Aqueduct Race 8 {Red Smith Handicap~G3~1 3/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

Up North for Superfecta Sunday

Canada calls for this Superfecta Sunday.

Woodbine Race 8 {Overskate~7 furlongs~3 year old Up~ONT-C~Stakes}
A splendid field of eight will start in this stakes race.  The vast majority of the field likes to be forwardly placed which should make for a solid pace.  All have reasonable comparable speed numbers and all love the Woodbine polytrack.  It should be a dandy of an effort trying to stick together a winning 20 CENT Superfecta box ticket.  But try we must.

#8 Ultimate Destiny (Da Silva / Fehr) is much the horse to beat with the second highest (tie) last out speed number at a route and two gracious workouts.  He also holds the highest speed number at the distance and the second best in the money (74%) over the Woodbine track.

#2 Phil's Dream (Stein / Buttigieg) will challenge as one of the sprinters in the field.  He holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two sensational workouts.  He has the tactical speed to stay close and swoop down into the stretch.

#3 Pender Harbour (Campbell / DePaulo) could be one to watch as he is the class of the field.  He shares the second highest last out speed number at a mile route,  a two race progression, and one diligent workout.  If jockey, Jesse Campbell, can get him to settle nicely, this guy could come rumbling through the stretch with flourish.  He is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.

Stakes Saturday in Illinois

We venture to that wonderful working men and women track, Hawthorne Race Course, for what should be one of the premiere races along the road to the Kentucky Derby.  But alas, it was left off the trail this year.  Perhaps the KD "points committee" will tweak their list of races that award points for next year.

Hawthorne Race Course Race 8 {Illinois Derby~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A fabulous field of fourteen very talented horses will venture out on the dirt for this annual graded stakes race.  We have a good deal of rain since the beginning of April, but today it will be mostly sunny and 47 degrees Farenheit.  A beautiful, crisp day for horse racing.  All but four in this field are Triple Crown nominated.  There are enough forwardly placed types in here to keep the pace flowing.  Those that like to track or close are well represented in this large field as well.  Parity best describes this fantastic field of late developing equine athletes.  Any one of them are capable of taking another step forward in their career and pull off the victory.  It should be one of the best races this Spring.

#13 Departing (Hernandez / Stall) has a slight edge with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two bullet workouts.  He should be tracking this pace comfortably and closely allowing him to drive swiftly into the stretch.  Could be the one to beat with the highest speed number, a triple digit, at this distance.
$1 WIN / $2 PLACE / $3 SHOW.

#12 Siete de Oros (Arroyo / Preciado) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a seven race progression, improving with every race run in his career, and two endurance producing, peaking workouts.  This handsome son of A.P. Warrior has the tactical speed as well as versatile style of running to see how the race develops, then launch into a strong stretch run.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.

#5 Ground Transport (Guidry / Stidham) should also contend with the second highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two peaking bullet workouts.  This athletic son of Big Brown should be ready to transverse across the Hawthorne dirt in tracking fashion.  He is one of eight in this field that has already gone this distance.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#10 Fordubai (D. Sanchez / Geier) could surprise with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a four race progression, and four robust workouts.  He fancies this Hawthorne track with two laudable runs over it.  This dark brown colt, a son of E Dubai, should be ready to take another step forward.

#8 Abraham (Castellano / Pletcher) should be in the mix with a couple of good last out speed numbers and two stout workouts.  His connections know how to win races and will have him primed for this race.  He is the only one in this field that has gone this distance twice and has acquitted himself well.  This son of Distorted Humor should show speed and figure prominently in the overall pace.

#3 Street Spice (J. Sanchez / Geier) should make another forward progression with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and two hearty workouts.  As a son of the great Street Sense watch him launch a powerful kick going into the stretch.

10 CENT Superfecta

#13 Departing / #12 Siete de Oros / #5 Ground Transport / #10 Fordubai, #8 Abraham, #3 Street Spice.

Stakes Saturday at Keeneland

The leaves are turning, there's a crispness in the air, and the horses are running.  Another beautiful Fall day in Kentucky.  It is a wonderful Stakes Saturday at Keeneland.

Keeneland Race 8 {Dixianna Breeders Futurity~G1~1 1/16 mile~2 year olds~Stakes}
Another full bodied field of fourteen will saunter to the gate.  This race appears equally divided among the forwardly placed and those coming from off the pace.  It is stacked with talented youngsters and will be a good one.

#11 Balance the Books (Leparoux / C. Brown) has a slight edge with the second highest last out speed number which happened to be at this distance.  He is working a two race progression and has put in two diligent workouts.  Should there be a rapid pace, this guy could close them down.
$1 WIN / $2 SHOW.

#5 Tizracer (Lezcano / Pletcher) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two stout workouts.  He should motor with the front group hoping to hold off any challengers.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.

#12 Dynamic Sky (Contreras / Casse) could surprise with the fourth highest (3-way tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and two strong workouts.  He is used to the polytrack surface, running his two career races up at Woodbine.  Watch him track and close.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#6 Pataky Kid (P. Lopez / Proctor) should be in the mix sharing the fourth highest last out speed number, holding a three race progression, and putting in three sound workouts.  He is another that can be expected to track and close.

10 CENT Superfecta

#11 Balance the Books, #5 Tizracer / #11, #5 / #12 Dynamic Sky, #6 Pataky Kid / #12, #6.

Keeneland Race 9 {Shadwell Turf Mile~G1~1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A strong field of twelve will go to the grass in this annual Turf contest.  Loaded with speed as well as forwardly placed types, it could make for a fascinating Turf battle.

#5 Wise Dan (Lezcano / Loprestri) is the overwhelming favorite and the one to beat.  He holds the highest last out speed number and has put in one bullet workout.  He certainly is head and shoulders above this field with the highest speed number at the distance and an enviable three wins over four races at this mile distance.  Expect him to tuck in behind the leaders and strike into the stretch.
No Wagering Value.

#7 Data Link (Solis / McGaughey) could pick up the pieces if there is a pace meltdown.  He has the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and three athletic workouts.  This colt should track the pace and close swiftly.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.

#6 Worthadd [IRE] (Contreras / Lynch) will be making his second North American start after some brilliant racing in Europe.  His last out was a decent speed number and he has put in two solid workouts.  He should be part of the army of front runners seeking to hold on in the stretch.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#11 Dominus (Leparoux / Pletcher) should be part of the mix with the second highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and two hearty workouts.  He should be forwardly placed ready to pounce.
