Superfecta Sunday in Florida

We conclude out horse racing weekend with a little Turf contest for the fillies in Florida.

Gulfstream Park Race 8 {7 1/2 furlongs~Turf~2 year old~Fillies~Maiden Special Weight}
A great crop of twelve will saunter onto the green in this feature race.  There is enough speed to keep a swift pace.  There are also three First Time Starters well prepped for their first try over the grass. It should be a contentious, yet exciting contest.  Our task will be to stitch together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#10 Royal Parisian [GB] (Castellano / C. Brown) is a first time starter that should do well given her connections strong record and her superb workout tab of four works. She is the daughter of Royal Applause [GB]. This gal is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.
$2 SHOW.

#4 Lady Mayfair (Santiago / Morales) should challenge with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and one solid workout. She should be tracking the pace closely ready to spring into the stretch.

#12 Sacred Luna (Lezcano / Clement) is another first time starter seeking to run well with four excellent workouts in the last thirty days. Her connections are strong in all the important categories (2 yo, Turf, and MSW) so she has to be considered.

Gulfstream Park Race 8 {Tropical Park Derby~1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year old~Stakes}
A very good crop of twelve three year-olds will gallop over the grass in this featured stakes race. It appears half the field is made up of speed which should make for a scintillating pace. The speed figs are comparable which adds to the intrigue. Additionally, all but three will be firing fresh after brief layoffs. It should one of the better races of the day.

#9 Smooth Daddy (Castellano / Albertrani) could wire this field it he can hold off the other speedsters in this race. He holds the highest last out speed number at a longer route and has put in three dynamic workouts. This son of Scat Daddy loves the Turf, especially the Gulfstream green posting the second highest speed number over it.
$1 WIN  /  $2 SHOW.

#8 Daddy's Kid (Dunkelberger / Nagle) will pose a challenge with a couple of very good last out races coupled with two superb workouts. Another progeny of Scat Daddy look for him to be closing swiftly in the stretch. He has posted three victories at the distance from four starts.

Tropical Derby for a New Year

Happy New Year!!  A wonderful start to a New Year as we look at the Tropical Derby at Calder Race Course.  Happy Birthday to all the Thoroughbreds.

Calder Race 10 {Tropical Derby~G3~1 1/8 mile~Turf~3 year olds~Stakes}
This will be a thrilling race with a number in her that have the ability to make it to the winners circle.  It seems as though Lost Aptitude (Court / Romans) is the one to beat.  With the best speed numbers across the board and a faulous race progression, he will pounce in the straight away.  Gator Tiger (Cruz / Catanese) looks strong on the surface and at Calder.  He will be rolling late.  Some quality works coupled with a nice last out speed number, he is well prepared for this space.  Our Champion (Coa / Braddy) shows a nice last out speed number and some great workouts. He too will be rolling late.  Becky's Kitten (Trujillo / Ward) will be closing strongly in the hopes of hitting the wire first.  Some solid workouts and a decent last out speed number for this group of three year olds show is well prepared for this race by top trainer, Wesley Ward.  Cat Park (Leparoux / Motion) will also be in the mix here with the second best overall speed number on the turf. Let's play Calder Race Course.
