Superfecta Sunday at Golden Gate

We conclude our horse racing weekend with a stab at 10 CENT Superfecta Box at glorious Golden Gate Fields.  It has been a relatively warm January here in Chicago, but a cold one for our handicapping.  February looms and with luck will be fantastic.

Golden Gate Race 8 {6 furlongs~4 year old Up~fillies/mares~Allowance}
A superb allowance race which includes eight gals evenly divided between fillies and mares.  There will be a great deal of speed in this race which could set it up for a horse coming off the pace.  Our challenge is to cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket.

#3 Advance Ticket (Gryder / Patterson) looks exceptionally primed to take this one.  She holds the highest (tie) last out speed number, a six race progression, and two modest workouts.  She is 87% in the money at this distance and loves the Golden Gate tapeta surface.  Hanging back and swooping through to victory could be her best strategy.
$2 SHOW.

#5 Chukchi Sunrise (R. Baze / Morey) will provide a strong effort sharing the highest last out speed number and putting in two solid peaking workouts.  Her speed will serve her well and should allow her to hold on for a piece.

#6 Prima Gianna (Couton / Bellasis) could be the surprise here with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and three significant peaking workouts.  She has closed well at the distance and over the surface.

#4 So Tempted (Antongeorgi / Hess) is another that could do well in this race sharing the second highest last out speed number, holding a two race progression, and putting in three good workouts.  She can be expected to be forwardly placed, ready to strike in the stretch.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

#3 Advance Ticket  +  #5 Chukchi Sunrise  +  #6 Prima Gianna  +  #4 So Tempted.

Superfecta Sunday at Santa Anita Take Two

To close out another wonderful horse racing weekend we will attempt another 10 CENT Superfecta Box at beautiful Santa Anita.

Santa Anita Race 4 {Santa Ynez~G2~6 1/2 furlongs~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
An equally matched field of six will make their start in this annual event.  Trying to pick the four that will make up our 10 CENT Superfecta box will be a challenge.  There is much to like about all of these gals.

#1 Made to Love Her (Bejarano / Kasparoff) might be able to pick up the pieces if a speed dual develops.  She has to splendid last out speed numbers, a four race progression, and four strong workouts.  This filly is one of only two that have competed over the Santa Anita course.  She is deserved of our bronze horseshoe as one that could run a big race.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Candrea (M. Garcia / Baffert) may well be the class of the field coming back to sprinting after a few dissappointing route races.  She has the highest speed number over the dirt surface and has logged four sensational, peaking workouts.  Her previous run over the Santa Anita course was excellent.  Should be included.

#3 Rowdy Gal (Rosario / Sadler) will be hoofing the dirt in her third career start.  She holds the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three stellar workouts which include a couple of bullets.  A pressing attack cinches her inclusion in our Super box.

#2 Reneesgotzip (Nakatani / Miller) has the highest speed number of the group.  That race was a sprint over synthetic.  As one of two speedy types in the race, her two robust workouts provide her with the staying power in the event of a speed dual hook-up.  This race will be her second career start.  She could go off as the favorite with that potent speed number high above the rest of the field.  Has to be included on our ticket.

10 CENT Superfecta BOX ($2.40)

#1 Made to Love Her  +  #6 Candrea  +  #3 Rowdy Gal  +  #2 Reneesgotzip.

Gulfstream Park Race 10 {Fort Lauderdale~G3~1 1/16 mile~Turf~4 year old Up~Stakes}

The first three of our 10 CENT Superfecta Box are fairly straight forward taking in fundamentals such as Best Works, Highest Last Out Speed, and Highest Speed at the Distance.  The final runner of the four is a little harder.

#1 Calimonco (Smith / Sadler) has a solid workout tab. He is also coming off a route race.  #3 Victory Pete (M. Garcia / Barba) looks ready with two significant last out speed numbers, a four race progression, and three hearty, peaking workouts.  He could be a factor.  #7 Al Instante (Krigger/Cardenas) [CHI] holds the third highest speed number at the distance and has put in four superlative, peaking workouts.  We have settled on:

#5 Silver Summation (Gomez / Puype) who is a nicely improving horse with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a five race progression, and two robust workouts.  The jockey-trainer combination as well as the speediness of the race could help this guy has he makes his way through the stretch.  We toss a bronze horseshoe to him.

Santa Anita Race 3 {Sham~G3~1 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A very light, but extraodinarily talented field of six will make their start in one of the annual derby trail races.  A good amount of speed may make way for one coming off the pace.
