Superfecta Sunday in Southern Cali

Another good TURF race to handicap for our Superfecta Sunday.

Santa Anita Park Race 4 {Blue Norther Stakes~1 mile~TURF~2 year-old~Fillies~Stakes}

A great crop of young fillies will cruise over the Turf in this annual event. There is plentiful speed which could produce fast fractions. Speed numbers are so very close making any of these gals race. Our task is to fashion together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.
It should be an exciting race.

#6 Courteous (Talamo / Mandella) should display speed in amongst this speedy group. She hold the fourth highest last out speed number and four strong peaking workouts. She has a sound affinity for the surface, distance and course. A daughter of Midnight Lute, she is 50% in the money from four starts. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#7 Giza Goddess (Blanc / Shirreffs) is in fine form with the second highest last out speed number and three hearty workouts. A daughter of Cairo Prince, she appears to be improving with each additional race. She should be in excellent position while tracking the pace.

#1 Lady Prancelot [IRE] could go off as the favorite with the third highest speed number at the mile distance and three powerful workouts. This young lady loves the surface, distance, and course. A daughter of Sir Prancelot [IRE], she will benefit greatly from a blazing pace.

#2 Splashy Kisses (Van Dyke / O'Neill) makes the surface switch from dirt to TURF and comes down from a longer route. She has put in three stamina inducing workouts during a brief freshening. A daughter of Blame, she is another that will be tracking the pace ready to strike in the stretch.

We only captured two of the required four wagering interests to cash on our 10 CENT Superfecta effort. Superfecta went 8-3-4-2.

Stakes Saturday at "The Great Race Place"

On the last weekend of the racing year, we take a look at a fine grade one Turf battle at one of the nations premiere race tracks.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {American Oaks--G1~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Fillies~Graded Stakes}

A very solid field of eight will go to the gate in this annual affair. No speedy types wii give this race a European feel to it as they quicken going into the stretch. Speed numbers are close making it any of these girls race. The feature race on the card should be one of the best stakes races if the day.

#8 Competitionofideas (Rosario / C. Brown) appears to be in good form as she switches from dirt (last out) to Turf and three workmanlike works. She comes in from the NYRA circuit to race over the Santa Anita Turf for the first time. This gal holds an 83% in the money record from six career starts. A daughter of Speightstown, she could be forwardly placed for maximum advantage.
$2 WIN  $3 PLACE  $5 SHOW.

#2 Colonia [FR] (Bravo / Motion) looks ready to rock with the second highest last out speed number and three fantastic peaking workouts. This gal does need some pace, but with this distance she should have a lot left in the tank when they turn for home. A daughter of Champs Elysees [GB], she is 66% in the money from nine starts.

#6 Paved (Van Dyke / McCarthy) could go off as the co-favorite as she trims some distance from her last outing. She is the only filly in the race that has traveled this distance. This gal loves the surface and the Santa Anita course. A daughter of Quality Road, she has put in four superb peaking workouts.

#9 Californiagoldrush (Prat / Drysdale) could be the other co-favorite sharing the second highest last out speed number and three endurance producing workouts She is 100% in the money in four career starts all of them over the Turf. A daughter of Cape Blanco [IRE], she has won twice over the Santa Anita Turf.

South Florida Superfecta Sunday

There is nothing better then a little winter Turf as we take in a mid-level claimer in South Florida.

Gulfstream Park Race 6 {7 1/2 Furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~Claiming}

A good group of eleven will hit the grass in this competitive claiming event. There are enough forwardly placed types to set a decent pace. Speed numbers are fairly close. A couple of Euros make their first North American start. It should be a terrific Turf battle. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#6 Unlockthepotential (I. Ortiz / C. Brown) is coming off a brief layoff with the fourth highest speed number at the distance and four hearty workouts. He is a tracker with a 50% in the money record from six career starts and 75% in the money over Turf. Expect him to go off as the favorite. A son of Crown of Thorns, he comes down from New York for his first Florida foray.

#3 Maximus Trax [FR] (L. Saez / Clement) is one of the Euro imports that competes here in the States for the first time. He hold an excellent 100% in the money record from three career starts over synthetic in Great Britain. This lad should take to the Turf well. A son of Holy Roman Empire [IRE], he has put in two marvelous workouts. He should be among the crew of trackers. Our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#9 Stock Trade (J. Ortiz / Mott) should challenge coming off a route with three robust workouts. He holds the second highest last out speed number and has his win at this distance. A son of Molivatior [GB], he is another that should be tracking the pace.

#5 Exprompt [FR] (Gaffalione / Walsh) is the other Euro coming after racing over in Great Britain.  He achieved his win last out prior to an extended layoff. This newly gelded son of Choisir [AUS], gets first time Lasix, He is another expected to track the pace.

Superfecta Sunday in Oklahoma

Derby points are on the line in Oklahoma City as we enjoy our Superfecta Sunday.

Remington Park Race 11 {Remington Springboard Mile~1 mile~2 year-old~Stakes}

A great field of eleven will go to the gate chasing their Derby dreams. There is enough speed to keep a stout pace giving any of these gifted youngsters a chance for victory. Speed numbers are very close making the race a handicapping challenge. Our task is to rope together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box combination. It should be an exceptionally exciting race.

#1 Epic Dreamer (Castellano / Breen) comes in from New York well rested and ready to ramble. This lad holds the highest last out speed number and has grouped together three speedy bullet workouts. A son of Kentucky Derby winner Orb, he should run close to the pace and strike in the stretch.

#5 Long Range Toddy (Eramia / Asmussen) will be stretching out from his last where he scored the third highest speed number. He has put in four superlative peaking workouts including three bullets. This guy will be seeking his third win in a row. A son of Take Charge Indy, he should be in the forwardly placed pack. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#4 Six Shooter (Canchari / Holthus) appears to be in grand form holding the second highest (tie) and one bullet workout. This lad also shares the highest speed number at the distance. He is 100% in the money from five career starts. A son of Trappe Shot, he will be tracking the pace.

#10 Dunph (R. Gutierrez / Maker) is coming in from Kentucky out of a graded stakes race at a bit of a longer route. He holds two wins over dirt from two starts sharing the highest overall speed number. This guy has put in two excellent workouts. A son of Temple City, he should be running close to the pace.

Stakes Saturday on the Florida Dirt

On this Stakes Saturday we take a look at the feature graded stakes race on the dirt in South Florida.

Gulfstream Park Race 5 {Harlan's Holiday~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old Up}

We have a short field of six in this one. Such as it is during the winter meets. There is truly one standout in the race, Audible, and relative parity among the rest as they battle for the remaining purse pie. Among the battlers, the speed figs are fairly close giving it a really competitive feel for these lads to hit the board. In a change to our favored exotic wager we will make an effort with the Trifecta.

#1 Audible (Castellano / Pletcher) is the one to beat. This year's Florida Derby winner (3rd in the Kentucky Derby), appears to be in fine form. He won last out earning the highest speed fig among this group and has put in three superb peaking workouts. This millionaire son of Into Mischief is undefeated at the distance and over the Gulfstream Park track. We will make a token win bet on this champion.
$1 WIN.

#4 Village King [ARG] (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) is in great form and should be part of the pace scenario. This guy holds the second highest last out speed number at a longer route and one stout workout. A son of Campanologist, he comes in from the NYRA racing circuit.

#6 Sir Anthony (B. Hernandez / Mitchell) comes in from the Chicago racing circuit with three wins in a row including the Bruce D. on Arlington Million Day. He holds the third highest speed number at the distance and one solid workout. This son of Mineshaft should be closing swiftly with the right pace in front of him.

#3 Sightforsoreeyes (Jimenez / Quartarolo) comes in from the Kentucky racing circuit with the second highest speed number at the distance and two tough workouts. A son of Sightseeing, he should also be part of the pace scenario. Look for him to put his tactical speed to good use.

Up North for Superfecta Sunday

We hit the synth up North in frosty Canada for our Superfecta Sunday.

Woodbine Race 8 {Valedictory~G3~1 3/4 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A fine field of nine will hit the Tapeta in this annual contest. Lacking in any dominating speed, the race could come down to positioning as the quickening begins. Speed figs are fairly close although four have yet to run this longer distance. Our task is to select the right mix to conquer the 20 CENT Superfecta. It could be the best race of the day.

#7 Melmich (Contreras / K. Attard) looks to be the winner in this one sporting the highest speed number at this distance. He holds the second highest (4-way tie) last out speed number and two sound workouts. Proven at the distance, this millionaire son of Wilko should be tracking ready for the race to the wire.

#5 A A Azula's Arch (Moreno / K. Attard) is the lone filly in the race. She shares the second highest last out speed number and has put in two stout workouts. A daughter of Arch, distance should not be a problem. This gal loves the surface and the Woodbine track. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#4 Vintage Matters (Wilson / Dickenson) will be moving from Turf to synthetic and stretching out to this distance. He is another sharing that second highest last out speed number and has turned three high quality peaking workouts. A son of Tapit, he should be tracking and closing vigorously.

#9 Pumpkin Rumble (Da Silva / K. Attard) could go off as the favorite following two straight wins. He holds the highest last out speed number and two strong workouts. He appears to be in the best form of the bunch. A son of English Channel he is another that will track whatever pace develops and battle in the stretch.

Superfecta Sunday down at Ol' Del Mar

Another gorgeous Superfecta Sunday down in San Diego. On the other hand, snowing here in Chicago. So we look to marvelous Cali to get some Turf action.

A reduced field of nine California Turfers will hit the grass in this swell Turf feature. There is some speed to keep the pace humming. Speed numbers are very close making it a competitive race. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket.

#2 Push Through (G. Franco / Freeman) appears to be in tip-top form with the fourth highest last out speed number and one very solid workout. This lad loves the distance and the Del Mar course achieving a 100% in the money record over both. A son of Square Eddie, he should track the pace and strike in the stretch. #9 Carville (Pereira / Carava) shares the third highest speed number at the distance having achieved a 75% in the money record at it. He has put in four vigorous workouts during a brief freshening. A son of Globalize, he should be part of the pace scenario.

#5 Jet Set Rider (Prat / Baltas) looks to improve with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and two hearty workouts. He has already notched a win over the Del Mar course. A son of Tribal Rule, he should be guided into a great tracking position ready to close gallantly.

We look at a challenging maiden special weight in Kentucky on our Superfecta Sunday.

#8 Grenadier (Lanerie / Tomlinson) should be ready for a big effort as he makes his third start in the form cycle. He holds the highest overall speed number, a two race progression, and one sound workout. This lad is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#5 Tip Candy (Santana / Asmussen) comes off a freshening with one solid workout. He holds the third highest overall speed number, albeit over the Turf. He has already hit the board at the distance. This lad should be tracking the ready to strike.

Stakes Saturday "Where the Turf Meets the Surf"

Today we take a peek at a swell Stakes race out in San Diego, California.

Del Mar Race 8 {Bob Hope~G2~7 Furlongs~2 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A reduced field of five will make the start in this annual event. It is perfectly balanced group of running styles which will make it a competitive contest. All of these lads will be going on to greater races once finished here.

#6 Sparky Ville (Stevens / Bonde) is the most experienced runner of the group seeking his third career win. He holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two strong works. A son of Candy Ride [ARG], he should track the leaders and gun it in the stretch.

#3 Mucho Gusto (Talamo / Baffert) looks to be the odds on favorite with the third highest speed number in his only start and five exceptional, glorious workouts. This son of Mucho Macho Man is primed and ready to compete. He could take them all from the gate to the wire.

#4 Savagery (Bejerano / Callaghan) should be in the thick of it from opening of the gate with the second highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three endurance producing workouts. A son of Bellamy Road, he broke his maiden at Del Mar.

Suferfecta Sunday Closing the Meet at Santa Anita

A beautiful day in Southern California as Santa Anita closes out its Fall meet. We take a look at a fine graded stakes race on the green.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {Twilight Derby~G2~1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A wonderful group of nine will hit the grass in this annual event. There is enough speed to create a solid pace. Speed numbers are very close. All of these guys have good records over the sod which should make it anyone's race. Our task is to wire together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket.

#1 Have At It (Rosario / Clement) comes in from the East Coast to bag up some more cash. He holds the second highest (3-way tie) last out speed number and two hearty workouts. This son of Kitten's Joy loves the Turf and has secured two wins at the distance in as many starts. Look for him to be tracking the pace closely. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#8 River Boyne [IRE] (Prat / Mullins) should go off as the deserved favorite sharing that second highest last out speed figure and putting in four dynamite workouts. This lad is undefeated over the Santa Anita course in four starts. He loves the Turf and the distance. A son of Dandy Man [IRE], he should take up position near the leaders.

#4 Kazan [IRE] (M. Garcia / Callaghan) will challenge also with the second highest last out speed number and three fierce workouts. Another who loves the green and the distance, he should be closing swiftly into a strong pace. A son of Shanghai Bobby, this lad has hit the board in his last three starts.

#9 Platinum Warrior [IRE] (Van Dyke / Sadler) is coming down in distance in a grade one event. He holds the highest last out speed number and has put in four strong workouts in preparation for this race. Having run longer in his career, he will be dropping in distance as well. A son of World Class Turf sire, Galileo [IRE], he should close gallantly.

A Classic BC Classic

As the warm sunshine beats down on the Kentucky dirt, we will take in one of the best races of the year in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Churchill Downs Race 11 {Breeders' Cup Classic~G1~1 1/4 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Starts}

There will be no more exciting race the balance of the year than this edition of the BC Classic. There is enough speed to maintain an honest pace. speed figures for these world class horses are very close.  Of the field of fourteen there are ten millionaires. The Euros have three entrants all with a good chance to find their way to the winner's circle. A great race will unfold.

#1 Thunder Snow [IRE] (Soumillion / bin Suroor) looks well positioned to take this field with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and four strength building, peaking workouts. This lad has hit the board in five of his six starts at this distance. A son of Helmut [AUS], he should be forwardly placed ready to strike.

#7 West Coast (J. Velazquez / Baffert) will challenge with a strong set of three last out speed numbers and three dynamite peaking workouts. He has hit the board in all three of his races at this distance earning the second highest speed number of this field. A son of Flatter, he has the tactical speed to see how the paces develops and use that to his advantage.

It's Breeders' Cup Time

On this Furlong Friday, normally we take a look at a nice sprinty furlong race, but the Breeder's Cup is upon us. Today we take a peek at the future Derby stars .

Churchill Downs Race 9 {Sentinent Jet BREEDERS' CUP Juvenile~G1~1 1/16 mile~2 year-old~colts and geldings~Graded Stakes}

A fantastic crop of young lads will go to the gate in this multi-million dollar race. A good number of these boys will be future Derby stars, Kentucky or in another setting. This is the race to wager and watch.  A great number of speedy types will launch from the gate sure to give those coming from off the pace a reasonable chance to pull off a victory. Speed numbers are very close for the top tier and the balance of these youngsters should improve nicely. It will be the best race of the day.

#9 Game Winner (Rosario / Baffert) looks to crank off his fourth career win in a row. Coming to this race with the highest last out speed number and three strong workouts, he will be the deserved favorite. A son of Candy Ride [ARG], he should be cruising close to the pace and strike in the stretch.

#8 Standard Deviation (Castellano / C. Brown) will challenge coming from off the pace. His speed numbers are a little light, but making his third start of his career he should show great improvement. Superfecta Sunday at Santa Anita

We take in a nice Stakes race for our Superfecta Sunday.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {Comma to the Top~1 mile~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

A reduced field of six will go to the gate in this feature race. A short field like this is not necessarily a handicapper's best option, but we will go forward with our effort. There is enough pace to maintain a solid pace. Speed figs are relatively close which gives it a good competitive feel. Our task is to hack together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#7 Battle of Midway (Prat / Hollendorfer) is the class of the field and should meet with his favoritism's expectation. He holds the highest last out speed number and has put in four stellar workouts during a brief freshening. This guy loves the Santa Anita track hitting the board in all of his five runs on it. A millionaire son of Smart Strike, he should get the pace to come a runnin'.

#3 Roman Rosso [ARG] (Talamo / Baffert) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route and four superb stamina producing workouts. He will be making his second North American start seeking his sixth career win. A son of Roman Ruler, he should track the pace and strike in the stretch. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#1 Tatters to Riches (T. Baze / Mullins) will contend with the second highest last out speed number and three robust workouts. This guy has the tactical speed to stay close to the pace and get first jump and the others heading into the stretch. He has a win at this distance in his only effort at the mile. A son of Union Rags, he should relish the Santa Anita dirt.

#4 St. Joe Bay (Van Dyke / Sadler) should be in the mix from the opening gate. He holds the third highest speed number at the distance along with an 83% in the money record from six tries. A Downhill Superfecta Sunday

Om this Superfecta Sunday we take a look at the "lucky last" at the "Great Race Place".

Santa Anita Park Race 9 {6 1/2 Furlongs~downhill TURF~3 year-old Up~Allowance Optional Claiming}

This could be any horse's race as all have decent experience on Santa Anita's unique down hill Turf course. There is speed o plenty in this last race on the card. Speed numbers are also very close making it quite the competitive race. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. It should be a terrific race to cap off another horse racing weekend.

#3 Brandonthebartender (Talamo / Dollase) should be in very strong position should the pace boil over. He holds the third highest (3-way tie) last out speed number and four superb peaking workouts. This lad also shares the second highest speed number over the downhill course. A son of Tribal Rule, he should track and close well. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#9 Afleet Ascent (Desormeaux / Hollendorfer) has the opportunity to wire this field with the highest last out speed number at a route distance and four supreme workouts. He loves the Turf and the Santa Anita course. A son of Northern Afleet, is comes out of a strong second place effort in a stakes event.

Today we take in a nice Turf stakes race for our Superfecta Sunday.

A good field of eleven will saunter onto the grass in this featured event. There is more than enough speed to establish a pace with urgency. Speed numbers are very close making it a superbly competitive race. Our task is to sew together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. It should be a great race.

#10 Fahan Mura (Maldonado / Cerin) may go off as the favorite with her speed. She holds the highest last out speed number at a longer route and two fine workouts. Her in the money record at the mile distance is an enviable 83%. A daughter of English Channel, she is undefeated over the Santa Anita green from four starts.

#1 Way to Versailles (Prat / Miller) will challenge seeking to make it three wins in a row. She holds the fourth highest last out speed number and has put in five strong peaking workouts during a brief freshening. A daughter of Tizway, she is a speedster who will be stretching out to this mile distance.

#8 Tonahuta [IRE] (Stevens / Blacker) should make another improvement as she continues to gain her footing in North America racing. This gal has been in the money for all three of her North American starts after racing across the pond. She has put in three quality peaking workouts in preparation for her Santa Anita debut. A daughter of Sir Prancelot [IRE], she has scored a win at the distance. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

A Beautiful Fall Stakes Saturday

There are few things better than a Fall Turf race in beautiful Kentucky. Today we take a look at a grade one.

Keeneland Race 10 {Shadwell Turf Mile~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A fantastic field of fourteen will hit the green in this annual contest. There is enough speed to produce a solid pace. Speed numbers are fairly close giving this one a strong competitive feel. Three millionaires make their appearance seeking to pad their bankroll. A few could make millionaire status with a win today. Should be an incredible race.

#11 Almanaar [GB] (Castellano / C. Brown) might have the edge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route and four superb peaking workouts. This lad loves the turf and is good at the distance. A son of Dubawi [IRE], he should be tracking the pace and strike heading into the stretch.

We look in on closing day at Emerald Downs up in Auburn, Washington for our Superfecta Sunday.

On this Superfecta Sunday we turn our attention to a great Turf stakes battle for the youngsters up in O Canada.

Only one defection makes this a beautifully bred group of twelve which will hit the grass. Most in here have only raced once so there is room for improvement at anytime.
