Pennsylvania Derby Day

 Another great Stakes Saturday unfolds as we look at another Derby for our racing action.

PARX Race 14 {Pennsylvania Derby~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A talented field of ten will go to the gate in this annual contest.

Plenty of speed in this field will create a hot pace. Speed figs are fairly close. Only three have raced over the Parx track. One millionaire makes an appearance. "The Summer Derby" on Stakes Saturday

 We journey to the "Spa" for one of the best races of the Summer.

Saratoga Race 13 {TRAVERS~G1~1 1/4 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A great group of ten will hit the dirt in this annual classic race.

Past Performances used:  DRF Formulator.

There is enough speed in this race to create a hot pace. Speed numbers are fairly close with only three having hit a triple digit Beyer speed fig. All are well prepped for this contest. Half the field has gone this distance; the other half will stretch out for the first time. Six have raced over the Saratoga track. It should be a fantastic race on a great Stakes Saturday of racing.

 We head up North to Canada to take in a million-dollar stakes race on this Stakes Saturday.

Woodbine Race 10 {Kings Plate~1 1/4 mile~ Synthetic~3 year-old~CAN~Stakes}

A great group of twelve colts, fillies, and geldings will take to the Tapeta in this annual contest.

There is sufficient speed in the race to keep the pace moving swiftly. Two fillies will challenge the lads. All will stretch out to this distance for the first time. Speed figs are fairly close.  We look in on a terrific grade one going long on the Turf on Stakes Saturday.

Saratoga Race 11 {Saratoga Derby~G1~1 3/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A reduced field of eight supremely talented horses will hit the green in this annual contest.

This race stacks up to be a very competitive event. Three will try the Saratoga course for the first time. All but two will stretch out to the distance for the first time. One will try the Turf for the first time. Speed numbers are very close. There will be some speed to keep the pace honest. It should be one of the best races of the day.

Stakes Saturday in Virginia

Off we go to Colonial Downs to take in the Arlington Million.  Boy we miss Arlington Park where this race was held on that beautiful Turf course.

A reduced field of seven will hit the lush green Colonial course.

Despite the short field, it should be a fine race. There is enough speed to create an honest pace. Speed figs are fairly close with all of these entrants having hit triple-digit numbers multiple times. Four millionaires are in the field. One of many great races on a superb Colonial Downs card.

A reduced field of eight will go to the gate in this featured contest.

There is plenty of speed here to create a frothy pace. Speed numbers are very close with all but one hitting a triple-digit speed fig at least once in their last three races.  The second jewel in the Triple Crown is on tap today. Though there will be no Triple Crown at stake as Kentucky Derby winner, Golden Tempo, has his sights set on The Belmont up at Saratoga.

 Three KD 152 prep races take place today and we focus in on a very competitive one in New York.

Aqueduct Rac 12 {Wood Memorial~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A large field of twelve will go to the gate in this Kentucky Derby points race.

This could be a more significant Derby prep race than in recent years. A nice full field should demonstrate the horse's capability with dealing with a large field like the Kentucky Derby. There is enough speed in the race to produce a very quick pace. Speed numbers are fairly close. Only four have competed at this distance. Five will try the Aqueduct track for the first time. All are very competent over dirt. It should be not only an exciting race, but a fantastic wagering race.

 As we stride closer to the first Saturday in May, we take a look at another prep race for the big dance.

Tampa Bay Downs Race 11 {Tampa Bay Derby~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year-olds~Graded Stakes}

A nice field of nine will go to the gate in this Kentucky Derby points race.

A very competitive field will battle for the points. Speed figs are fairly close with each of these showing different levels of improvement. Two maidens have made the field. Only three have run over the Tampa Bay dirt. One will be cutting back in distance and three will be stretching out to the distance. Stakes Saturday at the Pegasus World Cup Races

 We look at one of the races on the Pegasus World Cup on this Stakes Saturday.

Gulfstream Park Race 12 {Pegasus W.C. Turf Invitational~G1~1 1/8 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A full field of twelve will hit the grass in this annual grade one.

There is some speed in this race should keep the pace rolling. Speed figs are exceptionally close making it super competitive. Six millionaires are in the race.
