Superfecta Sunday at Sunland Park

 Another beautiful Superfecta Sunday and today we look in on a pleasing Stakes race down in New Mexico.

Sunland Park Race 9 {MineThat Bird Derby~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Stakes}

A good field of eight will go to the gate in this prep for the big Sunland Derby.

There is plenty of speedy types to rip off a strong pace. Speed numbers are very close for these improving colts and geldings. Only two have raced at this distance, the rest will be stretching out. Four Triple Crown nominees make their appearance. This race shapes up to be one in which any of these lads can win. A sweet race down in New Mexico.

#6 Striaght Up G (R. Gonzalez / Baltas) comes in from Southern California with the fourth highest last out speed number earned at this very distance and four high powered workouts. This guy should be forwardly placed in a pack of runners. A son of Straight Fire, he is 75% in the money from four career starts.

#7 American Xperiment (A Juarez / Asmussen) comes in from Oaklawn Park with the highest last out speed number and three strengthening workouts. He should battle with the pace mates. A son of Nyquist, he is 100% in the money from three career starts.

#5 Pepper Spray (L. Valenzuela / Kereluk) has already posted a victory over this track and comes in with three wins in a row from all of his three career starts. This guy should be forwardly placed. He has put in one sound workout. A son of Tale of Ekati, he will stretch out taking another step forward.

#3 Benissimo (E. Gomez / Cappellucci) will make his third career start seeking to break his maiden in this stakes race. Two sensational bullet workouts show that he is well prepped for contention. The lone closer in this group, he will take advantage of any pace implosion. A son of Pioneer of the Nile, he is 50% in the money from his two career starts.

Superfecta Sunday in the Warm Southwest

On this Superfecta Sunday we take in a nice Stakes race for New Mexico bred's.

Sunland Park Race 10 {Red Hedeman Mile Stakes~1 mile~3 year-old~NM~Stakes}

A wholesome field of ten will go to the gate in this feature stakes race. There is plenty of speed to keep the pace swift. Speed numbers for this bunch are very close giving them all a chance to have their picture taken. Our task is to rope together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket. It should be an exceptionally good race.

#2 Go Now Go (Laviolette / Fincher) looks ready to take a giant step forward with second highest (3-way tie) last out speed number and two strong workouts. He has won twice at this distance from two starts. This son of Laugh Track, is 75% in the money from eight career starts. This guy is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$3 SHOW.

#6 Ancient Land (L. Contreras / Ca. Lambert) looks to be the favorite with the highest last out speed number and three hearty workouts. He is going for his third win in a row. A son of Monterrey Jazz, he is 66% in the money from nine career starts. He should travel close to the pace.

#5 Cerveza (Chirinos / Fincher) could be in the mix with a couple of challenging last out speed numbers, but holds the fourth highest speed number over the surface. He has put in two stamina producing workouts in preparation for this race. A son of Atilla's Storm, should be forwardly placed.

#4 Effort N Results (Tohill / Marr) should challenge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and two sound workouts. This guy is 100% in the money from three career starts. A son of Shame on Charlie, he should track and close in the stretch.

Oaklawn Park R9.  Southwest Stakes--G3.  Our first pick, Silver Prospector, won (1st) for win money of $11.40 and show money of $5.10,  Our second pick, Gold Street, finished 9th (last).
Superfecta went 2-1-9-3.
Bankroll gets a pop to settle at $103.08.

Superfecta Sunday in the Land of Enchantment

With many races across the country having smaller fields on the day before Memorial Day, we make a virtual journey to the Land of Enchantment for our Superfecta Sunday.

Sunray Park Race 10 {Dine Stakes~6 1/2 Furlongs~3 year-old~NM~Stakes}

An interesting field of seven geldings will hit the Farmington, New Mexico dirt. All but one of these fellas are coming up from Sunland Park near Las Crucesm NM. There is speed which should churn up the pace. Speed figures are fairly close making for a competitive event. Our task is to tie down a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#5 My Boanerges (J. Melancon / W. Martin) has the opportunity to wire this field with the highest last out speed number and one potent bullet workout. This guy is 100% in the money from four career starts. A son of Diabolical, he has notched three wins and has progressed his speed figs with every start.

#6 Sunscreen (A. Juarez / Lambert) will challenge with the second highest last out speed number at a route and two robust workouts. This lad is 100% in the money from ten career starts. He could go off as the even money favorite. A son of Southwestern Heat, he could take his fellow geldings to task with his tracking capability.

#7 No Pasa Nada (Hebert / Buechler) is the only one that has chalked a win over the Sunray track winning last out by six lengths and achieving the fourth highest last out speed number. Since that start he has put in a quality workout. A son of Atilla's Storm, he should be forwardly placed ready to strike. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#2 Quite Peace (I. Enriquez / Marr) should contend with the third highest last out speed number at a route and three sensational workouts. Coming off a brief layoff, he should be ready to improve once again. A son of Abstraction, he should track the pace and rush into the stretch.

Monmouth Park R11.  Monmouth Stakes--G3.  Our first pick, Synchrony, finished 2nd for show money of $2.60.  Our second pick, Up the Ante, finished 8th (last).  Our third pick, Projected [GB], finished 7th.
Superfecta went 2-7-6-1.
Bankroll plummets to $2.96. We will supplement with a Jefferson for today's race.
