Stakes Saturday in the Fall at Santa Anita

 We settle on some downhill Turf action at the "Great Race Place".

Santa Anita Race 9 {John C. Harris~G3~6 1/2 Furlongs~Downhill TURF~3 year-old~Filly's~Graded Stakes}

A reduced field of nine will run down the hill in this featured event.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is plenty of speed to carry these gals down the hill in speedy fashion. Speed figs are fairly close making it a competitive race. Only three have run on the Santa Anita downhill course. Two will be cutting back in distance and two will be stretching out to the distance. All have good records over the Turf. It should be a fantastic race on a great day of racing in So Cal.

#4 Yours Sincerely [IRE] (Rispoli / D'Amato) comes to the race with the second highest last out speed number and three superb workouts. She should be part of the tracker pack. This gal has hit the board on the course. A daughter of Cable Bay [IRE], she is 60% in the money from ten starts.

#1 Mo' Em Down (JJ Hernandez / P. Miller) holds the third highest last out speed number and three power peaking workouts. She should track the pace closely. This gal has a win over the Santa Anita downhill course from two attempts. A daughter of Caracaro, she is 83% in the money from six starts.

#8 Day to Day (P. Lopez / SA Joseph) comes in from Colonial Downs with a good last out speed number and two speedy bullet workouts. She is another that will track the pace closely. This filly will be cutting back from a route. A daughter of McKinzie, she is 63% in the money from eleven starts.

Superfecta Sunday at Santa Anita

 We take in a graded Turf stakes out at that "Great Race Place" near the San Gabriel Mountains.

Santa Anita Park {Las Cienegas Stakes~G3~6 1/2 Furlongs~downhill Turf~4 year-old up~Filiies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A talented field of nine will trot up the hillside course and launch down it.

Pat Performances used:  Equibase.

#1 Queen Maxima (JJ Hernandez / Mullins) is the deserved favorite with the highest last out speed number and three high octane peaking workouts. She excels over the Turf, at the distance, and over the downhill course. She has the tactical speed to adjust her run as the pace develops. She should emerge as the winner. A daughter of Bucchero, she is 75% in the money from twelve starts.

W/P/S--no value. We will shift to an exacta play as outlined below.

#6 Miss Lizzy (Jaramillo / O'Neill) holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number and three sharp peaking workouts. This gal should be part of the tracker pack as they drop onto the main Turf course. She is good on the Turf, at the distance, and over the course. A daughter of Classic Empire, she is 60% in the money from twenty-three starts.

#8 Nay V. Belle (Rispoli / Glatt) also has tactical speed to adjust to the pace. She shares the second highest last out speed number and has put in three solid peaking workouts. #3 Princesa Moche [PER] (Demuro / O'Neill) has improved her speed figs in each of her last three races earning the fourth highest last out speed number at a route. Superfecta Sunday at Santa Anita

 A we look toward the Breeder's Cup Championships later this week, we take in the last race of today's Santa Anita card.

Santa Anita Park Race 10 {6 1/2 furlongs~ downhill TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares Allowance Optional Claiming}

A good group of eleven will take flight on the Santa Anita hillside course to end the Fall meet.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

This is a very fine race to cap off the card. It comes a little light on speed though there are a number of fowardly placed types to carry the pace. Speed figs are fairly close. Only four have covered the downhill course. Eight have competed at this distance. All but one have competed over a Turf surface. It should be a great race to handicap and wager.

#6 Royal Charter [GB] (Ayuso / Powell) drops in from a slightly more competitive race at Del Mar and cuts back from a mile distance. She should track the pace closely. This gal has raced downhill a couple of times hitting the board in one of them. She holds the second highest last out speed number and four strong workouts. A daughter of Expert Eye [GB], he is 37% in the money from sixteen starts.

#9 The Wild Grazer [IRE] (Berrios / Mullins) loves the TURF, distance, and downhill course holding the highest speed at both. She should be part of the tracker pack in the middle of the field. This gal holds a couple of solid workouts. A daughter of Gustav Klimt, he is 50% in the money from twelve starts.

#2 Tequilaandtherapy (Fresu / O'Neill) is another that drops in class and distance. She holds the highest last out speed number and four strengthening workouts. This lady should also track the pace closely. She hit the board in his only start on the downhill course. A daughter of Mrazek, he is 54% in the money from eleven starts.

#3 Yellow Sun Dress (JJ Hernandez / Glatt) is the morning line favorite as she tries the downhill course distance for the first time. This girl is yet another that will track the pace closely. She does love the Turf. A daughter of Karakontie [JPN], he is 75% in the money from eight starts.

Happy Super Bowl Sunday

 On this Superbowl Sunday, we look at a fine Stakes race at that "Great Race Place".

Santa Anita Park Race 7 {Sweet Life Stakes~downhill TURF~3 year-old~Fillies~Stakes}

A field of nine will saunter up to the start of the unique downhill course.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is plenty of speed to get this one rolling down the hill. Speed numbers are very close making it super competitive. None of the entrants have raced on the downhill course. Two have raced at this distance. Two will be stretching out and the rest will be cutting back in distance. All are well prepped for the race. It should be a fantastic race.

#3 Schilflied (Berrios / Gallagher) should track the pace closely and glide into the stretch. She comes in with the second highest last out speed number and two sound peaking workouts. This gal has won at this distance but will try the hillside course for the first time. She is one of seven cutting back in distance from her list. A daughter of Mendelssohn, she is 60% in the money from five starts.

#9 Acquitted (JJ. Hernandez / Mandella) exits a grade three contest with four powerful peaking workouts. She should track the pace closely. A cut back from a mile race in her last helps her cause. A daughter of Into Mischief, she has a win rate of 25% from four starts.

Stakes Saturday under the California Sun

 We look in on Santa Anita and a fabulous California Crown card. Our focus will be on a fabulous graded downhill Turf sprint with a robust field.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {Eddie D. Stakes~G2~6 1/2 furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A talented field of eleven will head up hill for the start of this annual contest.

Past Performances Used:  Equibase.

There is plentiful speed in this race to produce a sizzling pace. All are proficient over the Turf. Four will be making their first start on the unique downhill course. One millionaire joins the field. Speed figs are fairly close with a plethora of triple digit speed numbers posted. It should be one of the best races on the California Crown card.

#5 King of Gosford [GB] (Fresu / D'Amato) has won both of his efforts on the downhill Turf course. He holds a good last out speed number at a route and four very strong workouts. This guy should track the pace closely. A son of Zoustar [AUS], he is 54% in the money from eleven starts.

#2 First Peace (M. Smith / Glatt) comes in with the second highest last out speed number at a route and two superb workouts. He absolutely loves the Turf and the downhill Turf course. This lad will also track the pace closely and sprout into the stretch. A son of Funtastic, he is 78% in the money from fourteen starts.

#6 Airforce Red (JJ Hernandez / Powell) will show speed with the fourth highest last out speed number at a route and two diligent workouts. He is a downhill Turf course specialist. This ridgling will seek his second win in a row. A son of Air Force Blue, he is 45% in the money from twenty starts.

Superfecta Sunday on the Turf at Santa Anita

 We look in on a superb graded stakes race over the Turf on this Superfecta Sunday.

Santa Anita Park Race 7 {Santa Ana Stakes~G3~1 1/4 mile~downhill TURF~4 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A great group of nine talented ladies will hit the green in this annual event.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

This should be a stellar race on the day. There is enough speed to maintain an honest pace, though there will be a quickening heading into the stretch. Speed numbers are fairly close. Only three in the field have gone this distance and only four have experienced downhill action. This race will be the final race for the final table in this year's National Handicapping Championship at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas, Nevada. Good luck to those skilled players who make it to the final table.

#3 Australia Mia (Dettori / McCarthy) should go off as the deserved favorite. She comes off a longer Turf route where she earned the third highest last out speed number. Two excellent workouts add to her luster. She has hit the board three of four times, albeit in Chile. This gal should be forwardly placed. She loves the turf, distance and course. A daughter of Street Sense, she is 75% in the money from twenty career starts.

#7 Buzz of New York [IRE] (Rispoli / D'Amato) will challenge with the highest last out speed number and a bullet workout. This gal will be stretching out to this distance as a lover of the Turf. #9 Ballet Dancing (Prat / Callaghan) should continue improvement on the stretch-out. She is another that will track the pace closely. Superfecta Sunday downhill Turf action

 On this Superfecta Sunday we look in on a downhill Turf stakes race amidst the San Gabriel mountains.

Santa Anita Park Race 7 {Baffle Stakes~6 1/2 Furlongs~downhill Turf~3 year-old~Stakes}

An intriguing field of ten, up and coming lads, will run downhill on the green in this stakes race.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

A number of lightly raced horses including a first-time starter will swagger to the gate. Four Triple Crown Nominees are entered taking an unusual path to those high profile races. Speed figures are fairly close. There is a plethora of speed which should the pace frothy. Only one has raced on the Santa Anita downhill course. It will be a very good race.

#7 Malibu Coast (Prat / McCarthy) comes in off the second highest last out speed number in a mile stakes race on the Turf. He has put in two superb workouts in preparation. Look for him to track the pace and mount his attack in the stretch. A son of Malibu Moon, he is 75% in the money from four career starts.

#1 First Peace (Smith / Glatt) comes out ot the same mile Turf race earning the highest last out speed number. Three sensational works adds to his cause. He will be part of the pace scenario with his speed/presser attack. A son of Funtastic, he is 80% in the money from five career starts.

#9 Mi Hermano Ramon (Berrios / Glatt) has cobbled two triple digit speed numbers in his first two starts which earned him wins. He is another tracker that will take advantage of a speedy pace. He has put in two strong workouts. A son of Creative Cause, he has a 100% win rate.

#8 Helladic (Dettori / Hanson) will show speed from the opening of the gate. He comes up in distance with two powerfully speed laden workouts. A son of Kantharos, he has hit the board in all three of his career starts (100% itm).

A Downhill Superfecta Sunday

Om this Superfecta Sunday we take a look at the "lucky last" at the "Great Race Place".

Santa Anita Park Race 9 {6 1/2 Furlongs~downhill TURF~3 year-old Up~Allowance Optional Claiming}

This could be any horse's race as all have decent experience on Santa Anita's unique down hill Turf course. There is speed o plenty in this last race on the card. Speed numbers are also very close making it quite the competitive race. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. It should be a terrific race to cap off another horse racing weekend.

#3 Brandonthebartender (Talamo / Dollase) should be in very strong position should the pace boil over. He holds the third highest (3-way tie) last out speed number and four superb peaking workouts. This lad also shares the second highest speed number over the downhill course. A son of Tribal Rule, he should track and close well. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#5 Eric the Trojan (Prat / Carava) will challenge from off the pace. He holds the second highest last out speed number and four hearty workouts. This guy appears in great form and leads this field with five wins. A son of More Than Ready, he close down this group in the final strides.

#7 Calexman (G. Franco / Cerin) could go off as the deserved favorite with a couple of very good last out speed numbers and three strengthening workouts. This son of Midshipman loves the Turf and the downhill Turf course. He has been in the money in all five starts over Turf.

#9 Afleet Ascent (Desormeaux / Hollendorfer) has the opportunity to wire this field with the highest last out speed number at a route distance and four supreme workouts. He loves the Turf and the Santa Anita course. A son of Northern Afleet, is comes out of a strong second place effort in a stakes event.

Superfecta Sunday at Splendid Santa Anita

We look in on the last race at "The Great Race Place" on this Superfecta Sunday.

Santa Anita Race 9 {6 1/2 furlongs~Downhill Turf~3 year-old Up~Optional Claiming}

A good field of ten will head down the hill in this optional claiming race. There is a plethora of speed which should guarantee a fast pace. Speed numbers are very close making it literally any horse's race.  Our task is to thread together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket. It should be a fabulous race.

#10 Oiseau De Guerre (Gaffalione / McCarthy) might have the edge with the third highest speed number at the distance and a proven in the money record of 80% from five starts at same. This lad has put in three dynamite workouts in preparation and has the tactical speed to feel out the pace. A son of War Front, he loves the Santa Anita Turf. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#5 Flip the Coin Jan (Figueroa / O'Neill) should challenge with the second highest last out speed number at a route and one solid workout. This guy should be forwardly placed. He has already notched a win at this distance all the while holding the fourth highest speed number at same. A son of Trappe Shot, he has the most wins, three, of this group.

#7 Placido (Prat / Callaghan) is another with a win on the downhill Turf course. He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and has put in four superb peaking workouts. A son of Shackleford, he should be tracking the pace closely ready to strike.

#3 Diversionist (Talamo / Cassidy) will be making the transition from dirt to Turf for his second career start. He holds the highest last out speed number and has put in two vigorous workouts. A son of Golden Balls [IRE], he should relish the downhill Turf course.

Thank goodness it's Furlong Friday. Today we look in on a swell downhill Turf race.

A reduced field of eight will strut up the hill for this Turf race. There is plentiful speed. Speed numbers are fairly close giving the race a competitive feel to it. It should be a very fast race with each of these guys battling in the stretch.

On this Stakes Saturday we take a look at another Kentucky Derby prep race down in Arkansas.

A great crop of eleven will go to this gate in this annual event. there is a whole bunch of speed in this one making a swift pace inevitable. Speed numbers are fairly close creating a highly competitive race. All in this one are nominated to the Triple Crown. Off the pace runners might have the edge. It should be another superb race down in Hot Springs.

#11 Lookin At Lee (Santana / Asmussen) might have the edge with the speedsters all battling on the front end. He has raced well in his last two working a seven race progression and has put in two solid peaking workouts. A son of Lookin At Lucky, he relishes the distance and the track.

She holds the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three stamina producing workouts. This gal has a surperb chance of passing the field in the stretch.
