marquez / Williamson) has already won once.  Why is she in a maiden race?  Because she was DQ'd to third for drifting badly in the stretch.  She seeks to make amends here with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two hearty workouts.  This lady is the only one to have run this distance.  Her coupled entrant #1A So Good to Go (E. Perez / Williamson) is no slouch either with a couple of decent last out speed numbers including the last out at a longer route and one solid workout.  Both these gals like to come from off the pace.

#4 Divided Humor (Graham / R. Scherer) seeks her first victory from this sixth start.  She holds the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and one stout workout.  She is another that will be closing swiftly.  One of the few in here that have traveled the Arlington Turf with aplomb.

#10 Kitty's Castle (Esquivel / Janks) should be in the hunt in her first Turf start with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and two wholesome workouts.  She is one of the demonstrated forwardly placed types that may want to control the pace and burst into the stretch.  This will be her third career start, expect some more improvement.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

#3 Ready for Summer  +  #1 Blue Jean Baby (#1A So Good to Go)  +  #4 Divided Humor  +  #10 Kitty's Castle.

Churchill Downs Race 8 {The Firecracker~G2~1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}

#4 Nikki's Sandcastle (Goncalves / Kassen) looks like he might be ready to close down this field with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three superb peaking workouts. This son of Castledale [IRE], holds the third highest speed number at this turf distance.  He loves the Churchill course and with a hot pace will be there at the wire.
$2 WIN  / $3 SHOW.

#8 Regally Ready (Bridgmohan / Asmussen) might back off the throttle a little and let the speedsters set the pace all the while staying close.  He should challenge mightily with the third highest (3-way tie) last out speed number at a longer route and three excellent peaking workouts.  A son of More Than Ready, he loves the Churchill course and has posted the highest speed number of this group over it.

#6 Villandry (Leparoux / Lopresti) might be spotted very well after having run mostly longer routes leading up to this event.  He has a couple of decent last out speed numbers in which he hit the board both times.  His workout tab of three half mile runs puts him in prime position to run surprising well.  This son of Mr. Greeley appears ready to run a fine race.

Going into the Belmont Stakes horse racing weekend, we take a look at a mile Turf race in Southern California.

Santa Anita Race 4 {1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Optional Claiming}
A small field of six quality gals will go to the green in this feature race.  All are of considerable talent that have near equal speed numbers at the mile turf distance.  Any one of these ladies could pull off the victory.  There is plenty of speed to keep the pace swift.

#5 Habibi [NZ] (Blanc / Blacker) will be coming off a long layoff, but should match up well with this group.  A winner of the New Zealand Derby, this gal has two wins from two starts at this distance.  She comes into this with three solid workouts.

Superfecta Sunday at Belmont

The excitement builds.  It is Belmont Stakes week.
On this Superfecta Sunday we seek a little fine tuning for this Saturday's big event at "Big Sandy".  Today we look in on a nice one mile route at expansive Belmont Park.

Belmont Park Race 7 {1 mile~3 year old Up~Claiming}
A terrific field of ten will go to the gate in this afternoon claiming feature. There is a ton of speed, most of which is in the inside posts.  The pace could greatly benefit the trackers and closers.  The lines are drawn fairly evenly with respect to speed numbers at the distance.  One group will be battling to hit the board.  The other group seeking to improve and take a spot on the board.  It should be a great race.

#9 Springcourt (Franco / Gullo) should benefit from a wicked pace.  He holds the second highest last out speed number and has put in two quality works.  This lad holds the second highest (tie) speed number at the distance.  He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#5 Kings Village (Luzzi / Jolley) is another that could triumph over the fast pace.  He holds the highest (tie) speed number at the distance.  This guy comes into the race fresh after a thirty-day rest.  His last out was a longer Turf route and he coupled that with a solid work.

#1 Seeker (W. Garcia / Contessa) should be part of the front running pack.  He holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one superb workout.  Despite a grueling pace, he should hold on for a piece of the purse.

#4 Street Thug (Montanez / Quick) will also be part of the leading group.  He shares the highest speed number at the distance and has posted a couple of good last out speed numbers that yield in the money finishes.  This son of the great Street Sense is coming into this race fresh with two strong works.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

#9 Springcourt  +  #5 Kings Village  +  #1 Seeker  + #4 Street Thug.
