Horse Racing Weekend Begins at Arlington International

On this first day of our horse racing weekend, we gear up for the Arlington Million on August 16th, by taking in a nice Turf mile race at fabulous Arlington International.

Arlington International Race 4 {1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Claiming}
A great group of eight will take to the Arlington Turf.  There is enough speed to keep the pace rolling swiftly. These gals are fairly equally matched.  It should be a very nice race.

#3 Dance With Kitten (Geroux / Domenosky) has the edge with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two stout workouts.  She holds the second highest speed at the distance.  Look for her to track and close effortlessly.
$2 SHOW.

#1 Cypress Pond (Russell / Berndt) will challenge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route, a six race progression, and two robust workouts. She should be part of the leading pack of runners seeking to close them all down.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#7 Wifeonthewarpath (Emigh / Kirby) should contend with the second highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and two strong workouts. She holds the third highest speed number at this distance.  This gal should be tracking and closing smoothly.

#5 La Reine Bourbon (Marquez / Gorder) should be in the mix with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and two athletic workouts.  This gal holds the highest speed number at this distance.  Watch her tactical speed as she weighs how the pace may develop.

Superfecta Sunday at Del Mar

An enjoyable Superfecta Sunday unrolls where the Surf meets the Turf.

Del Mar Race 8 {Best Pal~G2~6 1/2 furlongs~2 year old~Stakes}
A solid field of eight will step up to the gate. There is enough speed and forwardly placed types to keep the pace honest.  All of these colts (and one gelding) will be stretching out to this distance for the first time.  There is no telling which one will make a big step forward.  All are equally talented to pull off the victory.  Our task is to attempt to sew together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket.

#5 Rowdy Dylan (Maldonado / P. Miller) might have a slight edge with the highest (tie) last out speed number and a two race progression. He should be tracking the pace in his third start of the form cycle.  He could score nicely.

#7 Skyway (Elliott / Casse) will challenge having already scored a win over the poly down at Keeneland.  He holds the fourth highest last out speed number and has put in two solid workouts over the Del Mar poly.  He is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.
$2 SHOW.

#1 Story to Tell (Talamo / Hendricks) should contend sharing the highest last out speed number and putting in two quality workouts.  He is 100% in the money from three career starts.  He has the ability to track from very close to the pace.

#6 Henry's Holiday (T. Baze / O'Neill) looks to be in the mix after a brief freshening.  He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and has put in three robust workouts prepping for this one.  Should the pace become hot, his closing style will come to the forefront.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

#5 Rowdy Dylan  +  #7 Skyway  +  #1 Story to Tell  +  #6 Henry's Holiday.

Thursday at Saratoga

We are starting off the horse racing weekend at Saratoga.

Saratoga Race 8 {NY Stallions Series~1 mile~inner Turf~3 year old~stakes}
A very nice field of seven will go to the start including two filles.  Well apportioned among all running styles will make this an excellent race to wager and watch.

#7 Hessonite (Dominguez / Donk) could surprise this field with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and three fabulous, peaking workouts.  She could track and close if the pace heats up.
$1 WIN / SHOW.

#5 Freuds Honour (J. Velazquez / Sacco) will be the prohibitive favorite with the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and is coming off a longer route in his last.  Should be forwardly placed.
$1 PLACE / SHOW.

#3 Warrior Up (Castro / Ubilio)  should run well with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one solid workout.  He should close into a very honest pace.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#6 Lady On the Run (Solis / Morrison) is the other filly that could do well sharing the second highest last out speed number, having a two race progression, and putting in two athletic workouts.  She should close in on the boys swiftly.

10 CENT Superfecta

Another Del Mar Sunday

To close out our horse racing weekend we look to a sharp 2 year old stakes race at Del Mar.

Del Mar Race 8 {Best Pal~G2~6 1/2 furlongs~2 year old~Stakes}
Seven bright eyed and bushy tailed colts will make the start in this annual competitiion.  None have made the journey at this distance.  All are 100% in the money over a synthetic surface.  Could any of these young lads rep the best of the West in KD 138, next May?  We will have to see.

We are down to a fist full of dimes.  Consequently, we will make one selection and name some other contenders to round out our 10 CENT Superfecta.  Happy racing.

#4 Night Tide (M. Garcia / Baffert)  looks ready to improve once more with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three fabulous workouts.  He will be right on the front end looking to pull away in the stretch.  The Night Tide could roll in for the win.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#7 Brigand (Gomez / Baffert) could make it another exacta for Trainer Bob Baffert.  How many times have we seen this before in the Southern Cal circuit?  This guy has the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and three robust workouts.  He should be near the lead, ready to strike.

#5 Galex (Talamo / Hollendorfer) is an improving colt with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and four fierce workouts.  He could track the pace and begin a strong push in the stretch.  He appears to have some great promise.

#1 I'll Have Another (Rosario / O'Neill) should be the speed of the race making his second career start.  He shares the second highest last out speed number with a win and has posted two strong workouts.  If he can control the pace, he could wire the field.  Another to mark down as one to watch.

10 CENT Superfecta

#4 Night Tide / #7 Brigand / #5 Galex / #1 I'll Have Another.

Saturday's Results
