Furlong Friday at Arlington

On the eve of the Arlington Million, we take a look at a neat TURF sprint for maidens.

Arlington International Race 8 {5 furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~fillies/mares~Maiden Claiming}

A interesting group of nine will take to the green in the last race on today's Arlington card. Speed numbers are relatively close and there is enough speed and forwardly placed types to keep a solid pace. In total, these gals have had eighty chances to capture their maiden. Consequently, we will go with the first time starter which should have profitable odds.

#9 War Pass (Esquivel / Kirby) is the only first time starter in the race. She is well prepped with four superb peaking workouts. The Jockey / Trainer stats rank among the best in this field. She should race valiantly against this field.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#8 Seven Zip (Roman / Johns) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and one peaking workout. The progeny of City Zip are always a welcome wager in sprint contests. This lass has the second highest speed number at the distance which adds to her appeal.

Other Wagering Interests

#2 Nelvyn's Flyer (Homeister / DiVito) has the best stats of the group. She holds the second highest last out speed number and has put in one hearty workout. This gal holds the highest speed number at the distance with a 75% in the money record at same. But she hasn't won in eighteen starts. She will be the favorite.

#4 La Activa (Wright / Darjean) is making her seventh try in an attempt to secure her maiden. Her last two were decent and she will be dropping in class to hit the objective. She has put in two stellar workouts prepping. This gal will take up a tracking position seeking to surge into the stretch.

Saratoga R9.  NY Stallions Series Stakes.  Our first pick, Amazing Anne, finished 4th. Our second pick, Freudie Annie, won (1st) for show money of $1.60.
Superfecta went 3-4-1-8.
Bankroll dips to $43.76.

Thursday Turfday at Santa Anita

Today we begin a big horse racing weekend with a supremely competitive Turf mile.

Santa Anita Race 6 {1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Allowance}
A sturdy group of nine will take to the green in this allowance feature.  There is enough speed to develop a steady pace flow.  All of these gals are within points of one another in terms of speed numbers over the grass.  It should be a sensational race in which any of these sassy Turfers emerging as the winner.

#1 Kathleen Rose (Maldonado / Machowsky) might have a slight edge with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four superb workouts.  She should be forwardly placed and quicken in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

#7 One Time Only (Van Dyke / Proctor) should be the speed of the race.  She holds the highest last out speed number, a seven race progression, and has put in three stellar workouts. This gal is 83% in the money over the Turf from six starts.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#6 Rhagori [GB] (Bejarano / Callaghan) will challenge mightily with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route and two robust workouts.  She shares the highest speed number over the Santa Anita turf.

#3 Wittgenstein [IRE] (Gutierrez / O'Neill) should contend with a couple of good last out speed numbers and two stamina producing workouts.  She should be tracking the pace ready to pounce.

Superfecta Sunday at the Big "A"

Ah, its Kentucky Derby week and the excitement builds toward the first Saturday in May.  Today we take a look at a nice Stakes race at the Big "A".

Aqueduct Race 9 {NY Stallion Stakes~6 1/2 furlongs~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
A really nice field of eight will hit the dirt in speedy fashion.  Three quarters of the field have the need for speed in this feature race.  It could be the ones that sit right off the pace that come through.  Our task is to knit a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#5 Storied Lady (Castellano / Hertler) should benefit from a sizzling pace.  She holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number at a route, a five race progression, and two solid workouts.  This gal will be tracking the pace ready to strike.

#4 Bella the Bandit (I. Ortiz / L. Rice) should challenge with a forwardly placed effort.  She shares the third highest last out speed number at a sprint, has stitched a two race progression, and has put in two sound peaking workouts.  This filly is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#2 Henry's Gal (C. Velasquez / Rodriguez) is likely to go off as the clear favorite with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two hearty workouts.  This gal will show significant speed and could wire this field.

#7 Miss Narcissist (Alvarado / L. Rice) is coming off an extended layoff, but should do just fine.  Prior to the layoff she sported the second highest last out speed number and has put in three robust workouts prepping for her return to racing.  She too will show speed.

Lone Star Park R8.  Texas Mile--G3.  Our first pick, Bourbon Courage, finished 3rd for show money of $3.90.  Our second pick, Forest Mouse, finished 7th.  Our third pick, Proud Strike, finished 6th.
Superfecta went 3-5-6-1.
Bankroll gets smoked, dipping to $8.89.
