Superfecta Sunday in Houston

Have to get some Turf in our system as we look in on Houston for our Superfecta Sunday.

Sam Houston Race Park Race 8 {John B. Connally Turf Cup~G3~1 1/2 mile~TURF~4 year old Up~Graded Stakes}

An interesting group of eight will hit the Houston grass in this annual stakes race. There is very little speed. Speed numbers are fairly close. A number ship in from other circuits which should give it a great deal more competitiveness. Our task is to thread a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#8 Oscar Nominated (Geroux / Maker) might have the edge with the second highest last out speed number and one quality workout. This lad will stretch out to the distance, but should be quite capable of handling it. He should be tracking the pace closely. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#4 Bigger Picture (J. Ortiz / Maker) will submit a mighty challenge with the highest speed number at the distance and four superb peaking workouts. This guy also holds the highest speed number over the Turf. He is another that should be close to the pace.

#5 Greengrassofyoming (Albarado / Maker) should contend with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four hearty workouts. The most seasoned horse in the race, he will be closing gallantly into the stretch.

#1 Domikate (Singh / Pearson) could be in the hunt with the fourth highest last out speed number and two robust workouts. He loves the Turf surface and the Sam Houston course. Expect him to track the pace relatively closely, then spring into the stretch.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

#8 Oscar Nominated  +  #4 Bigger Picture  +  #5 Greengrassofyoming  +  #1 Domikate.

Superfecta Sunday in Tinsel Town

Concluding our abbreviated horse racing weekend with a terrific Turf mile at Hollywood Park, we will try to cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

Betfair Hollywood Park Race 5 {Matriarch~G1~1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}
A super high quality field of eight will prance onto the grass in this annual race.  It comes up equally divided between the forwardly placed and those coming from off the pace.  All but two in here have had a short freshening before heading back to competition.  It will be an exciting race.

#2 Emulous [GB] (Smullen / Weld) could go off as the favorite with a superb last out race in Ireland.  She is sporting a two race progression and has put in one quality workout.  This is her distance as she is 85% in the money in the Turf mile.  Clearly the one to beat.

#5 Dayatthespa (Castellano / C. Brown) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and four robust peaking workouts.  She should be forwarly placed ready to strike at the top of the stretch.

#8 Future Generation [IRE] (Dominguez / Clement) should be in contention with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one efficient workout.  She should stay close ready to pounce.  She has three wins at six starts at this distance.  This Irish bred is our bronze horseshoe selection for this Superfecta Sunday.
$2 SHOW.

#1 Tiz Flirtatious (Bejarano / M. Jones) should be a contender with the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three hearty workouts.  She is 100% in the money in her five race career.  Look for her to stride from off the pace.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

Calder Turf, Warm and Wonderful

We are back on an exciting Stakes Saturday looking at a classic Turf race at venerable Calder Race Course.

Calder Racecourse Race 9 {W.L. McKnight~G2~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A beautiful day in the Miami area will shine down on the horses.  This race comes up as a competitive one with a field of ten to start on the grass.  Very little speed may give the front runners an edge.  Most of the field will be tracking and closing in this one.  Could be an opportunity for all these talented horses.

#1 Ioya Bigtime (J. Sanchez / Block) may have the edge as the only speedster in the race.  This guy could control the pace on the front.  He holds the fourth highest speed number, a two race progression, and three superb workouts.  He could out dash the favorite.
$1 WIN / $2 SHOW.

#5 Forte Dei Marmi [GB] (G. Saez / Attfield) is the deserved favorite with the highest last out speed number, the highest speed number at the distance, and two robust workouts.  He will be coming late, hoping for a decent pace.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.

#9 Prince Will I Am (Jara / Nihei) should be a contender with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one solid workout.  He should be tracking the pace and launch into the stretch rapidly.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#8 Center Divider (L. Saez / Walsh) has run up against some mighty competition at this distance and has yet to find himself in the money.  This race presents an honest opportunity for him to get some cha ching.  He has a couple of decent last out speed numbers and three robust workouts.  He will press the pace.

10 CENT Superfecta

#1 Ioya Bigtime, #5 Forte Dei Marmi [GB] / #1, #5 / #9 Prince Will I Am, #8 Center Divider / #9, #8.

Fair Grounds for the Turf

Finishing out our horse racing weekend we go to the Turf at Fair Grounds Race Track.

Fair Grounds Race 9 {1 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~Allowance}
This race has a nice large field of twelve.  The weather in New Orleans is expected to be Sunny and 59 degrees so it should stay on the Turf.  Royal And Flashy (Clark / Breaux) has the edge with the third highest speed number at the distance, a decent last out speed number at a longer route, and two fine workouts.  Musicstreet Menace (Campbell / Scherer) will challenge with the highest speed number at the distance, also a decent speed number over a longer route, and two strong workouts.  Looks Purrrfect (Bridgmohan / Asmussen) has been prepared nicely for this race with two robust, peaking workouts.  Longhammer (Theriot / Mott) will be making his second career start coming off a longer route over the slop and putting in two great workouts.  Waystogeaux (Camejo / Gomez) will be in the hunt with the highest last out speed number, a six race progression, and two athletic workouts.  Also in the hunt will be Quarter Given (Graham / Hanna) with fourth highest speed number at the distance, a decent speed number at a longer route and two hearty workouts.  Let's play Fair Grounds.
