Let's Go Long on Stakes Saturday

Time to end the year going long on the Turf in South Florida.

Gulfstream Park Race 10 {H. Allen Jerkens Stakes~2 Miles~TURF~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

A full field of fourteen will hit the grass in this long one. There is some gas in this one, but as in European racing expect a swift quickening heading for home. Only three in here have covered this distance, but a few more have the pedigree to make the run. Speed numbers are all fairly close giving this race a highly competitive feel to it. It should be a great race to watch and wager.

#4 Quiet Force (Jaramillo / Abreu) might have a slight edge with the third highest last out speed number and four fabulous workouts. This guy is looking for his third win in a row. As a son of Dynaformer he should be able to conquer this distance. He loves this course and should be passing tiring horses near the end.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#1 Top Striker (J. Lezcano / Kingsley) is one of the top hurdlers in the country and now will get over this distance on the flat green. He is 62% in the money at this distance. Coming off a two win streak with a modest rest, he should be fresh and in top form. A son of Van Nistelroy, he matches up nicely with this group. Expect him to track the pace ready to strike.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#3 Tagheeb (Gaffalione / Maker) has by far the highest last out speed figs in his last two races. He is coming out of a grade three route and has put in three superb workouts. He cherishes this course with a 80% in the money record from five starts. A son of Hard Spun, he should track and close gallantly.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#11 Montclair [IRE] (Prado / De La Cerda) should contend with two excellent last out speed numbers and three hearty workouts. His only race over this course yielded a victory. This lad has gone this distance four times and secured one win. A son of Montjeu [IRE], he appears ready to run a good one.

Special Monday Horse Racing

We hope you all had a smashingly beautiful Christmas.

On this Monday after the holiday, we take a look at a fantastic sprint on opening day at Santa Anita.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {Malibu~G1~7 Furlongs~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

An exceptionally talented field of nine will go to the gate in this annual contest. There is an abundance of speed to insure a fast pace. Speed numbers are very closing making it one of the most competitive on today's card. It should be a great race.

#4 Ten Blessings (Bejarano / Baffert) could have the edge with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and five dominating workouts. This lightly raced lad also holds the highest speed number at the distance. A son of Smart Strike, he should keep close near the pace.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#7 Sharp Azteca (Zayas / Navarro) will challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three excellent workouts. This guy has the speed to tear off a good one right out of the gate. A son of Freud, he holds the second highest speed number at the distance.
$2 SHOW.

#2 Mind Your Biscuits (Rosario / Falcone) should contend with the third highest last out speed number, a seven race progression, and three dynamite peaking workouts. He appears to relish the distance and the Santa Anita track. A son of Posse, he holds an impressive 83% in the money record from twelve starts.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#9 Awesome Banner (Leparoux / Casse) will be in the mix with the fourth highest last out speed number,  a four race progression, and two superb workouts. This guy is coming off a three win streak. He should be part of the forwardly placed crew. A son of Awesome of Course, he holds the highest number of victories at six.

Superfecta Sunday at Muddy Big "A"

Off we go to the East Coast for a race originally scheduled for Thursday 12/15, but cancelled to do a weather event. It should be a fine sprint re-boot.

Aqueduct Race 10 {6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Allowance}

A great group of eight will hit the mud in this re-scheduled sprint. Plenty of speed should produce a frothy pace. Speed numbers are fairly close. Our task is to fashion together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#7 Tahoe Tigress (Franco / Friedman) should benefit from the speedsters dueling on the front end. She holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a six race progression, and one strong workout. She should track and close magnificently. This gal is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$5 SHOW.

#4 Frosty Margarita (I. Ortiz / R. Rodriguez) has the tactical speed to stay the course no matter what develops on the front end. She holds the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two sound workouts. This gal loves the distance and the track.

#3 Absatootly (Cancel / Baker) could show some speed as she comes off a layoff. She fits in well here with a couple of good last out speed numbers and four superb peaking workouts. She has a solid in the money record overall (87%) and at the distance (100%).

#2 She's All Ready (D. Davis / Ryerson) could surprise sharing the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one bullet workout. She does have tactical speed to sit right off the pace ready to roll as the pack hits the stretch.

Stakes Saturday in South Florida

With the "Championship Season" in full swing we take in a contentious Turf battle in Florida.

Gulfstream Park Race 8 {El Prado Stakes~7 1/2 Furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

A top notch group of eight will enter the Turf gate in this annual affair. There is plenty of speed to keep a high level pace moving across the course. Speed figs are very close. It should be one of the most exciting races of the day.

#6 Go Around (Castellano / Mott) might have the edge with the second highest last out speed number at a longer route, a four race progression, and two superb workouts. This guy has the tactical speed to keep to the task. A son of Medaglia d'Oro, he is well rested and excellently pointed in this race.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#5 Flatlined (Bravo / Dickey) should produce a season best with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and two sensational peaking workouts. He loves the Gulfstream course hitting his top speed number here. A son of Flatter, he should be able to cruise close to the pace and spring forward into the stretch.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#1 Heart to Heart (Leparoux / Lynch) could off as the favorite with the highest last out speed number as well as the highest overall speed number on the Turf.  He has put in one bullet workout prepping for this race. A speedster son of English Channel, he could wire this field.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#2 Security Risk (Velazquez / McGaughey) has some significant upside potential with the fourth highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two strong workouts. He should be traveling close to the pace ready to strike. This son of War Front, will be hitting the Gulfstream Turf for the first time.

#7 Reporting Star (L. Saez / Walsh) is another that could be moving into a peak performance with a couple of excellent last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and one solid workout. A son of Circular Quay, he should travel smoothly in mid-pack readying his assault in the stretch.

Our Bronze Horseshoe runner, Stays in Vegas, finished 3rd for show money of $11.20.

Superfecta Sunday closes out the Del Mar Meet

Taking in one of the best Turf races of the Fall season of Horse Racing at historic Del Mar.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 7 {Matriarch~G1~1 mile~Turf~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A outstanding field of eleven will hit the green in this annual contest. There is a smidgeon of speed so the trackers will be forced to keep it close. Speed numbers are fairly close with four ladies hitting the elusive triple-digit level. Most in this one have been well prepped and appear to be in good form. Our task is to net a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#12 Miss Temple City (Prado / Motion) should be the deserving favorite coming from the outside post. She holds the highest (tie) last out speed number and one high quality workout. She is the lone millionaire of the group. This lady has the dominant speed fig at the distance. She should travel close to the pace ready to strike in the stretch.

#4 Zindaya (Castellano / C. Brown) should challenge with her tactical speed. She holds the third highest last out speed number and two robust workouts. This gal holds the highest career in the money record of 86%. She loves the distance and the surface.

#2 Stays in Vegas (Van Dyke / Hollendorfer) could surprise with a couple of good last out speed numbers and four powerful peaking workouts. She is 100% in the money at this distance and looks to improve again over her favored surface. This gal is a pure tracker and should be able to keep it close and explode into the stretch. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#7 Roca Rojo [IRE] (Geroux / C. Brown) will contend sharing the highest last out speed number, working a two race progression, and putting in four superb workouts. This gal will be attempting to win three in a row. She should be part of the large tracking contingent seeking to get a good trip.

Stakes Saturday on the Turf

Another wonderful Turf race in sunny Southern California is on our Stakes Saturday docket.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 7 {Hollywood Derby~G1~1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year-olds~Graded Stakes}

A smashing group of twelve will hit the Turf that meets the surf in this annual event carried over from the glory days of Hollywood Park. There is enough speed to produce an honest pace. Speed numbers are extremely close which should make a significantly competitive race. Quite a few shippers come in attempting to grab some West Coast cash. It should be one of the absolute best races of the day.

#8 Hayabusa One [FR] (Espinoza / Motion) comes in from Keeneland and looks to make another improvement in his second North American start. He holds the fourth highest (3-way tie) last out speed number at a longer Turf route, a three race progression, and four supreme peaking workouts. This son of Siyouni [FR] should travel comfortably near the pace and move smoothly into the stretch.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#7 Blackjack Cat (Smith / Glatt)  is in prime form sharing the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two mighty workouts. This guy enjoys the distance and the Del Mar course. A son of Tale of the Cat, he should run closely in the second pack of runners.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#1 Beach Patrol (Geroux / C. Brown) comes in off a modest freshening. He holds the highest (tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and four solid workouts. This lad is an impressive 88% in the money from nine starts. A son of Lemon Drop Kid, he has the tactical speed to fit right into any pace that may develop.
$2 SHOW.

#5 Free Rose (N. Arroyo / Baltas) should contend sharing the fourth highest last out speed number and two superb peaking workouts. This guy in 100% in the money at the distance and over the Del Mar course. A son of Munnings, he is another one with the tactical speed to stay the course.

#2 Camelot Kitten (I. Ortiz / C. Brown) will be in contention particularly if a strong pace develops. He shares the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and four hearty workouts. This guy has an impressive 80% in the money record over the Turf. A son of Kitten's Joy, he relishes the Turf no matter where it is.
