Turf near the Surf Superfecta Sunday

 We venture to where the "Turf meets the Surf" for a fantastic Turf Stakes race.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 9 {Osunitas Stakes~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Stakes}

A competitive edition of this annual affair features eleven ladies ready for the green.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is plenty of speed and forwardly placed types to keep the pace flowing. Speed numbers are very close. Only three have yet to run over the Del Mar Turf. All have competed at this distance. It should be a superb race on a exceptional Superfecta Sunday card.

#12 Lunar Impact [GB] (Berrios / Blacker) holds three successive triple digit speed numbers and four tremendous peaking workouts. She should battle among the leaders on the front-end. This gal appears to be ready for a big race despite being moored on the outside. A daughter of Zoustar [AUS], she is 45% in the money from eleven starts.

#10 Sunset Glory [IRE] (Kimura / M. McCarthy) is another that has cobbled three triple-digit speed numbers in a row. Two power workouts add to her cause. Look for her to track the pace closely and sprout into the stretch. This lady loves the Turf, distance, and Del Mar course. A daughter of Cotai Glory [GB], she is 62% in the money from eight starts.

#9 Medoro (Rispoli / Eurton) is coming off a modest layoff, but has hit the board in all of her starts on the Turf, at the distance, and over the Del Mar course. The deserved favorite. Another that will track the pace closely and strike going into the stretch. A daughter of Honor Code, she is 100% in the money from eight starts.

#7 Raw Ability [IRE] (Cheminaud / Sadler) will show improvement as she attempts to get back to the winner's circle. This gal has put in four strong workouts. She looks to track the pace closely and spring into the stretch. She loves the Turf, distance, and Del Mar course. A daughter of Belardo [IRE], she has a win rate of 75% form four starts.

#8 Alpha Bella (Ayuso / Sadler) will attempt the Del Mar course for the first time. She holds the highest Turf speed number. Drops in class and distance with two good workouts. A daughter of Justify, she is 61% in the money from twenty-one starts.

#2 Queen Maxima (JJ Hernandez / Mullins) is seeking her sixth win in a row. She holds a strong record over the Turf and course. Has the tactical speed to adapt to the pace. A daughter of Bucchero, she is 88% in the money from nine starts.

Kentucky Derby Points on the Jersey Shore

Stakes Saturday along the Jersey Shore is out destination this week. We take in a fine Kentucky Derby points race.

Monmouth Park Race 12 {Haskell~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A good group of seven will go to the gate in this annual summer race. This unusual year it offers up Kentucky Derby points. There is plenty of speed and forwardly placed types to drive the speed forward. Speed numbers are fairly close, especially among the top three favorites. None have raced over the Monmouth track. This should be another exciting race along the Derby trail.

#2 Authentic (M. Smith / Baffert) looks ready take another race adding to his 100% in the money record from four career starts. This guy could share pace duties looking to wire the field. He has already scored at this distance. In preparation he has put in four powerful workouts. A son of Into Mischief, he has three wins in his four race career. We can expect short odds for this fella.

#7 Ny Traffic (P. Lopez / S. Joseph) should take another step forward with second highest (tie) last out speed number and three very strong workouts. He has already hit the board in his only try at this distance. A son of Cross Traffic, he is 75% in the money from eight career starts.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#1 Dr. Post (Bravo / Pletcher) should challenge sharing the second highest last out speed number and two sound workouts. This guy should have an advantage if the pace boils over. He is another that has hit the board at this distance securing the second highest speed number at it. A son of Quality Road, he is 75% in the money from four career starts.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Lebda (Cintron / Gonzalez) should be in the mix as he continues to show improvement. His last three speed numbers are pretty good and he has flashed two bullet workouts prepping for this one. He leads this field with four career wins. A son of Raison d'Etat, he is 77% in the money from nine career starts.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club R6.  Osunitas Stakes. We misfired on our 10 CENT Superfecta Box play, capturing only two of the four required. Superfecta went 6-1-2-7.
Our Bronze Horseshoe runner, Desert Oasis [GB], finished 6th.

Superfecta Sunday Turf meets the Surf

On this Superfecta Sunday we take in an exciting Turf stakes race down at ol' Del Mar.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 6 {Osunitas Stakes~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Stakes}

A talented field of seven will hit the Del Mar grass in this featured stakes race. There is a number of forwardly placed types that should keep the pace rolling. Speed numbers are fairly close. Our task is to wind together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.
It should be a good race on a nice Sunday.

#5 Desert Oasis [GB] (V. Espinoza / Drysdale) should be able to improve upon her last out speed number as it scores the fourth highest among this group. She has put in three bullet workouts in the last thirty days. This gal loves the distance and the course. A daughter of Medaglia d'Oro, she should be traveling close to the pace ready to strike. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#7 Sedamar (Blanc / Ruis) will challenge with the highest (tie) last out speed number and three superb peaking workouts. This filly has hit the board all nine times she has raced at this distance and all five times she has run over the Del Mar green. A daughter of Richard's Kid, she is another that should race close to the pace.

#1 Super Patriot (Prat / Baltas) is likely to be the favorite sharing the highest last out speed number and putting in three strong workouts. She absolutely loves the distance and the course. One of the more experienced in the group with a 61% in the money record from twenty-eight career starts. A daughter of Unusual Heat, she will be closely swiftly.

#3 Ziarah [IRE] (F. Alvarado / Badilla) should contend as she tries to go for five straight wins. She holds a couple of very good last out speed numbers and one solid workout. In her two efforts at this distance she has won both. This mare has a 65% in the money record from twenty-eight starts. A daughter of Iffraaj, she should race close to the pace.

Keeneland R9.  Bluegrass Stakes--G2.  Our first pick, Rushie, finished 3rd for show money of $10.00.  Our second pick, Art Collector, won for place money of $4.00 and show money of $4.80.  Our third pick, Swiss Skydiver, finished 2nd for show money of $3.40.
We flubbed our $1 Saturday Exacta Wheel for not having the winner.
We missed the 10 CENT Superfecta Box by one wagering interest. Superfecta went 3-7-10-12.
Bankroll loses a couple of dimes and dips to $124.33.
