Let's Go to the Tapeta on Superfecta Sunday

 On to South Florida for some exciting Tapeta action on our Superfecta Sunday.

Gulfstream Park Race 9 {1 1/8 mile~Tapeta~4 year-old Up~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A talented group of ten will go to the gate in this Allowance race.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is plenty of speed in this race to create a frothy pace. Speed numbers are very close. There are two which will be moving from Turf to Tapeta and one moving from the dirt. Six have traveled over the Gulfstream Synthetic while only four have gone this distance. It should be a fantastic race.

#10 Swore (J. Ruiz / Motion) is one of those making a surface switch from Turf to Tapeta coming off a marathon distance of two miles. Add in one wholesome workout and this lad is good to go. He should track the pace and strike in the stretch. A son of Broken Vow, he is 57% in the money from seven starts.

#2 Patou Road (Gaffalione / C. Brown) will challenge coming down in class and distance. He holds the third highest last out speed number and three consistent workouts. This guy should track the pace closely. A son of Quality Road, he is 50% in the money from four starts.

#1 Possiblemente (Castellano / D. Rodriguez) will contend with the second highest last out speed number and three favorable workouts. He relishes the surface, distance, and track. Look for him to also track the pace closely. A son of Tale of Ekati, he is 90% in the money from ten starts.

#4 Sara's Shaman (Zayas / S.A. Joseph) comes off a modest layoff dropping in class and distance. He should tuck in right behind the leaders. His stellar workout tab should give him some value. A son of Shaman Ghost, he holds a win rate of 25% from four starts.

Stakes Saturday at Turfway

 Heading into the winter season there is one Track that usually has bountiful fields. Turfway Park is our virtual destination on this Stakes Saturday as we view a large field in a Stakes sprint.

Turfway Park Race 7 {Holiday Inaugural Stakes~6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies and Mares~Stakes}

A fine field of twelve will strut to the gate in this sprint over the Tapeta surface.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is plenty of speed in this race. Speed numbers are very close reflecting a competitive race. Only three have not raced over the synthetic contrasting that with only four that have raced at Turfway. Pedigrees suggest that all will like the surface. It should be a great race to wager and watch.

#2 Dynasty of her Own (McKee / Beatie) comes in from Presque Isle Downs where she won her last at the same distance. Throw in two strong workouts in the last thirty days and she should race well enough for a victory. This gal relishes the surface and the distance. Look for her to battle convincingly in the front pack. A daughter of Shanghai Bobby, she is 63% in the money from twenty-seven career starts.

#9 Ready to Venture [GB] (Corrales / Stidham) also comes in from Presque Isle with the third highest last out speed number at a route and three solid workouts. She should track the pace closely. A daughter of Kingman [GB], she is 68% in the money from sixteen career starts.

#7 Miner's Queen (Sanjur / R. Hernandez) makes the switch from Turf to Synthetic and should enjoy it. She holds the highest last out speed number earning a win at Keeneland over the Turf. A couple of good workouts add to her cache. Look for her to track the pace as well. A daughter of Bernardini, she is 41% in the money from seventeen career starts.

Superfecta Sunday in Kentucky

 On this Superfecta Sunday we go to that great little track in Kentucky, Turfway Park.

Turfway Park Race 7 {1 1/16 mile~Tapeta~3 year-old Up~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A flush field of twelve will hit the synth in this penultimate race on today's card.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is sufficient speed and forwardly placed types to warrant an honest pace. Speed figs are very close among this group. Only three will attempt the synthetic for the first time. It should be a fantastic race to wager and watch.

#4 Tiesto (C. Landeros / J. Carroll) comes in off a longer route up at Woodbine. He holds the highest last out speed number and one diligent workout, Look for him to amongst the tracking herd. This lad thrives at this distance. A son of Tiznow, he is 57% in the money from seven career starts.

#3 Bless the Kitten (A. Jimenez / Grubbs) comes in off a longer route at Churchill Downs, however he is 100% in the money over the synthetic from six starts. Additionally he holds three wins from five starts at the distance. He should be forwardly placed battling for position. A son of Kitten's Joy, he is 59% in the money from twenty-two career starts.

#10 Fly Nightly (Emigh / Vandenberg) comes out of a Turf race up at Hawthorne Race Course finishing third there. This gelding holds the highest speed number at the distance and over the synthetic, albeit Polytrack. Look for him to be close to the pace. A son of The Factor, he is 65% in the money from twenty-three career starts.

#1 Prince Maior (Machado / Lobo) comes in out of a Turf race at Mountaineer where he was victorious. He has the tactical speed to fit the pace that develops. He has hit the board in his only attempt over this surface at Turfway. A son of Data Link, he is 66% in the money from nine career starts.

Superfecta Sunday in the Land of Enchantment

A Superfecta Sunday derby prep is on tap in the state of New Mexico as we take in the Sunland Derby.

Sunland Park Race 9 {Sunland Derby~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A great field of eleven will go to the gate in this KD 143 prep race with points on the line. Great American trainers have shipped in their charges with the hope of getting them into this years Kentucky Derby. There is sufficient speed to create an honest pace. Speed figs are close as all of these lads will stretch out to this distance for the first time. There are seven Triple Crown nominees in the field. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. It should be a fantastic race.

#3 Bronze Age (M. Garcia / Baffert) has the edge with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three exceptional workouts. This guy will show speed as he seeks to wire the field. He comes in from Santa Anita.

#2 Hedge Fund (J. Ortiz / Pletcher) should challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and four superb workouts. This lad should be sitting right off the pace ready to roll into the stretch. He comes in from Gulfstream Park.

#6 Dilettante (G. Stevens / Lukas) should contend sharing the second highest last out speed number, working a three race progression, and putting in three smashing workouts. He has the tactical speed to sit keenly in positon and rock into the stretch. This colt comes in from Oaklawn Park. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#10 Balandeen (Hill / Hartman) should be in the hunt with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and two stout workouts. He should take up a tracking position and streak into the stretch. He also comes in from Oaklawn Park.

Stakes Saturday at Night

Looking in on Kentucky for a nice stakes race.

Turfway Park Race 6 {Forego Stakes~6 1/2 furlongs~4 year-old Up~Stakes}

A great group of nine will go to the gate in this annual sprint. There is plenty of speed to produce a strong pace. Speed numbers are all fairly close. All of these lads have traveled over synthetic surface with aplomb. It should be a very exciting race in the night.

#6 Dac (Prescott / Brumley) looks duplicate his last out winning effort in a stakes event. he holds the second highest last out speed number at a route, a four race progression, and two dynamic workouts. This son of Distorted Humor should track the pace in solid position.

#7 Cerro [IRE] (O. Mojica / Howard) should challenge with a couple of very good last out speed numbers and one hearty workout. He could be part of the pace. A son of Mr. Greely, he is 60% in the money from forty career starts.

#2 Ghost is Clear (McKee / Maker) should contend with the highest speed number at the distance and three robust workouts. This guy has one fourteen times in his career while achieving a 60% in the money record from forty-three starts. A son of Ghostzapper he should track the pace and strike in the stretch.

Stakes Saturday at Turfway

Another Kentucky Derby prep race on a glorious Stakes Saturday. Off to Kentucky to take in a fascinating race on the synthetic.

Turfway Park Race 11 {Horsehoe Casino Cincinnati Spiral~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}
A great crop of eleven will cantor to the gate in this featured Graded Stakes race. There is enough speed in here to keep a sound pace on this speed favoring track. The speed numbers are all relatively comparable. There are 50 KD points at stake for the winner thereby putting him in the mix for the twenty gate positions in this year's Kentucky Derby. It should be a great race.

#9 Conquest Typhoon (Smith / Casse) might have a slight edge with the third highest (tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and three stellar workouts. This son of Stormy Atlantic has a versatile running style that can handle whatever pace develops. He ships in off a third place finish in the El Camino Real over the Tapeta surface at Golden Gate Fields.

#11 Metaboss (Solis / Bonde) will challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and three strong workouts. This son of Street Boss should be tracking the pace closely and strike in the stretch. He comes in off the win in the El Camino Real.

#4 Wireless Future (Geroux / Amoss) will contend sharing the second highest speed number, a five race progression, and four hearty workouts. This son of Scat Daddy can be expected to sit right off the pace and launch his kick coming into the stretch. He is coming in from Fair Grounds and will be stretching out in distance.
