Stakes Saturday in Hot Oceanport, New Jersey

On this Stakes Saturday we take in one of the finest races of the summer out along the Jersey shore. As a heat wave envelopes much of the country you can hear a shout from the Jersey beach, "Keep their hides moist !" Stay hydrated and best of luck to you.

Monmouth Park Race 12 {Haskell Invitational~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A solid field of seven will go to the gate in the Jersey heat. There is a plethora of speed in this race which could produce a record time. Speed number are fairly close  with only two posting triple digits. It should be a fabulous race.

#7 Maximum Security (L. Saez / Ja. Servis) should be able to pull the victory off if he gets a good start and a clean ride. He holds the highest speed number at the distance, the second highest last out speed number, and two quality workouts. This lad will battle the other speed demons on the front end. A son of New Years Day , he has rattled off three triple digit Beyer's in a row. Definitely the one to beat.
$1 WIN.

#2 Joevia (J. lezcano / Sacco) continues to improve with every start and can let up on the throttle a little to save some for the stretch. He holds a the fourth highest last out speed number at a much longer route and four sensational workouts. He has two wins over this track. A son of Shanghai Bobby, he is 83% in the money from six starts.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.

#1 King for a Day (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) will challenge with the highest last out speed number and three superb peaking workouts. This guy also has a win over the Monmouth track. A son of Uncle Mo, he too should be part of the speed contingent. He holds an 80% in the money record from five starts.
$1 SHOW.

#5 Mucho Gusto (Talamo / Baffert) is another speed monster that will figure prominently in the race. He holds the third highest last out speed number and three excellent stamina producing workouts. A son of Mucho Macho Man, he has hit the board in all seven of his starts.

Superfecta Sunday at the "Spa"

A wonderful summer Superfecta Sunday will unfold. Today we take a look at a very nice Turf sprint up at the "Spa".

Saratoga Race 9 {Coronation Cup Stakes~5 1/2 Furlongs~3 year-old~Fillies~Stakes}

It looks like a field of seven will saunter onto the New York grass. Two entrants (bookends #1 and #9) raced only days ago. It is unlikely they will race today. This race is heavily speed loaded which creates a handicapping quandary; do we take the speed of the speed or create a ticket with a pace meltdown in mind. Today we'll opt for the latter, but do encourage our handicapping fans to back it up with a speed of the speed play. The speed numbers are very close for these still improving ladies. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket. It should be another sensational Saratoga Turf race.

#6 Eyein the Sky (Rosario / M. Casse) has the tactical speed to stay in this one from the opening gate. She can let up on the gas as the speedsters in the race do their thing. She has improved with every Turf race she has run and has put in two hearty workouts. A daughter of Sky Mesa, she holds the second highest speed number at the distance and is 66% in the money at same.She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$1 SHOW.

#2 Lyrical Lady (Santana / Asmussen) holds the second highest overall speed fig as she makes a switch from the dirt to the Turf. This gal is coming off a longer sprint and has put in two fine peaking workouts. A daughter of More Than Ready, she should love the Saratoga Turf as she stays in close contact with the leaders.

#7 Midnight Fantasy (L. Saez / Sharp) also makes a change from dirt to Turf with three good last out speed numbers and two robust workouts. This gal should be tracking the pace closely looking for an opening to slide through in the stretch. A daughter of Midnight Lute, she has already hit the board at the distance.

#5 A Bit of Both (I. Ortiz / Ja. Servis) could go off as the speedster favorite with the second highest last out speed number which scored a victory at this very distance. She has rattled off four wins in a row and stands at 100% in the money from six career starts. This daughter of Paynter  has the opportunity to wire the field.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)
