Superfecta Sunday at Sensational Santa Anita

Yesterday was a hugely exciting Breeders' Cup World Championships at the "Great Race Place". Thrilling racing was the norm. Today we stay on at sensational Santa Anita to look at another terrific Turf race.

Santa Anita Race 6 {Goldikova Stakes~G2~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A laudable field of seven gals will hit the green in this annual event named after the Queen of the Turf Mile, Goldikova [IRE].  There is almost no speed, though a couple in here could be sent similar to the way Breeders' Cup Turf Champ, Highland Reel [IRE] was yesterday. Speed figs are super close particularly at this mile distance. It could be any gals race. As such we will depart from our usual 10 CENT Superfecta Box play, given the short field, and go to what we like to call the Lambrakis method, named after Southern California handicapper Paul Lambrakis. He wrote a great monograph, The Ten Cent Superfecta: Complete Guide to Wagering and Winning, which is available at todaysracingdigest.com. Let's give this a shot.

#5 Zindaya (Castellano / C. Brown) comes in from New York to challenge these California Turf girls. She shows the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four methodical workouts. This gal shares the highest speed number at the distance and holds a 75% in the money record at same. She has the tactical speed to take the lead and keep on going.

#4 Majestic Heat (Prat / Mandella) is coming out of a grade one event covering a longer bit of ground. She holds a 57% in the money record at the distance from seven starts. In preparation for this race she has put in three supreme workouts. As she definitely loves the Turf and the Santa Anita course, she is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#1 Nancy from Nairobi [GB] (Rosario / Sadler) should challenge sharing the highest speed number at the distance while gathering a 100% in the money record at same. She is coming out of a longer Turf route and has put in four strong workouts. Watch her track the pace and strike in the stretch.

#7 Tiz a Kiss (Desormeaux / Baltas) should contend coming out of a grade one at a longer Turf distance. She holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and has put in three hearty workouts. This gal should be tracking and closing with heart.

Sunday in Kentucky

The 27th Breeder's Cup World Championships were the most visually satisfying in recent memory.  With all kinds of so-called upsets, it was truly heartpounding excitiement to watch.  It also showed that there was parity among the contestants.  The most excting race was the spectacular victory by Goldikova.  What a gifted horse.  The most heartbreaking race was Zenyatta's loss by a nose in the Breeder's Cup Classic.  Though she lost, she is still very much deserving of horse of the year.

Today we enter into the home stretch of our Horse Racing Weekend looking at two fine races back at the scene of the spectacular Breeder's Cup races, Churchill Downs.
