It's Breeders' Cup Time

On this Furlong Friday, normally we take a look at a nice sprinty furlong race, but the Breeder's Cup is upon us. Today we take a peek at the future Derby stars .

Churchill Downs Race 9 {Sentinent Jet BREEDERS' CUP Juvenile~G1~1 1/16 mile~2 year-old~colts and geldings~Graded Stakes}

A fantastic crop of young lads will go to the gate in this multi-million dollar race. A good number of these boys will be future Derby stars, Kentucky or in another setting. This is the race to wager and watch.  A great number of speedy types will launch from the gate sure to give those coming from off the pace a reasonable chance to pull off a victory. Speed numbers are very close for the top tier and the balance of these youngsters should improve nicely. It will be the best race of the day.

#9 Game Winner (Rosario / Baffert) looks to crank off his fourth career win in a row. Coming to this race with the highest last out speed number and three strong workouts, he will be the deserved favorite. A son of Candy Ride [ARG], he should be cruising close to the pace and strike in the stretch.
$2 WIN.

#8 Standard Deviation (Castellano / C. Brown) will challenge coming from off the pace. His speed numbers are a little light, but making his third start of his career he should show great improvement. With two solid workouts and best in class connections he should be ready for the battle. A son of Curlin, he is just getting started on a sure to be successful racing career.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#12 Gunmetal Gray (Prat / Hollendorfer) looks to contend with the fourth highest last ut speed number, a three race progression, and four superlative peaking workouts. This lad has already hit the board at the distance. A son of Exchange Rate, he should be traveling close to the pace ready to launch.
$2 SHOW.

#4 Tight Ten (Santana / Asmussen) should be in the hunt with three solid last out speed numbers and four high performance, peaking workouts. This guy has already hit the board twice at Churchill Downs. A son of Tapit, he should be part of the forwardly placed crew ready to gear up when the others have folded.

Superfecta Sunday in Louisville

For this Superfecta Sunday we hope to see some great Turf action down in Kentucky.

Churchill Downs Race 9 {1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Allowance}

A good crop of twelve ladies will battle on the green in this Allowance feature. There is sufficient speed to carry the pace forward. Speed numbers are very close making it competitive for these gals. It should be a great race. Our task is to mold together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#6 Heavenly Kingdom (Geroux / Cox) might have the edge coming off a brief freshening after winning at first asking over the unique Kentucky Downs course. She holds the third highest last out speed number and has put in three superb peaking workouts. This gal should track the pace and strike in the stretch. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$3 SHOW.

#10 Tamit [IRE] (Leparoux / Casse) should challenge with a couple of good last out speed numbers and four hearty peaking workouts. This filly is 75% in the money at this distance from four efforts. She is another tracker that should mount a good kick in the stretch.

#7 Mom's On Strike (Rocco / Sharp) figures to be the favorite and the horse to beat. She holds the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two sturdy workouts. This lady could be forwardly placed in an effort to get first jump on the leaders.

#5 Little Mizzy (Lanerie / Cox) should contend with the second highest last out speed number and a two race progression. She is another tracker that should move smoothly in the stretch run. This gal is 75% in the money from four career starts.

BREEDERS' CUP at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club R11.  Longines BC TURF--G1.  Our first pick, Decorated Knight [GB] finished off the board.  Our second pick, Beach Patrol, finished 2nd for place money of $4.00 and show money of $4.50.  Our third pick, Highland Reel [IRE] finished 3rd for show money of $3.40.
Superfecta went 1-12-3-13.
Bankroll tumbles to $103.27.

Breeders' Cup Turf

On this Stakes Saturday we take in one of the premiere races on the horse racing calendar.

Del Mar Race 11 {Longines Breeders' Cup Turf~G1~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A superior field of thirteen will hit the Del Mar green in one of the best Breeders' Cup races. There is enough speed to produce a solid pace. Speed numbers are close as expected among world class horses. The field consists of six millionaires. The Euro invaders have been having an exceptional Breeders' Cup meet and have acquitted themselves nobly over the firm Turf. This should be a tremendously exciting race.

#4 Decorated Knight (Atzeni / Charlton) will be stretching out to this distance with the highest last out speed number and a two race progression. A millionaire son of Galileo [IRE], he has won eight times in his eighteen race career. This lad will be tracking the pace closely and try to get first jump on the pace-setters. He does relish firm going.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#12 Beach Patrol (Rosario / C. Brown) should pose a mighty challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three diligent workouts. He holds a win at this distance in his only try. A son of Lemon Drop Kid, he should be forwardly placed ready to strike in the stretch.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#3 Highland Reel (Moore / A. O'Brien) will contend with a couple of excellent last out speed numbers and a two race progression. He holds the second highest speed number at the distance. Another son of Galileo [IRE], he is also 80% in the money at this distance from five efforts. This lad should be near the front end heading into the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Bigger Picture (J. Velazquez / Maker) should be in the mix with the fourth highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and four superb peaking workouts. He is 100% in the money at this distance from four tries. A son of Badge of Silver, he will be tracking the leaders and launch into the stretch.

Vegas, Baby. Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile

We open up our Horse Racing Weekend with a fantastic race in the Breeders' Cup Championships.

Del Mar Race 7 {Las Vegas Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile~G1~1 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A super high caliber field of ten will compete for the million dollar purse in this mile on the dirt. There is enough speed to keep a swift pace. There are four millionaires represented and a few that are on the cusp of becoming one. Speed numbers are very close making this one any horse's race. All but one are coming into this one off a nice freshening. It should be one hell of a race.

#8 Accelerate (Espinoza / Sadler) could pull of the victory with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four supreme peaking workouts. This guy is 92% in the money from thirteen career starts. He loves the surface, loves the distance and loves Del Mar. This lad should be tracking the pace closely and get first jump on those coming from off the pace.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#3 Sharp Azteca (P. Lopez / Navarro) should be the speed of the speed with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and four speedy peaking workouts. A millionaire, he is 100% in the money at the distance. He is coming off two wins attempting to make it a third.

#9 Battle of Midway (Prat / Hollendorfer) will challenge with a couple of very good last out speed numbers and three hearty workouts. This guy has a 88% in the money record from nine career starts. He has notched a win at Del Mar and over the distance. Deploying tactical speed, he should be able hit the board.

#6 Mor Spirit (Smith / Baffert) could go off as the favorite despite having the longest layoff of this crew. He holds the highest speed number at the distance and has put in four stamina producing workouts. A millionaire, he is another that has the tactical speed to lock in as the pace develops.
