Superfecta Sunday along the Jersey Shore

Another Superfecta Sunday falls upon us.  Today we look at Monmouth Park once again attempting to cobble together a 10 CENT Superfecta box.

Monmouth Park Race 11 {Molly Pitcher~G2~1 1/16 mile~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}
A fine field of nine fillies/mares will launch from the gate.  A tiny bit of speed mixed with a bunch of the forwardly placed should make this race exceedingly interesting.  Their truly is no clear favorite as any one of these gals are capable of winning.

#1 Afleeting Lady (Bejarano / Romans) has a tiny edge with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and three superb workouts.  She should be forwardly placed ready to make a strong closing run.  She is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Brushed by a Star (Nakatani / Forster) should be in the hunt with the fourth highest (3-way tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and two wholesome workouts.  This gal should be near the front pack ready to move nicely through the stretch.

#6 R Gypsy Gold (Castellano / Pletcher) will challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one stout workout.  She is another that could be motoring along with the front pack.

#3 Nefertini (Marquez / Goldberg) should be in the mix with a decent last out speed number and two fluid workouts.  She should be able to track the pace and explode into the stretch.

There was NO 10 CENT Superfecta for this race.

Saratoga R10.  Jim Dandy--G2.  Our first pick, Liaison, finished 3rd for show money of $4.20.  Our second pick, Alpha, won (1st) for place money of $1.85 and show money of $1.60.  Our third pick, Neck 'n Neck, finished 2nd for show money of $2.10.
Superfecta went 1-4-7-6.

Stakes Saturday at Saratoga

A Stakes Saturday during summer would not be the same without Saratoga.  Today we take a look at two exceptional graded stakes at that beautiful track.

Saratoga Race 9 {Diana~G1~1 1/8 mile~inner TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}
A powerful field of six gals will take to the turf in this excellent race.  The speed is to the inside in this one and if it heats up, it could help the rallying run of a closer.

#3 Zagora [FR] (Dominguez / C. Brown) looks ready to run after a 60-day freshening.  She holds the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four hearty workouts.  She could come a closin'.
$1 WIN / $1 SHOW.

#6 Hungry Island (J. Velazquez / McGaughey) will challenge sharing the third highest last out speed number and putting in two pure workouts.  You have to love this horse as she has only been out of the money once in her thirteen race career.  Another closer seeking a good pace to run into.

#4 Dream Peace [IRE] (Leparoux / Collet) is a well traveled gal that has a stellar record racing overseas.  She is coming off a longer Turf route and is heading into the third race of her form cycle.  She is fresh and should demonstrate a splendid closing kick.

A highly competitive field of eight will make the start in this annual race.  It appears to be evenly divided between the forwardly placed and those who run from off the pace.  Any one of these could win.  It should be a very exciting race.

#7 Liaison (M. Garcia / Baffert) has a minute edge with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three supreme workouts.  This guy could track the pace and close mightily.
$1 WIN / $2 SHOW.

#1 Alpha (Dominguez / McLaughlin) will challenge with the highest speed number at the distance, a decent last out speed number at a longer route, and four furious workouts.  This guy is proven over the Saratoga track and will use that to his advantage.

#4 Neck 'n Neck (Goncalves / Wilkes) should also challenge with the highest last out speed number and two robust workouts.  He should be able to stay close to the pace a release a strong run in the stretch.

Fantastic Friday at Saratoga

For our Friday horse racing we take a look at a marvelous stakes race at beautiful Saratoga.

Saratoga Race 8 {Curlin~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A great field of eight will go to the gate.  Some decent, but controlled speed will make this one very interesting.  Many more improving horses will make it exciting.

#3 Street Life (Lezcano / C. Brown) looks like much the best hoping to catch a lively pace.  He holds the second highest last out speed number off a longer route and has put in four superior workouts.  This son of Street Sense will be closing fast like his daddy use to.

#5 Easter Gift (Castellano / Zito) is a much improving colt with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three robust workouts.  He has enough tactical speed to stay reasonably close and get first jump on the field.

#7 Love To Run (Alvarado / Kimmel) is another nicely improving colt with the fourth highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one stout workout.  He should be forwardly placed ready to run.

Thursday Turf at Saratoga

Our horse racing weekend begins with a good Turf race at the "Spa".

Saratoga Race 9 {1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Optional Claiming}
A solid field of ten fillies/mares will make their way onto the grass course for this Saratoga mile.  Some sufficient speed will keep the pace honest.  All in this one appear to be close in ability.  Should be a superb race.

#2 Scenario Analysis (Lezcano / C. Brown) has a slight edge with the second highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three disciplined workouts.  She relishes this mile distance over the Turf.
$1 WIN / $1 SHOW.

#9 First Whippoorwill (Prado / Motion) could surprise with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a five race progression, and three stellar workouts.  She should sit right off the leaders ready to go.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.

#1 Downtown Hottie (Castellano / A. Dutrow) looks ready to run a good race with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and three conditioning workouts.  She could track the pace and rush the stretch.  An added bonus would be if her coupled entrant, #1A Shakeira, draws in as an also eligible.

#10 Ginny's Classic (Dominguez / Hushion) will be in the hunt showing speed as a front runner.  She holds the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one solid workout.  It is possible she could wire the field.

Superfecta Sunday at Del Mar

Today, on our Superfecta Sunday, we look at a wonderful Turf mile where the "Surf meets the Turf", lovely Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in sunny Southern California.

Del Mar R8 {San Clemente~G2~1 mile~TURF~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
A very good field of seven fillies will stride out on the lawn.  The race has a nice blend of all racing styles whichs lends itself to connections having deep discussions about racing strategy.  Let's give a try to our first 10 CENT Superfecta box of the Del Mar meet.

#5 Byrama [GB] (Gomez / S. Callaghan) looks primed to run a big race with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four splendid workouts.  This gal has been in the money in all eight of her career starts.  Look for her to track the pace and swoop into the stretch.  She is our Bronze horseshoe runner.

#8 Indigo River [IRE] (M. Garcia / Mullins) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four superb workouts.  She might be forwardly placed ready to take advantage coming into the stretch.  Along with our top pick, she is the only other horse in the field to travel over a Turf at this distance.

#4 Eden's Moon (Bejarano / Baffert) will also be in contention with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three solid workouts.  She should be the speed of the race looking to wire it.  This daughter of Malibu Moon will be skipping over the green for the first time.

#3 Killer Graces (Smith / Hollendorfer) figures to be in the mix with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three robust workouts.  She should be tracking the pace ready to rumble through in the stretch.

Saratoga Stakes Saturday

We roll up on Stakes Saturday with a look at a tremendous graded stakes race out at the Spa.

Saratoga Race 10 {TVG Coaching Club American Oaks~G1~1 1/8~3 year old~filly~Stakes}
A fine bunch of six fillies will make the start in this prime event.  A good number of forwardly placed gals may make it a strong pace setting up for those who will come from off the pace.  All are equally talented making it anyone's race.

#2 Disposablepleasure (Napravnik / Pletcher) appears ready to run a big race with the third highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and two diligent workouts.  This Triple Crown Nominated gal may have just the right pace set-up for a closing rush.

#5 Zo Impressive (Maragh / Albertrani) is another that may benefit from a fast pace with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two stout workouts.  She can stay close to the pace and move smoothly through the stretch.

#4 Funny Proposition (Bridgmohan / Casse) could surprise coming off a route at this distance over the green.  She has posted a couple of decent last out speed numbers and has put in two robust workouts.  She is a presser that relishes the dirt surface.

#6 In Lingerie (Castellano / Pletcher) should figure prominently with a decent last out speed number that gained her a win at this distance.  She has put in four superb workouts.  The question is what running style will she bring to this dance?  The Victoria's Secret style, swift and sure or the Target style, holding back and dashing through.  Based on her past performance pattern, she may go Victoria challenging the front running types.

To the Turf at Del Mar

Thank goodness it's Friday.  We take a look at a terrific Turf battle at that fabulous place near the Pacific Ocean, Del Mar.

Del Mar Race 6 {1 1/16~TURF~3 year olds~Allowance Optional Claiming}
A great race shapes up with a superb field of ten.  There is limited speed or front running types so the race could develop as a Euro style race with a quickening into the turn.  The race should be a fun one.

#7 Ransom Canyon (Gomez / Proctor) gets a slight edge with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three quality workouts.  He could find himself in the mid-pack battle.
$2 SHOW.

#9 Seventh Avenue [IRE] (Bejarano / Bonde) will certainly challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and one swift bullet workout.  He is another that should find himself in the mid-pack scirmish.

Thursday at Arlington Park

We open up our horse racing weekend with a splendid sprint over the polytrack at magnificent Arlington Park.

Arlington Park Race 6 {6 furlongs~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Allowance}
A very nice field of nine ladies will make the start in this allowance feature.  There is plenty of speedy types in here which could set the race up for one coming from off the pace.  It should be a challenging task for any handicapper as there are pluses and minuses for every gal in the race.

#5 Slavic Princess (Torres / Leonard) has a small edge with the fourth highest last out speed number and the second highest speed number at the distance.  She has done well over the Arlington synthetic having a 75% in the money record.  Additionally, she is 70% in the money from 30 career starts.  She should be forwardly placed ready to pounce.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Wildcat Miss (Roman / Smith) will challenge with the second highest last out speed number and a two race progression.  She also holds the highest speed number over the Arlington Park track and has the fourth highest speed number at the distance.  This gal could get a nice trip sitting mid-pack waiting to roll.

Superfecta Sunday at Ellis Park

On this Superfecta Sunday, we take a look at a swell allowance race at that fabulous little Kentucky track, Ellis Park.

Ellis Park Race 8 {1 mile~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Allowance}
A large field of twelve gals will go to the gate in this mile battle.  There is enough speedsters and pressing types to keep a strong pace going.  It could set up nicely for those horses who relish coming from off the pace.  With a nimble field it will certainly be a challenge to fashion a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.  Let's give it a whirl.

#7 Malibu Holiday (Lanerie / McPeek) appears ready to run a top effort with the second highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and one solid workout.  She should take advantage of a swift pace and close well.

#2 Smartest Secretary (Bridgmohan / Ackerman) looks well prepped to return to dirt after running a longer route over the grass at Indiana Downs.  She holds the highest speed number at the distance and has put in one stout workout.  Watch her track the pace and gun it in the stretch.  She will be our bronze horseshoe runner.

#6 Clear the Clover (Borel / McGee) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number coming off a longer turf route and producing one sinewy workout.  She should stay close to the leaders and begin her rush heading in the turn.

#3 Indian Icicle (Vazquez / Ritter) could surprise with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two sure workouts.  She could be forwardly placed ready to get first jump on the leaders.

Stakes Saturday Turfing

We go to the green on this Stakes Saturday by looking at a couple of exceptional Turf races.  A grade one at beautiful Belmont Park and another at one of the finest Turf courses in the nation, Arlington Park.

Belmont Park Race 8 {Man O War~G1~1 3/8 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A great field of eight will make their start in this annual.  There is some speed as well as all other racing styles represented.  Each horse entered has enough talent to pull off the victory.  It should be an exhilarating race.

#5 Treasure Beach [GB] (Spencer / O'Brien) is a well traveled millionaire.  His tracking style is well suited for this race and field.  He is coming out of a race in Hong Kong prior to a nice 60 day freshening.  This will be his second start of the year.  He holds a 72% in the money record in a fourteen race career.  Should be the one to beat.

#3 Point of Entry (Lezcano / McGaughey) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three tenacious, peaking workouts.  He is another that should track and close in on the pace entering the stretch.

Friday Monmouth Adventure

A great Friday always begins with a little horse racing.  Today we look at a nice Turf route at marvelous Monmouth Park.

Carryover Thursday

On this 12th of July there are some rather large pick six carryover's at both Belmont Park and Betfair Hollywood Park, hence the name "Carryover Thursday".  Good luck to those that take a stab at one or both.

Superfecta Sunday at Woodbine

We look North for a little heat relief and a fantastic Turf battle in Canada. 

Woodbine Race 8 {Dancing Smart~G2~1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}
A great group of seven fillies/mares will break on to the grass for this superb Turf race.  Could be a difficult one to cobble a 10 CENT Superfecta box together.  All are perfectly capable of finishing in the money.  Let's give it a try.

#7 Marketing Mix (Leparoux / Proctor) should be the overwhelming favorite with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three fluid workouts.  She should be forwardly placed over a course she loves.  Hard to deny this gals ability to win.

#2 Inglorious (Husbands / J. Carroll) is up to the challenge with the third highest last out speed number and two exceptional workouts.  She should be found mid-pack ready to pounce on the leaders.

#4 Kissable [IRE] (Solis / Attfield) will be making her first North American start with a good record in Ireland.  She comes off a ordinary layoff after two strong efforts on the Emerald Isle.  She has worked out tenaciously with five terrific peaking workouts.  Should be ready for this big race.  She is our bronze horseshoe runner for this Sunday.

Stakes Saturday Out East

A spectacular Stakes Saturday arrives.  We take a look at a couple of good ones out East.

Belmont Park Race 9 {Suburban Handicap~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A top line field of eight powerhorses are expected to make the start.  Every last one of them is capable of pulling off the victory.  Half of the field are of the speedy variety and the other half will come from off the pace.  All have posted triple digit speed numbers in their careers.  It should be a great race.

#7 To Honor and Serve (Lezcano / Mott) appears to have the edge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three robust, peaking workouts.  With a controlled pace he could easily clear this field.

#1 Stay Thirsty (Castellano / Pletcher) coupled with #1A Caixa Electronica (Castro / Pletcher) will challenge.  Stay Thirsty holds shares the highest speed number, is working a two race progression, and has put in four stellar workouts.  Caixa Electronica has the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two steady workouts.  Either one of these coupled entrants could win with their pressing/tracking attack.

#9 Nicole H (C. Velasquez / Fawkes) is a slight favorite with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two healthy workouts.  She could press the leaders and kick it in the closing stages of the race.

Hot Arlington Park Friday

On this fabulous Friday we take a look at a nice allowance race on the Arlington Park polytrack.

An excellent field of eight gals will go to the gate.  There is enough speed in here to set the race nicely for a filly coming from off the pace.  An equally talented field lends itself to a handicapping challenge.

#5 Islet (Diego / Mason) has a slight edge as the filly that will come from off the pace with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two robust workouts.  She could sit right off the leading pack ready to strike.

#3 Wild Pantera (Homeister / Gabriel) should be forwardly placed looking to take advantage of a fast pace with the third highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and one solid workout.

Horse Racing Weekend begins at Belmont

After a pleasurable Independence Day we get back to the horse racing action.  On this hot July Thursday we take a peek at a New York allowance race at bountiful Belmont Park.

Belmont Park Race 7 {1 mile~3 year old Up~NY~Allowance}
A superb field of ten will make this dirt start on the Belmont oval.  There is enough pace in this one to give those coming from off the pace a excellent chance of hitting the wire first.

#1 Stonecoldsteamer (Castellano / R. Dutrow) appears ready to run the best race with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and four robust, peaking workouts.  He also holds the second highest (tie) speed number at the distance.  He could be the speedster that saves ground from the inside post and strides to victory.

#3 Saxophone Len (Lezcano / Hushion) should finish well with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two athletic workouts.  He holds the third highest speed number at the distance.  A fast pace could benefit his tracking style.

#6 Quiet Power (Napravnik / Bush) holds the highest speed number at the distance.  He could be able to stay close to the leaders with his pressing style.  He has a couple of o.k. last out speed numbers and a modest workout.

Superfecta Sunday at Betfair Hollywood Park--Act II

Back to the Hollywood scene for a another Turf try at our Sunday Superfecta box.

An interesting field of eight will go to the grass for this highly competitive allowance race.  There is clear parity among the group.  Any one of these gals could pull off the win.  Our challenge is to cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#8 Thisismystage (Talamo / Dollase) could go off at the favorite with the highest speed number at the distance, the highest last out speed number prior to a layoff, and four strengthening workouts.  She might sit in the pocket and explode into the stretch.  Our Bronze horseshoe runner.

#6 Rosehill Dew [IRE] (M. Garcia / McAnally) will challenge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and three stamina producing workouts.  She also has the third highest last out speed number that produced a win.  This Irish bred filly will come out of the clouds along the emerald ground.

#1 Byrony [IRE] (Bejarano / Sadler) will also challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression which includes a race in Great Britain last November, and three superb endurance inducing workouts.  She could give them all a run for the money with a nice tracking effort.

#2 Plaza De Indias [CHI] (Krigger / Nettles) could surprise with sharing the fourth highest last out speed number and one solid workout.  She ran successfully in her native Chile.  This gal can be expected to be close to the pace.
