Furlong Friday in the California Sun

Today we look at a very challenging race to handicap for our Furlong Friday.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {5 1/2 Furlongs~TURF~3 year-old~Fillies~CA~Maiden Special Weight}

A great crop of eight will go to the gate in this grass affair. Five in the group are first time starters. Those that have raced are extremely close in terms of speed figs. Approaching a field like this requires looking at various Key Performance indicators to determine who might win and those that might be in the 10 CENT Superfecta play. Let's give this one a whirl.

#5 She's Devoted (Rosario / Baltas) is a first time starter with strong connections and a powerful peaking workout tab of four works. This daughter of Grazen, looks like she might have the edge as this group sprints out of the gate.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#2 Bella Vita (Van Dyke / S. Callaghan) is another first time starter that appears well suited for the surface and distance. This gal was a 400K purchase which far outstrips the cost of the rest of the field combined. It seems to be an indication that this filly is well intended. A daughter of Bayern, she has the chance to win at first asking.

#8 Ride Sally Ride (Cedillo / Carava) is one of three that have posted a few races. This gal appears primed to make a great effort. She holds the second highest last out speed number and three superb peaking workouts. A daughter of Creative Cause, she should be forwardly placed ready to pounce.
