Another New Yorky Superfecta Sunday

On this Superfecta Sunday, we take a look at a wonderful Turf Sprint in upstate New York.

Saratoga R9 {Smart N Fancy~5 1/2 furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Stakes}

A great group of twelve Turf sprinters will take to the beautifully maintained Saratoga course.  There is so much speed in this one that it has a chance to really boil over giving those coming from off the pace the edge. Speed numbers are fairly close. Our task is to sew together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#12 Epping Forest (Rosario / Clement) should get enough pace to chart a third win in a row. She holds the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two wholesome workouts. This daughter of Exchange Rate is 72% in the money from eleven career starts.
She is our Bronze horseshoe selection.

#5 Tillies Lily (Castellano / Thomas) could be one of the favs seeking her fifth career win in a row. She holds the third highest last out speed number at a bit longer sprint, a four race progression, and three hearty workouts. A daughter of Distorted Humor, she will be part of the speedy crew on the front end.

#3 Chanteline (Santana / Asmussen) will challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and three superb, peaking workouts. This gal will be forwardly placed seeking to strike in the stretch run. A daughter of Majesticperfection she holds seven career runs and a 70% in the money record from twenty-four career starts.

#1 Battle Joined (Bravo / Hennig) should contend with the fourth highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two stout workouts. She will be seeking her third win in a row. Another who should be in the forwardly placed battle for position, this daughter of War Front is 50% in the money from six career starts.

Superfecta Sunday at Saratoga

As summer quietly nears its unofficial end, we take in a Turf sprint up at the "Spa".

Saratoga Race 6 {5 1/2 furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~NY~Allowance}

From a pedigree perspective this is one of the nicest fields for a New York bred Allowance race. Ten will hit the Saratoga green in what should be a very exciting race. There is an excellent amount of speed to take these lads around the course swiftly. Speed numbers are fairly close which guarantees a competitive event. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#6 Source Control (I. Ortiz / R. Rodriguez) should have the speed to run into. He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and two sound workouts. This guy will be making a short cut-back and is 77% in the money over Turf. A son of Sidney's Candy, could run them all down in the closing stages.

#7 We Should Talk (Santana / De Paz) is coming off a lengthy layoff, but has put in a seriously strong workout tab of five significant works. He will be making the switch from the dirt to the Turf in this his fourth career start. This gelded son of Gemologist, is another that should benefit from a fast pace. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#3 Vistal (J. Ortiz / Colebrook) could go off as one of the favorites with the highest speed number over the Turf and distance. He holds a couple of decent last out speed numbers. This son of Tapizar should be forwardly placed ready for battle near the front end.

#9 Not So Quiet Man (Castellano / Ryan) should challenge with the highest last out speed number and two quality peaking workouts. This lad has the best in the money performance at this distance (55%0 of this group. A son of Freud, he should be forwardly placed ready to strike going into the stretch.

Furlong Friday along the Surf

On this Furlong Friday we take in a sweet Turf sprint near the Pacific.

Del Mar Race 7 {Green Flash Stakes~5 Furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

A sprinty field of eight will cantor over to the grass in this money event. There is Speed O' Plenty which could boil over. Speed numbers for the top contenders are very close. The rest are giving it a shot. It should be a very fine race.

#1 Richard's Boy (Gaffalione / Miller) is coming off a reasonable layoff after a trip to Dubai where he finished sixth in a high level sprint. This guy shows the second highest speed number at the distance and has put in five top level workouts prepping for his return to the green. A son of Idiot Proof, he has the speed to stay with the leaders.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#7 Pee Wee Reese (Talamo / D'Amato) could be the speed of the speed with the third highest last out speed number and two peaking bullet workouts. He holds the highest speed number over the Turf. A son of Tribal Rule, he has a solid 75% in the money record from twelve career starts.

#3 Tribalist (T. Baze / Heap) should challenge with highest (tie) last out speed number and two solid workouts. He has the tactical speed to embrace whatever speed situation develops. Another son of Tribal Rule, he is a remarkable 90% in the money from ten career starts.

#2 Stormy Liberal (Van Dyke / Miller) has been running lights out as of late and should go off as the favorite. He shares the highest last out speed number and has put in three strong workouts. A son of Stormy Atlantic, he could sit off the speed and come a running into the stretch.

Superfecta Sunday at Ol' Del Mar

We look in on a nice Turf mile on this Superfecta Sunday.

Del Mar Race 8 {1 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Claiming}

A couple of scratches have reduced the field to seven in this claiming event on the grass. There is enough speed to keep a solid pace. Speed numbers are super close. It should be quite the competitive event. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#3 Flip The Coin Jan (Gutierrez / O'Neill) might have the edge with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression and two dynamite workouts. This guy should be forwardly placed seeking to strike going into the stretch. A son of Trappe Shot, he will be cutting back to this distance in his third start of the form cycle.

#9 Upo (Van Dyke / Miller) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression and two hearty workouts. This lad will be tracking the pace looking for an opening in the stretch. A son of Archarcharch, he relishes the distance and the Del Mar course. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#5 East Rand (Quinonez / Mullins) could go off as the favorite with the highest last out speed number coming out of a Stakes race. He is working a five race progression and has put in two solid workouts. A son of Denman [AUS], he should be closing swiftly in the stretch.

#2 Shadow Sphinx (Prat / Baltas) should contend with a solid speed fig two starts ago and four supreme workouts. This lad should be forwardly placed in good position. A son of Pioneer of the Nile, he has hit the board at this distance and is 66% in the money over Turf.

Arlington Million Day

Already some great Turf action on this years Million card. It is one of the greatest Stakes Saturdays of the year.

Arlington International Race 11 {36th Running of the ARLINGTON MILLION~G2~1 1/4 Mile~TURF~3 year old Up}

A fantastic field of nine will hit the Turf in this years running of the Million. Interesting to note that there are only three millionaires among the group. There is enough speed to make for an honest pace. Any one of these guys has a chance to pull off the victory. Speed figs are very close. It will be an exceptionally competitive event. Without question, one of the best races of the summer.

#9 Deauville [IRE] (Moore / A. O'Brien) looks ready for his return to the Arlington Turf. He shows a couple of good Racing Post ratings, a two race progression, and one sound workout. This lad holds the third highest speed number at the distance. He loves the Arlington Turf and should be in the thick of it when the gates open. A millionaire son of Galileo [IRE], he has one of the best jockey's in the world, Ryan Moore, and one of the best trainers in the world, Aidan O'Brien, in his corner.

#11 Oscar Performance (J. Ortiz / Lynch) could go off as the joint favorite with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four outstanding, peaking workouts. This guy loves the Turf and the Arlington course. Rested and ready, he should show speed from the start. A millionaire son of Kitten's Joy, he will be going for his eighth career win.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#10 Robert Bruce [CHI] (I. Ortiz / C. Brown) should be one of the favorites with the highest last out speed number, an eight race progression, and four superb peaking workouts. This colt had tremendous efforts in his native Chile rattling off six wins in a row before winning his first North American start for an 87% win rate from eight starts. A son of Fast Company [IRE], he his running for the best jockey / trainer tandem in the USA.
$2 SHOW.

#5 Century Dream [IRE] (Buick / Crisford) should be in the mix for his first North American start. He holds a couple of fine Racing Post last out ratings and is sure to enjoy the Arlington Turf. With a 60% in the money record, he will be guided by one of the top jockey's in the World, William Buick, who is no stranger to the Arlington grounds. A son of Cape Cross [IRE], he should be tracking the pace closely.

Superfecta Sunday along the Surf

We watch the youngsters zip along the dirt on this Superfecta Sunday.

Del Mar Race 8 {Sorrento Stakes~G2~6 Furlongs~2 year-old~Fillies~Graded Stakes}

A smashing field of ten will saunter over to the gate in this annual affair. Only three have raced twice. It looks like it could be a very speedy race as most of these gals try to position themselves for victory. Speed numbers are all over the map as these youngsters learn the racing game. It should be a fascinating race. Our task is to knit together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket.

#9 Boujie Girl (G. Franco / Miller) might have the edge with the second highest speed number and three top shelf workouts. This gal has already won over the Del mar oval in her only race. A daughter of  Flashback, she should be forwardly placed in the second flight of runners. She is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.
$2 SHOW.

#2 Dragic (Bejarano / W. Ward) comes in after a modest layoff last racing at Keeneland. She won at four and half furlongs for which there is no Beyer speed figure recorded. This gal has been working well with four sound works on her 30 day tab. This daughter of Broken Vow should be part of the speed scenario.

#7 Stirred (Van Dyke / McCarthy) looks ready to shake things up with a good speed figure last out when she broke her maiden at Santa Anita. This gal has put in four stamina producing workouts. A daughter of Shakin It Up, she will be tracking the pace looking to strike.

#6 Summerland (T. Baze / Hall) comes down from Hastings across the border in Canada. She has won both of her starts posting the fourth highest speed number of this crew. She will show speed and if her two superb peaking workouts are any indication, she is ready to compete on a much grander stage. A daughter of He's Tops, she will be seeking her third win in a row.

Stakes Saturday at the "Spa"

On this Stakes Saturday we take in a fantastic grade one race up at the "Spa".

Saratoga Race 8 {Whitney~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A great group of eight will go to the gate in this annual grade one. There should be enough speed to carry the pace forward as the track is now listed as fast. Speed numbers are fairly close. There are four millionaires in this years contest. It should be a super exciting race to wager and watch.

#1 Tapwrit (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) appears to be primed and ready to run a supreme race with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and two sound workouts. This millionaire son of Tapit, should be tracking the pace ready to roll into the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#6 Diversify (I. Ortiz  / Mott) will pose a mighty challenge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and one bullet workout. He will be part of the speed scenario and could wire this field. A millionaire son of Bellamy Road, he leads this group with wins at nine.

#8 McCraken (B. Hernandez / Wilkes) has improved with each of the three races he has run this year. This guy should take another step forward with a couple of very good last out speed numbers, a four race progression, and two hearty peaking workouts. A son of Ghostzapper, he should be closing gallantly turning for home.
