Holiday Monday Racing

Today marks the unofficial end of Summer. With Del Mar and Saratoga closing out their summer season's, we look forward to some exceptional Fall racing. On this Holiday Monday we explore a fantastic race in gorgeous upstate New York.

Saratoga Race 10 {The Hopeful~G1~7 Furlongs~2 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A wonderful group of eight youngsters will go to the gate in this annual Saratoga sendoff.
There is enough speed to establish a swift pace. Speed numbers are all over the matrix, but these young colts can improve greatly in any race. It should be a great race as a fitting end of the terrific Stakes Races held at Saratoga this summer.

#1 Somebeyay (Castellano / Pletcher) might have the edge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number as a win over the Saratoga track and four strong workouts. This lad has hit the board in all three of his career starts. A son of Into Mischief, he should track the pace and strike in the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 SHOW.

#3 Nitrous (Santana / Asmussen) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number and four hearty peaking workouts. Another who had hit the board in both of his career starts. A son of Tapit, he has also notched a win over the Saratoga track. Expect him to be close to the pace.

#7 Mucho (J. Ortiz / Mott) contend with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two solid workouts. Yet another that has won over the Saratoga track, he will be tracking the pace ready to score. A son of Blame, he stretches out a furlong for this race.

#5 Dream Maker (Leparoux / Casse) is another son of Tapit. He holds a decent last out speed number while breaking his maiden at a shorter sprint. This colt has put three powerful, peaking workouts in preparation. He comes into the race off a brief freshening, definitely ready to fire.

Super Derby Superfecta Sunday

On this beautiful Superfecta Sunday we look in on a graded stakes race at that fabulous track down in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Louisiana Downs Race 11 {Super Derby~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A quality field of nine will go to the gate in this annual Graded Stakes race. There is sufficient speed to create a heated pace. Speed numbers are all fairly close making this race a highly competitive event. Our task is to stitch together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket. It should be a great race.

#3 Lone Sailor (Graham / Amoss) is the class of the field and should be able to pull off the victory. He holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number at slightly longer route and two hearty workouts. This son of Majestic Warrior has competed at the highest levels this year and should take up a nice tracking position.

#8 High North (Geroux / B. Cox) should challenge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route and two stout workouts. He holds the highest speed number at this distance and is 57% in the money at the same. A son of Midnight Lute, he should be racing close to the pace. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

Superfecta Sunday at AP, Try Two

A pleasant Superfecta Sunday where we will venture to magnificent Arlington Park to give a good effort at securing a 10 CENT Superfecta box.

Arlington Park Race 5 {1 1/16 mile~3 year old Up~Allowance}
A decent group of ten horses will make their start in this allowance feature.  This evenly matched field comes up a little light on speed.  There should be a small forwardly placed group chased around the polytrack by a group of tracker / closers.  From a handicapping perspective this could be a challenging one.  Let's give it a try.

#9 Dad Are We There (Martinez / Mathews) could go off as the favorite with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two hearty workouts. He has a tactical running style that should suit him well in this race.

#3 Jilly From Philly (Graham / Robertson) is a very consistent type that relishes the poly.  He has a couple of decent last out speed numbers that match-up well with this group, a two race progression, and one very strong workout.  He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection for this Sunday.
$2 SHOW.

#10 Peso (Torres / Boyce) looks ready to tackle these.  He holds a couple of decent last out speed numbers and has put in two solid, peaking workouts.  He should be forwardly placed ready to pounce.

#4 Classy Cove (Mena / McGee) will be moving up in distance with the third highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three efficient workouts.  He could sit right off the pace ready to explode in the stretch.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

#9 Dad Are We There  +  #3 Jilly From Philly  +  #10 Peso  +  #4 Classy Cove.

Stakes Saturday Hoorah

On this beautiful Stakes Saturday we look at two fine races one in New York and one in Louisiana.

Belmont Park Race 3 {Bowling Green~G2~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A very small field of five step onto the green.  A bit of speed rounded out by some tracker closers should make this race an interesting one.

#1 Air Support (J. Velazquez / McGaughey) should get an honest pace to close into.  He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and has put in three hearty workouts.  This guy holds the highest speed number at the distance.
$1 WIN / $2 SHOW.

#2 Brilliant Speed (Castellano / Albertrani) will challenge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and two roaring workouts.  He could get first jump on the leaders in the stretch.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.

#5 Brujode de Olleros [BRZ] (Leparoux / Motion) could be the surprise coming from a stellar career racing in Uruguay.  His last out at Monmouth Park was good, earning him the fourth highest last out speed number in this group.  He is coming off a freshening with three robust workouts.
$1 SHOW.

10 CENT Superfecta
Due to the small field, this race will not offer one.

Louisiana Downs Race 10 {Super Derby~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year olds~Stakes}
An exciting field of nine will make this race.  It comes up speed heavy and should benefit a tracker or closer.  With so many retirements from the three year old division this year, a few stars may emerge from this race pointing toward the Breeder's Cup in November.

#8 Rousing Sermon (Smith / Hollendorfer) ships in showing fine form with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and five superb, peaking workouts.  He could track and close his way to victory.
$2 WIN / $3 SHOW.

#3 Blueskiesnrainbows (Talamo / Baffert) also ships in for this showing strong speed.  He holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and five stellar, peaking workouts.  This guy will be up to his knees in speedsters and pressers.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#9 Bourbon Courage (Goncalves / Gorder) will be in the hunt with the third highest speed number and three significant peaking workouts.  He could benefit from his tracking style holding the third highest pseed number at the distance.

#2 Key Donation (Eramia / Amoss) could be the best of the rest with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and four tenacious, peaking workouts.  He will be stretching out in distance with a pressing/tracking attack.

10 CENT Superfecta

#8 Rousing Sermon, #3 Blueskiesnrainbows / #8, #3 / #9 Bourbon Courage, #2 Key Donation / #9, #2.
