Superfecta Sunday at the Bing Crosby Meet

We celebrate out Superfecta Sunday at the closing of the Bing Crosby meet in Southern California.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 7 {6 1/2 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A fine group of nine will strut to the gate in this late afternoon feature. There is enough speed to maintain an honest pace. Speed numbers are very close. All of these gals are assertive at this distance and enjoy the Del Mar track. Our task is to attempt to stack up a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#8 Wonderful Lie (Prat / Hollendorfer) appears to be in great form finishing in the money in her last two races. She holds the second highest last out speed number and three hearty workouts. This gal has the tactical speed to sit right off the leaders and change gears going into the stretch. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#7 Run for Retts (Desormeaux / Miyadi) should improve coming out of a stakes race with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer sprint and four high powered workouts. She does relish the distance having scored in both of her efforts at same. This gal comes in off a modest layoff.

#4 Fantasy of Luck (Elliott / Baffert) should be in the hunt with a couple of good last out speed numbers and two robust workouts. She shares the highest speed number over the Del Mar track. This gal should be forwardly placed.

#6 Revenue Virginius (Espinoza / Hess) should be in the mix with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one decent workout. She loves the distance and enjoys the Del Mar track. This gal should be tracking the pace.

Aqueduct R10.  Cigar Mile Handicap--G1.  Our first pick, Connect, won (1st) for win money of $2.50, place money of $3.30, and show money of $4.20.  Our second pick, Anchor Down, finished 5th.  Our third pick, Divining Rod, finished 2nd for show money of $2.45.
Superfecta went 7-10-3-8.
Bankroll makes a gain to $155.82.

Stakes Saturday at the "Big A"

Off we go on this Stakes Saturday to view a grade one in wonderful New York.

Aqueduct Race 10 {Cigar Mile~G1~1 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A super competitive field of ten will go to the gate in this annual race. There is enough speed to develop an honest pace. Speed numbers are highly reflective of a contentious race. It should be one of the more exciting races on the day.

#7 Connect (Castellano / C. Brown) might have the edge with the second highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and four sensational workouts. This lad has the tactical speed to stay the course no matter what type of pace develops. A son of Curlin, this will be his first start at the mile distance.

#1 Anchor Down (J. Ortiz / Pletcher) will pose a mighty challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two fine workouts. He should show speed on the front end with a couple of others. This guy relishes the distance and enjoys the "Big A" track. A son of Tapit, he also holds the highest speed at this mile distance.

#10 Divining Rod (Centeno / Delacour) will contend with the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and two strong workouts. He is undefeated at this distance from three starts. Another son of Tapit, he should fine a sweet spot close to the pace and rally in the stretch.

Another Wagering Interest

#3 Realm (P. Lopez / Tagg) could be in the mix with a couple of very good last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and two superb peaking workouts. This guy loves the distance and the Aqueduct track. Another improvement could be in the offing. A son of Haynesfield, he should be tracking the pace closely ready to spring into the stretch.

Woodbine R8.  Kennedy Road--G2.  Our pick, Puntrooskie, finished 5th. We completed misfired on our 20 CENT Superfecta Box play (carried over from last Superfecta Sunday) capturing only one of the four wagering interests required for victory. Superfecta went 4-2-3-8.

Fair Grounds R8.  Allowance Optional Claiming. Our selection, Divine Kaleb, finished 2nd for show money of $4.00. Superfecta went 1-2-8-7.

Furlong Friday with the Youngsters

On the day after Thanksgiving lets make it a double. Woodbine has re-scheduled the Kennedy Road Stakes--G2 for today. See the post below this one for our picks.

Today we also take in the view down in sunny, splendid New Orleans. On this Furlong Friday we look at a fantastic sprint for the youngsters.

Fair Grounds Race 8 {6 Furlongs~2 year-old~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A great group of eight youngsters will go to the gate in this featured sprint race. There is plenty of speed to keep the pace sizzling. Speed numbers are close which should yield a contested race. A number in here are just getting their racing career started as they make their second start. It should be a terrific race.

#2 Divine Kaleb (McMahon / Broberg) might have the advantage having already started a good foundation with six starts under his saddle. He holds the third highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two superb workouts. He has tactical speed which should benefit him greatly.

#3 Honor River (Torres / Casse) should challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three power workouts. This lad comes down from the great white North out of a higher level race. He should be tracking the pace closely.

#6 Warrior's Kid (Pedroza / Heitzmann) should contend with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and one solid workout. He should be tracking the pace and make his move going into the stretch. He has hit the board in all four of his starts including twice at this distance.

#7 Carson Kan (Graham / Mason) should be in the mix with the second highest speed number over the dirt. He is coming out of a slightly longer sprint at the super competitive Keeneland meet and has put in two sound workouts. He should be traveling in the second pack of runners ready to spring into the stretch.

Superfecta Sunday Up North

We take a look at a high quality graded stakes sprint in glorious Canada.

Woodbine Race 8 {Kennedy Road~G2~6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A great group of eight will go to the gate in this contentious sprint. There is plenty of raw speed to make this a quick one. Speed numbers are very close giving the indication that any equine in this race could win. Our task, however, is to combine a group of four for our 20 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#1 Puntrooskie (DaSilva / Macrae) might benefit from the speedsters dueling from the start. He holds the second highest last out speed number and has put in three supreme workouts prepping for this race. This guy holds the second highest speed number at the distance. Expect him to sit off the pace ready to strike. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#4 Stacked Deck (R. Hernandez / Minshall) could go off as the favorite with the highest last out speed number and two stellar workouts. He holds the highest speed number at the distance. This guy loves the Woodbine synthetic and will be part of the speed pack up front.

#6 Passion for Action (Contreras / DePaulo) should contend with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one superb workout. This lad loves the Woodbine surface and the distance. He could benefit greatly from a furious pace as he tracks the front runners.

#5 Jacks Escarpment (Wilson / Gonzalez) should be in the mix with the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer sprint and one solid workout. This guy will be part of the speedy group on the front end. He has an enviable in the money record at the distance of 90% from ten starts.

Superfecta Sunday in Canada

Off we go North to view a competitive stakes race for the youngsters.

Woodbine Race 8 {Coronation Futurity Stakes~1 1/8 mile~2 year-old~Ontario Bred~Stakes}

A talented group of nine youngsters will go to the gate in this annual affair. There is enough speed to maintain an honest pace. Speed numbers are very close for a group of two year-olds. Our task is hook together a winning 20 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#4 King and His Court (Boulanger / Casse) is coming out of a graded stakes event in which he hit the board. He holds the third highest last out speed number, a seven race progression and three outstanding workouts. This lad, like the rest of the field will be stretching out to this distance. With a 72% in the money record from seven starts, this guy should be in the thick of it. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Woodbridge (Campbell / Keough) should challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and four superb peaking workouts. He has not been out of the money in any of his four starts. He should be traveling close to the pace ready to spring forward into the stretch.

#2 State of Honor (P. Husbands / Casse) will contend possibly going off as the favorite. He holds the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one bullet workout. He has the tactical speed to be sent to the lead or sit right off the pace.

#1 Tidal Dancer (A. Garcia / Pierce) will be in the mix with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one bullet workout. He will be making his third career start so should show improvement once again. Expect him to track the pace as he transfers from Turf to synthetic.

Superfecta Sunday at Sensational Santa Anita

Yesterday was a hugely exciting Breeders' Cup World Championships at the "Great Race Place". Thrilling racing was the norm. Today we stay on at sensational Santa Anita to look at another terrific Turf race.

Santa Anita Race 6 {Goldikova Stakes~G2~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A laudable field of seven gals will hit the green in this annual event named after the Queen of the Turf Mile, Goldikova [IRE].  There is almost no speed, though a couple in here could be sent similar to the way Breeders' Cup Turf Champ, Highland Reel [IRE] was yesterday. Speed figs are super close particularly at this mile distance. It could be any gals race. As such we will depart from our usual 10 CENT Superfecta Box play, given the short field, and go to what we like to call the Lambrakis method, named after Southern California handicapper Paul Lambrakis. He wrote a great monograph, The Ten Cent Superfecta: Complete Guide to Wagering and Winning, which is available at todaysracingdigest.com. Let's give this a shot.

#5 Zindaya (Castellano / C. Brown) comes in from New York to challenge these California Turf girls. She shows the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four methodical workouts. This gal shares the highest speed number at the distance and holds a 75% in the money record at same. She has the tactical speed to take the lead and keep on going.

#4 Majestic Heat (Prat / Mandella) is coming out of a grade one event covering a longer bit of ground. She holds a 57% in the money record at the distance from seven starts. In preparation for this race she has put in three supreme workouts. As she definitely loves the Turf and the Santa Anita course, she is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#1 Nancy from Nairobi [GB] (Rosario / Sadler) should challenge sharing the highest speed number at the distance while gathering a 100% in the money record at same. She is coming out of a longer Turf route and has put in four strong workouts. Watch her track the pace and strike in the stretch.

#7 Tiz a Kiss (Desormeaux / Baltas) should contend coming out of a grade one at a longer Turf distance. She holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and has put in three hearty workouts. This gal should be tracking and closing with heart.

Breeders' Cup Stakes Saturday

What an exciting week of sports. The CHICAGO CUBS end their 108 year championship drought by winning the 2016 World Series in baseball and now we are into the greatest day of racing, the Breeders' Cup Championships.

Santa Anita Race 9 {Longines Breeders' Cup Turf~G1~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Graded Stakes}

A champion group of twelve Turf specialists will compete for the 4 Million dollar purse in this stellar race. It does come up a little light on speed. The speed figs are very, very close making it one of the most competitive races on the card. There are six millionaires in the field that will all have a significant impact. It might be possible that the sons and daughter of Galileo [IRE] dominate the race (there are four) and the grandsons of Smart Strike provide a mighty challenge. It should be the most exciting race of the day.

#4 Flintshire [GB] (Castellano / C. Brown) has the edge with the highest speed number at the distance coupled with a 100% in the money record from six starts at same. He holds the second highest last out speed number and has put in three strong workouts. He should be tracking the pace closely ready to spring swiftly into the stretch. A millionaire son of Dansilli [GB], he is an eight time winner with an overall 86% in the money record.

#6 Mondaliste [IRE] (Tudhope / O'Meara) should challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one peaking workout. This guy won the Arlington Million back in August.
