Happy Haskell Day

A beautiful day along the Jersey shore where the big race of the day will be run.

Monmouth Park Race 12 {Haskell Invitational~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A short field of seven hard charging lads will compete in one of the best races of the summer. There is enough speed to maintain and honest pace. Speed numbers are fairly close with a few in here still showing improvement. Our task is to stitch together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket. It should be a very exciting race.

#6 Good Magic (J. Ortiz / C. Brown) is the class of the field and will undoubtedly be the deserved favorite. He battled eventual Triple Crown winner, Justify, in Kentucky and Maryland before taking some well needed rest. This son of Curlin is fresh to post his best in this race. He holds the highest last out speed number and has put in four high octane workouts.

#4 Core Beliefs (Prat / Eurton) is coming into his own and will no doubt pose the biggest threat to the favorite. He holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and three robust workouts. A son of Quality Road, he is 100% in the money from six career starts.

#1 Lone Sailor (Bravo / Amoss) will be charging late for a piece of the purse pie. He shares the second highest last out speed number, is working a three race progression, and has put in two studly workouts. This son of Majestic Warrior, has this particular distance in his wheel-house.

#7 Golden Brown (Rendon / McBurney) is poised to run an outstanding race with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a four race progression, and two stout workouts. He is experienced over the Monmouth track and shares the second best career in the money record at 85%. A son of Offlee Wild, he is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

Superfecta Sunday at Saratoga

On this Superfecta Sunday, we take in a solid Turf race in upstate New York.

Saratoga Race 8 {1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Allowance}

A good quality group of eight will take to the Saratoga grass in this allowance feature. There is sufficient speed to produce an honest pace. Speed numbers are fairly close, thus a competitive event should ensue. Nearly half the field has galloped over the Saratoga green. Our task is to cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#10 Jaunt (J. Lezcano / McGaughey) could surprise with the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and three sound workouts. She loves the green particularly at this distance. A daughter of Harlans Holiday, she should track and strike. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#3 Guerriere [IRE] (Castellano / C. Brown) should show vast improvement in her second North American start. She holds a couple of good last out speed numbers and has put in four superb peaking workouts. A daughter of Invincible Spirit [IRE]. she is 81% in the money over eleven career starts.

#5 Dancing Breeze [IRE] (I. Ortiz / Motion) looks ready for battle holding the third highest last out speed number and one bullet workout. This gal holds the highest speed number over the surface. A daughter of New Approach [IRE], she should be part of the tracking crew.

#6 Lion in Wait (L. Saez / B. Cox) should be in the hunt having earned the second highest last out speed number at a longer route, working a five race progression, and putting in three sturdy workouts. A daughter of American Lion, she should be forwardly placed and get first jump on the leader.

Turf Near the Surf for Stakes Saturday

On this Stakes Saturday we enjoy a sweet Turf mile on the green at beautiful Del Mar.

Del Mar Race 8 {San Clemente~G2~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old~fillies~Graded Stakes}

A talented group of thirteen gals will hit the grass in this annual affair. There is plenty of speed to keep a strong pace going. Speed numbers for this field are exceptionally close making it one heck of a competitive event. Only one has ever raced over the Del Mar green.
It should be one of the more exciting races of the day.

#2 Ms. Bad Behaviour [ONT] (Desormeaux / Baltas) might have the edge with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route and four superb peaking workouts. She should be forwardly placed ready to strike. A daughter of Blame, she has hit the board in all of her Turf starts.

#9 West Palm Beach [IRE] (Prat / Callaghan) will challenge with a couple of good last out speed numbers and three hearty workouts. This gal can be expected to track the pace and roll quickly into the stretch. A daughter of Scat Daddy, she appears to relish the green.

#1 Rockin Ready (Talamo / D'Amato) should contend with the fourth highest last out speed number and two sound workouts. She holds the highest speed number at this distance. A daughter of More Than Ready, she is 100% in the money from five career starts. This gal will be tracking and closing gracefully through the stretch.

#10 War Heroine (T. Baze / Miller) should be in the hunt right from the start as she should be showing speed. This gal holds the highest last out speed number in a downhill Turf race at Santa Anita. A daughter of Lonhro [AUS], she should enjoy the stretch out. Her workout tab of four robust workouts indicate she is primed to run a good race.

Superfecta Sunday Deep in the Heart of Texas

Another summer Superfecta Sunday rolls in. We take a look at a fantastic race down in Texas.

Lone Star Park Race 10 {Texas Thoroughbred Futurity Stakes~5 Furlongs~2 year-old~TX~Stakes}

Two scratches leave us with a field of ten quality youngsters. There is plenty of speed for this sprint. Speed numbers for these colts and geldings are all over the map. All except two will be making their second career start. Our task is to stitch together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket. It should be a fascinating race.

#6 Stupify (Ir. Diego / Asmussen) looks for the lead and not look back. He holds the second highest last out speed number and three superb peaking workouts. A son of Twirling Candy, he will be going for his second straight win. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#4 BB Dude (Santana / Asmussen) will challenge his barn mate with the highest last out speed number and three terrific peaking wokouts. This lad should be forwardly placed seeking to strike heading into the stretch. A son of Shakin It Up, he comes in from Churchill Downs.

#7 Wakefield (Eramia / Broberg) should also challenge with the third highest last out speed number and three hearty peaking workouts. This guy will race close to pace and sprout in the stretch. A son of Munnings, he is also seeking his second career win.

#11 Moro Charlie (Wade / Calhoun) should be in the thick of things sharing the fourth highest last out speed number and holding three strong peaking workouts. He should track the pace and could benefit greatly if it boils over. A son of Moro Tap, he has already hit the board at Lone Star.

Stakes Saturday Tonight in Indiana

With Saratoga and Del Mar looming on the horizon, we take in another fine Derby race in Indiana.

Indiana Grand Race 9 {Indiana Derby~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A solid field of nine will take to the gate in this annual graded route. There is plentiful speed to keep the pace humming. Speed numbers are very close which should create a competitive event. Only one in here has ever raced over the Indiana dirt which makes it any horses race. It should be a high quality event under the lights.

#7 Title Ready (Santana / Asmussen) might have the edge sharing the second highest last out speed number at a slightly longer route, working a three race progression, and putting in two strong workouts. This son of More Than Ready should track the pace closely and strike in going into the stretch.

#4 Dark Vader (Nakatani / Eurton) comes in from California to challenge with the third highest last out speed number and three wicked good workouts. No slouch at this distance he holds the second highest speed number at it. A son of Tale of Ekati, he could be forwardly placed positioned to get first jump on the leaders.

#1 Trigger Warning (Rosendo / Rone) looks ready to tackle this distance and hit the board on his third attempt. He shares the second highest last out speed number at a slightly longer route, is working a five race progression, and has put in one quality workout. A son of Candy Ride [ARG], he should battle near the front end as they turn for home.

#8 King Zachary (Albarado / Romans) should go off as the deserved favorite with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two superb workouts. This guy leads the field with an 83% in the money record from six starts. A son of Curlin, he should be tracking the field closely ready to spring into the stretch.

Superfecta Sunday in New York

Back to beautiful Belmont where the grass in green. On this Superfecta Sunday we take a look at another long one on the grass.

Belmont Park Race 7 {The River Memories~1 1/2 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Fillies and Mares~Stakes}

A good group of eight will hit the grass in this stakes event. It comes up a little light on speed. A Euro quickening might be in store as the gals round the turn heading home. Speed numbers are relatively close which should make for a competitive race. Our task is to link together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#1 Summersault (J. Velazquez / Hennig) appears the one to beat with the second highest last out speed number and three superb peaking workouts. This gal has gone this distance well running in the money twice in four tries. A daughter of Rock Hard Ten, she should be part of the quickening crew.

#5 Estrecada [ARG] (Prat / Diodoro) should also be one of the favorites with the highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and two hearty workouts. She is the only other one in the race to have gone this distance achieving a 66% in the money record from six starts at it. A daughter of Offlee Wild, she should be running close to the pace.

#6 Silver Step [FR] (M. Franco / Clement) will be making her third North American start. She has put together two decent last out performances and can be expected to improve. This gal already has four wins to her credit while running overseas. A daughter of Silver Frost [IRE], she should track and strike in the stretch. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#2 Homeland Security (I. Ortiz / C. Brown) should contend with a couple of good last out speed numbers and four robust workouts. She can be expected to improve in her sixth career start. A daughter of Smart Strike, this gal is another that will should track the pace and quicken heading into the stretch.

Stakes Saturday Long on the Turf

As weekend warriors we love the tremendous number of stakes races across the country. Today we take in a race that should be part of a Triple Crown for the Turf, The Belmont Derby.

Belmont Park Race 10 {Belmont Derby~G1~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A smashing group of nine will hit the Turf in this annual event. There is sufficient speed to maintain an honest pace. Speed figs are fairly close. There are two Euros that have come in for this highly competitive event. It should be a great race.

#3 Analyze It (J. Ortiz / C. Brown) looks like the horse to beat. He shares the second highest last out speed number and has put in three superb workouts. This guy is 100% in the money from four career starts. A son of Point of Entry, he should stay this distance and could wire the field.

#4 Hunting Horn [IRE] (Moore / A. O'Brien) should challenge as he makes his first North American start. He is 100% in the money at this distance having covered three times. This lad holds the highest last out speed number and is working a seven race progression. A son of Camelot [GB], he should be driving close to the pace.

#9 My Boy Jack (Desormeaux / Desormeaux) is getting back to what could be his preferred surface after having last been seen taking fifth in the Kentucky Derby. He holds the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four hearty peaking workouts. With a decent pace, this son of Creative Cause, should be closing gallantly.

This son of Evasive [GB] has put in a strong workout over the Belmont Turf in preparation for this race. He should be part of the tracking crew.
