Looking at Louisiana Ladies on Superfecta Sunday

 We go down to NOLA for some sprint action as the Louisiana Ladies strut onto the dirt.

Fair Ground Racecourse Race 8 {6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~LA Bred~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A full field of twelve will go to the gate in this lucky last on the card.

There is a plethora of speedy types to make the pace sizzling. Speed numbers are very close. All have competed over the Fair Grounds dirt. With the morning line favorite pegged at 4-1 you can bet this is a handicapping challenge with any of these gals having the potential to come out on top. It should be a wonderful race to close out the Horse racing weekend.

#8 Country Lady (Concepcion / Desormeaux) will be seeking her third win in a row. She should be part of the pace scenario. This gal holds the second highest speed number over the dirt and one superb workout. She holds a high 90% itm performance at the distance and over the track. A daughter of Country Day, she is 65% in the money from twenty-three starts.

#6 Platinum Minit (B. Hernandez / Ducoing) comes in with the fourth highest last out speed number at a mile and two hearty workouts. She will track the pace and strike in the stretch. She loves the distance and the track. A daughter of Givemeaminit, she is 50% in the money from eight starts.

#12 Sweet Alexis (Murrill / Devereaux) is the morning-line favorite with the highest last out speed number and three strong workouts. She has the tactical speed to stay the pace. This gal enjoys the dirt, distance, and track. A daughter of Astrology, she is 66% in the money from twenty-one starts.

Furlong Friday at the Fair Grounds, ep.3

 We look at the lucky last at the Fair Grounds for Furlong Friday.

Fair Grounds Race 9 {6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~LA bred~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A good group of Louisiana bred gals will go to the gate in this last on the card event.

There are plenty speedy and forwardly placed types to carry the pace forward. Speed numbers are very close making this one competitive. All have raced over the Fair Grounds track. It should be an excellent race to cap off the day.

#5 Canada's Customs (B. Hernandez / Asmussen) should track the pace with the highest last out speed number. This gal loves the surface, distance, and track. A daughter of Custom for Carlos, she is 66% from twenty-one starts.

A Fair Grounds Stakes Saturday

 A great day of racing at the Fair Grounds will unfold as we look in on an exciting Turf race on our Stakes Saturday.

Fair Grounds Race 8 {Colonel E. R. Bradley~1 1/16 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Stakes}

A modest field of eight will run over the Turf course. Due to the continued reconditioning of the course the Turf fields are restricted to eight.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There are three on the Also eligible list and one of these, #9 Gentle Soul (R. Gutierrez / Calhoun), could have an impact on the race. The other two would have to show great improvement. There is enough speed to maintain a strong pace. Speed numbers are very close. It should be a significantly competitive race. Three have not yet ran over the Fair Grounds course. It should be an awesome race.

#2 Price Talk (Geroux / B. Cox) should be the deserved favorite with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and two strong workouts. This guy should track the pace closely. He loves the surface and the distance. A son of Kitten's Joy, he is 75% in the money from sixteen career starts.

Louisiana Champs Day on our Stakes Saturday

 Let's take a look at the lucky last on Louisiana Champions day.

Fair Grounds Race 9 {LA Champs Day-Sprint~6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Louisiana Bred~Stakes}

A reduced, but full field of twelve will go to the gate in this annual contest.

There will a smoke show of speed in this race as nearly all will be vying for the lead. Speed numbers are fairly close making it competitive. All have raced over the Fair Grounds track. It should be a tremendous race to cap off a day of quality racing.

#6 Win Ya Win (Beschizza / Camejo) comes off a modest layoff fresh and ready. This lad loves the surface, distance and track. He holds the highest speed number at the distance and has produced four strong workouts coming into the race. A son of Star Guitar, he should track the pace and explode into the stretch. He holds a 82% in the money record.

#9 Unified Report (B. Hernandez / D. Stewart) should compete well amongst this group with a couple of wins over the track from four starts. His speed numbers should put him in the race. Fair Grounds is Open in NOLA

 Fair Grounds has opened, and we look forward to a long and hopefully, profitable meet. On this Stakes Saturday we look in on a smashing sprint race for the Louisiana bred lads.

Fair Grounds Race 8 {Monte Man Stakes~6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~LA~Stakes}

A good group of ten will go to the gate in this Louisiana stakes race. 

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is a ferocious amount of speed in this one. Speed figs are fairly close making this race competitive. Only three have not yet raced over the Fair Grounds track. All are well prepped for the start of the Fair Grounds season. It should be an exciting race.

#2 Bertie's Galaxy (Loveberry / Faucheaux) looks read to blast from the gate and not look back. He holds the third highest last out speed number and two solid peaking workouts. A son of Greely's Galaxy, he is 80% in the money from twenty-five career starts.

Stakes Saturday in South Florida

 Off we go (virtually of course) to fabulous South Florida to wager and watch on an exciting graded stakes Turf race.

Gulfstream Park Race 10 {Ft. Lauderdale~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A solid field of ten will venture onto the green in this annual graded stakes race.

Past Performances used:  DRF Formulator.

There is plenty of speedsters and forwardly placed types to maintain a heated pace. Speed numbers are fairly close with a number in here hitting the triple digit ranks. All appear to be well prepped and well rested to step into Gulfstream's championship season. It should be a stellar race.

#10 Halladay (L. Saez / Pletcher) could have the edge over this group with the second highest last out speed number and two hearty workouts. This guy is undefeated over the Gulfstream course in three races. Look for him to be part of the speedy crew upfront. A son of War Front, he is 80% in the money from fifteen career starts.

#9 Factor This (J. Ortiz / B. Cox) will challenge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed numbers and two strong workouts. He holds the highest speed number of the field at this distance. Fair Grounds R9.  Pan Zareta Stakes.  Our first pick, Play On, finished 4th.  Our second pick, Into Mystic, finished 2nd for place money of $1.90 and show money of $3.20.  Our third pick, A Bit of Both, finished 5th.  Our fourth pick, Sterling Miss, finished 9th.

We failed in our Exacta Wheel effort. Superfecta went 2-11-1-4.

Bankroll gets flogged and drops to $11.12. We will supplement with a Hamilton and a Lincoln for today's race.

Stakes Saturday in Arkansas

As we move along a desolate sports landscape, please stay in good health and be safe above all else.

On this Stakes Saturday we take a look in on another Kentucky Derby prep race down Arkansas way.

Oaklawn Park Race 10 {Rebel~G2~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A solid group of eight will go to the gate in this annual Derby prep race. There is plenty of speed to create a top-line speed fest. Speed numbers are fairly close with a few still improving. Three in here are competing for their next win after succeeding in their previous races. It should be an awesome race.

#3 Basin (Casellano / Asmussen) is coming off an extended layoff, but appears ready to take another step forward. Among these, he holds the fourth highest last out speed number and five high octane workouts. This guy is 100% in the money from three career starts. A son of Liam's Map he can be expected to track the pace closely and strike in the stretch.

#1 Nadal (Rosario / Baffert) comes in from California to stretch out to this distance and grab some derby points. He holds the second highest last out speed number and three powerful workouts. This lad is undefeated in two starts. A son of Blame, he should be part of the pace scenario.

#2 Excession (T. Baze / Asmussen) comes up from NOLA to battle these hombres. He has fired three successive mid-range speed numbers including his last at a longer route. #6 Three Technique (L. Saez / J. Englehart) has already hit the board in one start over the Oaklawn oval. He holds the third highest last out speed number and four strong workouts.
