Stakes Saturday in Wonderful Pennsylvnia

Hitting the Turf in Pennsylvania on this Stakes Saturday.

Penn National Race 9 {Penn Mile~G2~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A great field of nine will hit the green in this annual contest. There is plenty of speed to maintain a rapid pace. Speed numbers are very close creating a highly competitive event. There are four Triple Crown nominees among the group. Top notch trainers and jockeys will compete for the stacks. It should be a superb race on a beautiful day at Penn National.

#7 Big Score (Castellano / Yakteen) ships in to take on this talented crew. he shows the highest (tie) last out speed number, a six race progression, and two fine workouts. He loves the Turf and the distance. A son of Mr. Big, he should take up a tracking position and slice through the stretch.
$2 WIN  / $3 SHOW.

#4 Cistron (P. Lopez / Sadler) ships in from Santa Anita seeking capture this prestigious race. He shares the highest last out speed number, holds a two race progression, and has put in three dynamic workouts. Another that relishes the turf and the distance, he should be part of the front running group. A son of The Factor, he is 87% in the money from eight starts.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Frostmourne (I. Ortiz / Clement) should challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and four diligent workouts over the Turf. He should track the pace closely ready to strike in the stretch. A son of Speightstown, he is in top form with a 75% in the money record from four starts.

#3 Time to Travel (Prado / Matz) should be a factor in this race as he makes the surface switch from dirt to Turf. He shares the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two solid peaking workouts. A son of Hard Spun, he should enjoy the Turf surface while being forwardly placed.

#6 Holiday Stone (L. Saez / Weaver) should be in the hunt with a tremendous effort two starts back at Keeneland. He has a couple of good last out speed numbers and one hearty workout. This son of Harlan's Holiday, has the tactical speed to stay the course.

Stakes Saturday Sweet Home Arlington

Heading into the unofficial start of summer onto the Arlington International Turf.

Arlington International Race 8 {Arlington Classic~G3~1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A great crop of six talented horses will hit the yielding green in this prelude to the Secretariat Stakes on Million Day. There are four Triple Crown nominees among this group. Speed numbers are barely discernable as any of these have the chance to pull off the victory. There is some pace and both of those lads should be in the thick of it. It should be a great TURF race.

#7 Parlor (Castanon / Kenneally) might have the advantage with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two strong workouts. This son of Lonhro [AUS] should take up a tracking position and strike in the stretch.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#6 Fast and Accurate (Hill / Maker) should challenge with a solid win over a Turf surface. he exits KD 143 and appears to prefer either the synthetic or Turf. Dropping in from that longer route of a mile and quarter, he has prepped with two excellent peaking workouts. This son of Hansen could show speed from the opening of the gates.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Cowboy Culture (Bridgmohan / Cox) will contend with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two stout workouts. He should be part of the tracking pack as they make their way around the Arlington course. A son of Quality Road, he has posted all three of his career wins over the Turf.

#9 Giant Payday (C. Landeros / Wilkes) should be in the mix from the outset. This guy holds a couple of very good last out speed numbers, a four race progression, and three stellar workouts. He has acquitted himself well over the slog. A son of Giant's Causeway, he loves the Turf.

Last Superfecta Sunday (5/21) Results
Santa Anita Park R9.  Fran's Valentine Stakes.  With an eventual DQ, we only captured two of the four required to cash our 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. Superfecta went 7-2-5-3.
Our Bronze Horseshoe runner, Cheekaboo, ended up finishing 5th due to the disqualification of the #1 horse, Pacific Heat.
Bankroll gets chewed up settling at $2.25. We will supplement with a Hamilton for todays racing.

Superfecta Sunday in Sunny So Cal

Superfecta Sunday falls upon us quick. Today we take in a fantastic classic Turf contest at that great race place.

Santa Anita Park R8 {Charles Whittingham~G2~1 1/4 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A great group of ten will take to the green in this classic graded stakes race. It does come up light on speed, gut it should be an honest one. Speed figs are relatively close for this classy group. It should be one of the most exciting races on this Superfecta Sunday. Our task is to stitch together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

It should be noted that our Bronze Horseshoe wager is bumped up as it is one of our weekly rolling show parlays. Our selection has hit the board for four weeks in a row. Let's grab another, shall we?

#6 Royal Albert Hall [GB] (Bejarano / O'Neill) appears to be in great form and may get his way with these lads. He holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route, a four race progression, and three robust workouts. He should track the pace ready to swing swiftly into the stretch. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$5 SHOW.

#10 Quick Cassablanca [CHI] (T. Baze / McAnally) is another in good form. He hsares the second highest last out speed number at a longer route, is working a four race progression, and has put in three strong workouts. With the proper pace he will be coming on fast in the stretch.

#1 Blingo (A. Solis / Shirreffs) should be capable of putting forth another good effort. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer route, a four race progression, and four hearty workouts. This guy is another that should track the pace ready to strike in the stretch.

#5 Bal a Bali [BRZ] (Prat / Mandella) might be the one to beat as he gets back to the classic distance he used to run in his native land. He holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three superb peaking workouts. This lad is a pure tracker and should be right in the thick of it heading into the stretch.

Stakes Saturday on the TURF

We start our Horse Racing Weekend on Stakes Saturday with a fine Turf race.

Arlington International Race 7 {Arlington Classic~G3~1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A great group of eleven will take to the Arlington Turf in this annual event. There is sufficient speed to create a healthy pace. Speed numbers are all close enough to make a very competitive race. Interestingly, there are four Triple Crown nominees making an appearance in this race. They should have an impact. It should be an exciting race.

#4 Surgical Strike (Graham / Colebrook) should be the prohibitive favorite with the highest last out speed number and a five race progression. This lad appears to be in fine form and holds the highest speed number at the distance. A son of Red Giant, he should track and close vigorously.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#1 Two Step Time (Torres / Maker) should challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a six race progression, and two robust peaking workouts. This guy holds the second highest speed number at the distance. A son of Two Step Salsa, he should also be tracking and closing gallantly in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

#12 Tequila Joe (Valdivia / Stidham) could also challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two strong workouts. He has scored two victories from four starts. This son of Stormy Atlantic is yet another that will track and close swiftly.

#8 Call the Colonel (Emigh / Cowen) looks to make another step forward as he makes the surface switch from dirt to Turf. He holds the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two sharp peaking workouts. This son of Colonel John should also track the pace, though perhaps a bit more closely, then strike in the stretch.

Furlong Friday at Arlington

On the eve of the Arlington Million, we take a look at a neat TURF sprint for maidens.

Arlington International Race 8 {5 furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~fillies/mares~Maiden Claiming}

A interesting group of nine will take to the green in the last race on today's Arlington card. Speed numbers are relatively close and there is enough speed and forwardly placed types to keep a solid pace. In total, these gals have had eighty chances to capture their maiden. Consequently, we will go with the first time starter which should have profitable odds.

#9 War Pass (Esquivel / Kirby) is the only first time starter in the race. She is well prepped with four superb peaking workouts. The Jockey / Trainer stats rank among the best in this field. She should race valiantly against this field.

#8 Seven Zip (Roman / Johns) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and one peaking workout. The progeny of City Zip are always a welcome wager in sprint contests. This lass has the second highest speed number at the distance which adds to her appeal.

#2 Nelvyn's Flyer (Homeister / DiVito) has the best stats of the group. She holds the second highest last out speed number and has put in one hearty workout. This gal holds the highest speed number at the distance with a 75% in the money record at same. But she hasn't won in eighteen starts. She will be the favorite.

#4 La Activa (Wright / Darjean) is making her seventh try in an attempt to secure her maiden. Her last two were decent and she will be dropping in class to hit the objective. She has put in two stellar workouts prepping. This gal will take up a tracking position seeking to surge into the stretch.

Superfecta Sunday at Churchill

It's Sunday already and what a horse racing Turf weekend it has been.  Today we venture to Louisville for a nice Turf event for the gals.

Churchill Downs Race 9 {1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Allowance}
An excellent field of eleven will rush down the grass in this finale of the day at Churchill.  It comes up a little light on speed.  These gals are all closely matched which should make for a quality wagering race.  Let's try to cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#3 Strike Charmer (Landeros / D. Carroll) is coming off an extended layoff, but appears sharp from her workout tab of four superb, peaking works.  She holds the second highest speed number at the distance, loves the Churchill Turf, and looks to improve from when last seen.

#4 Princess Mariah (Napravnik / Kenneally) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number which also happens to be the third highest speed number at the distance.  She has put in two hearty workouts and has posted a win on the Churchill Turf.  This gal could be forwardly placed to great advantage.

#8 Rocktique (Lanerie / Murphy) will be making her second North American start after racing in Ireland.  She holds the highest last out speed number, appears to be working a three race progression, and has put in one solid workout.  She is another that could benefit by being forwardly placed.  She is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.

#7 Personal Diary (Mena / Oliver) will contend with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two stout workouts.  She should be tracking the pace closely ready to spring into the stretch.  She is one of five that has already gone this distance.

Saturday Stakes, Classic Turf

On this Stakes Saturday we take on a competitive Turf race from the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago.

Arlington Park Race10 {Arlington Classic~G3~1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year old~Stakes}
An equally matched group of eight will venture onto the grass in this annual stakes race.  There are a couple of speedsters and one that is capable of pressing.  If they can tamp down on the pace, victory could be in their sight.  The balance of the crew like to come from off the pace. It should be a very competitive Turf battle.

#8 Afortable (Leparoux / Block) could benefit from a grueling pace.  He holds the highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and two robust workouts.  This son of Fort Prado is coming into the race fresh off thirty day rest.  He is one of two that has posted a victory over the Arlington green.
$2 WIN / $3 PLACE / $4 SHOW.

#7 Istanford (Graham / Stidham) should be part lead battle with the third highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and two hearty workouts. This daughter of Istan is another with a win over the Arlington Turf.  She has shown the ability to set the pace and clear the field in the stretch.
$2 PLACE / $3 SHOW.

#5 Ry's the Man (Geroux / Pessin) will be stretching out in distance for the first time with the second highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and two superb peaking workouts.  This son of Officer should be able to track the pace and launch into the stretch.

#4 Long On Value (Hernandez / Mott) should contend sharing the third highest last out speed number, working a two race progression, and putting in two solid workouts.  He is a son of Value Plus and has gone this distance once before.  Look for him to track the pace looking to strike going into the stretch.

#1 Solitary Ranger (Hill / Catalano) could be in the hunt as one of the pace setters.  He holds the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two hardy, peaking workouts.  This son of U.S. Ranger has the speed to wire the field.
