Superfecta Sunday Long on the Turf

We take in a race where the Turf meets the surf as we go long on this Superfecta Sunday.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 7 {1 3/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Optional Claiming}

A good group of nine will hit the green in this featured event for regally bred stayers. No speedsters in this one, but a few that like to be forwardly placed may make for a steady pace. Speed numbers are very close making it any horses race. The large majority of these will be stretching out to this "marathon" distance for the first time. Our task is cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#1 Red King (Pereira / D'Amato) should go off as the deserved favorite with the highest last out speed number at the same distance and three endurance building workouts. This lad is 60% in the money at the distance from five starts. Truly, he is the one to beat. A son of English Channel, he should be tracking and closing gallantly.

#7 North County Guy (Gutierrez / Baltas) will be stretching out to this distance with three very good last out speed numbers and four high powered workouts that include three bullets. He enjoys the surface and loves the Del Mar course. A son of The Pamplemousse, he is 65% in the money from twenty career starts. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#5 Buckstopper Kit (Cedillo / D'Amato) is another that will be stretching out with the second highest last out speed number and three hearty workouts. This guy is another that should be part of the forwardly placed pack. A son of Kitten's Joy, he is 50% in the money over the Del Mar course from six starts.

#8 Unapologetic (Talamo / P. Miller) should challenge mightily with the fourth highest last out speed number and two strong peaking workouts. This closer favors the distance, surface, and Del Mar course. A son of Temple City, he holds the highest speed number at the distance.

Aqueduct R9.  Red Smith Stakes--G3.  Our first pick, Sadler's Joy, won (1st) for win money of $2.35.  Our second pick, Marzo, finished 8th.  Our third pick, Tiz a Slam, finished 7th.
Despite having the winner, we failed in our $1 Saturday Exacta Wheel.
Superfecta went 7-8-6-10.
Bankroll takes a tumble to $67.94.

Big "A" Stakes Saturday

On this Stakes Saturday we go long on the New York Turf at the "Big "A".

Aqueduct Race 9 {Red Smith Stakes~G3~1 3/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A splendid field of eleven will hit the New York Turf in this annual feature. There is enough speed to maintain a sound pace for this "marathon" distance. Speed numbers are fairly close with a number of standouts and those still improving. Only one millionaire goes to the gate, the favorite, Sadler's Joy.  It should be a fantastically exciting race.

#7 Sadler's Joy (Castellano / Albertrani) is the favorite with the highest last out speed number, the highest speed number at the distance, and the highest (tie) speed number over the Aqueduct TURF. He has put in four solid workouts in preparation. This millionaire son of Kitten's Joy, is 66% in the money at the distance from nine starts. He should track and close speedily.
$1 WIN.

#4 Marzo (I. Ortiz / Maker) looks to challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and two hearty workouts. This lad continues to show improvement increasing his speed numbers in each of his last three races. A son of Medaglia d'Oro, he is 87% in the money over the Turf from eight starts. He should track the pace closely and strike in the stretch.

#1 Tiz a Slam (Bahen / Attfield) comes down from Canada to contend with this talented group. He holds the second highest last out speed number and four powerful workouts. This guy should be forwardly placed battling for position. A son of Tiznow, he has already hit the board in his only effort at this distance.

#2 Petit Fils [FR] (Rosario / Clement) could surprise, making his North American debut at a much shorter distance than his last. Having raced in France, he is 76% in the money from thirteen career starts. A son of Makifi [GB] he should be tracking ready to roll over the good ground.

Let's Sprint on Superfecta Sunday

On this Superfecta Sunday we take in a nice little sprint race down in Southern California.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 5 {6 Furlongs~3 year-old~Fillies~Claiming}

An interesting group of seven gals will go to the gate in this mid-level claiming event. There is enough speed to keep the pace honest. Speed numbers seem to be very close. Our task is to wire together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. It should be a good race.

#2 Super Klaus (A. Espinoza / V. Garcia) might have a slight edge with a strong pace up front. She holds the third highest last out speed number at a route and two solid workouts. A daughter of Flashback, she is 62% in the money from eight career starts. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Nomizar (T. Baze / Hanson) should challenge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and three strong workouts. This gal enjoys the surface and distance notching a win over the Del Mar dirt. A daughter of Tapizar, she is 66% in the money at the distance from three starts. Should be forwardly placed.

#7 Portal Creek (Valdivia / Sadler) will contend as a possible favorite with the third highest last out speed number and four superb peaking workouts. This gal is another with strong efforts at the distance hitting the board 60% of the time. A daughter of Shanghai Bobby, she will be near the front end.

#1 Time for Suzzie (Diaz / Cerin) should be in the mix with the highest last out speed number and three sound workouts. She also has an affinity for the distance with a 72% in the money record from seven starts at six furlongs. A daughter of Time to get Even, she should be tracking ready to strike in the stretch.

Churchill Downs R10. River City Handicap--G3.  Our first pick, Mr. Misunderstood, won (1st) for win money of $11.20, place money of $9.30, and show money of $7.50.  Our second pick, Admission Office, finished 3rd for show money of $3.30.  Our third pick, Get Western, finished 9th.
While we had the winner, we failed in our $1 Saturday Exacta Wheel effort.
Superfecta went 4-1-9-7.

Stakes Saturday Down in Kentucky

Feels like Winter, but it is still Fall as we seek out some Turf on this Stakes Saturday. Alas, down Kentucky way we find some cherished Turf.

Churchill Downs Race 10 {River City Handicap~G3~1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~graded Stakes}

A quality group of ten will hit the green in this annual contest. Short on speed with most coming in as trackers and/or closers. Speed numbers are very close making this race truly competitive. It should be an excellent race.

#4 Mr. Misunderstood (Geroux / B. Cox) might have the edge with the highest speed number at the distance and four outstanding works coming into the race. He loves the surface, distance and Churchill course. A son of Archarcharch, he should be tracking closely ready to pounce. Second best in the money performer at 72% from twenty-five career starts.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#9 Admission Office (J. Ortiz / Lynch) will pose a significant challenge with the highest last out speed number and four superb workouts. This lad holds the highest in the money performance of 87% from eight career starts. A son of Point of Entry, he is another that relishes the surface, distance, and Churchill. Look for him to close gallantly.

#8 Get Western (B. Hernandez / Lopresti) should contend with the second highest last out speed number and three hearty peaking workouts. He will be stretching out to this distance. This lad loves the Churchill course hitting the board 75% from four starts over it. A son of Get Stormy, he is the lone speed and has the potential to wire this field.

#3 Blue Sky Kowboy (Doyle / Boyce) could surprise having hit the board in his last three over Turf and synthetic up in Illinois. He will stretch out for this race. This guy does hold the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and one quality workout. Look for this son of Kodiak Kowboy to improve on the step up. closing well.

A Sprinty Superfecta Sunday

On this Superfecta Sunday we take in a nice stakes sprint in Southern California.

Del Mar Race 8 {Desi Arnaz Stakes~6 1/2 Furlongs~2 year-old~Fillies~Stakes}

A small field of six will saunter to the gate in this annual affair. There is plenty of speed to produce a hot pace. Speed numbers are fairly close for these youngsters. They have all been working diligently to establish a good base for their coming three year-old season. Our task is to weave together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#6 Stellar Sound (Van Dyke / Baffert) looks to be in tip-top form coming out of a slightly longer sprint with the second highest speed number. She has put in four superb peaking workouts in a brief layoff. A daughter of Tapit, she should be tracking the pace-setters. Fresh and ready, she is our Bronze Horseshoe selection. She should kick it home brilliantly given the sizzling pace that should unfold.

#5 Orquidias Biz (M. Smith / Mullins) should be coming into it with her maiden win last out over a Turf surface. This gal has produced two hearty workouts during the last thirty days. A daughter of Fed Biz, she has already run well over the Del Mar track. Another tracker that should benefit from a speedy pace.

#3 Roadrunners Honor (Bejarano / O'Neill) will be making her second career start after winning her maiden last out. She produced the third highest last out speed number and has put in two quality workouts. A daughter of Honor Code, she should be forwardly placed ready for battle on the front end.

#4 Leucothoa (Cedillo / P. Miller) should be the favorite with an outstanding speed figure last out and two strong workouts. This gal should be part of the speed contingent on the front end, dueling for position. A daughter of Midshipman, she is one of two that have already won twice.

Stakes Saturday in New York

Back in action on this glorious Stakes Saturday.

Aqueduct Race 8 {Artie Schiller Stakes~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

A robust field of nine will hit the green in this annual event. There is an abundance of speed which should make for a sizzling pace. Only one,Voodoo Song, has raced over the Aqueduct Turf. Speed numbers are very close. It should be one of the best races on the day.

#1 Frontier Market (I. Ortiz / C. Brown) might have the edge having never been off the board in six starts at this very distance. He holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number and four efficient workouts. A son of Lemon Drop Kid, he is an outstanding 90% in the money from eleven career starts. Expect him to close them down.

#8 Caribou Club (Lynch / Proctor) should challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and four superior workouts. This guy has won nine and is 71% in the money from twenty-one career starts. A son of  City Zip, he is another that will track and close swiftly. Loves the surface and distance.
