LA Derby Day

 On this Stakes Saturday we look in on the action in NOLA. It's Louisiana Derby day.

Fair Grounds Race 12 {Louisiana Derby~G2~1 3/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

An extremely competitive field of twelve will go to the gate for the high end of the Kentucky Derby points scale.

This appears to be a pace deprived race. Speed numbers are very close. All of these lads will be stretching out to this distance. Only three have not raced over the Fair Grounds track. In a pace less race expect the calvary charge heading into the stretch. It should be one of the most excitng races on ths Stakes Saturday.

#5 Disarm (Rosario / Asmussen) should track the pace closely giving him first strike capability heading into the stretch. He invades from Oaklawn with a robust workout tab of four solid peaking workouts. A son of Gun Runner, he is 100% in the money from three career starts.

Let's play the Whitmore on this Stakes Saturday

While all eyes are on the Madness that is the NCAA tournament, we look in on a terrific sprint stakes down in Arkansas on this Stakes Saturday.

Superfecta Sunday on the Turf at Santa Anita

 We look in on a superb graded stakes race over the Turf on this Superfecta Sunday.

Santa Anita Park Race 7 {Santa Ana Stakes~G3~1 1/4 mile~downhill TURF~4 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A great group of nine talented ladies will hit the green in this annual event.

This should be a stellar race on the day. There is enough speed to maintain an honest pace, though there will be a quickening heading into the stretch. Speed numbers are fairly close. Only three in the field have gone this distance and only four have experienced downhill action. This race will be the final race for the final table in this year's National Handicapping Championship at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas, Nevada. Good luck to those skilled players who make it to the final table.

#3 Australia Mia (Dettori / McCarthy) should go off as the deserved favorite. She comes off a longer Turf route where she earned the third highest last out speed number. Two excellent workouts add to her luster. She has hit the board three of four times, albeit in Chile. This gal should be forwardly placed. She loves the turf, distance and course. A Tampa Stakes Saturday

Best of luck to all the great handicappers in the National Handicapping Championship in the magnificent City of Las Vegas, Nevada.

 Off we go to another KD 149 prep race in the wonderful City of Tampa, Florida.

Tampa Bay Downs Race 11 {Tampa Bay Derby~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A talented field of twelve will go to the gate in search of Kentucky Derby points in this annual contest.

There is plenty of speed in this race to set super fast fractions. All but three are nominated to the Triple Crown. Speed figs are fairly close making it competitive. Four will be stretching out to this distance while the rest have covered this distance. All seek to improve. Eight are coming out of the Sam F. Davis over this very track. It should be a fantastic race.

#4 Groveland (Centeno / Harty) should track the pace closely and swing into the stretch in great stride. He holds the highest speed number at this distance along with three superb peaking workouts over the Tampa Bay track. This son of Street Sense, is 100% in the money from five career starts.

Superfecta Sunday downhill Turf action

 On this Superfecta Sunday we look in on a downhill Turf stakes race amidst the San Gabriel mountains.

Santa Anita Park Race 7 {Baffle Stakes~6 1/2 Furlongs~downhill Turf~3 year-old~Stakes}

An intriguing field of ten, up and coming lads, will run downhill on the green in this stakes race.

A number of lightly raced horses including a first-time starter will swagger to the gate. Four Triple Crown Nominees are entered taking an unusual path to those high profile races.  A great day of racing is under way on this Stakes Saturday. There is four KD 149 preps and we will look in on the one in wonderful South Florida.

Gulfstream Park Race 14 {Fountain of Youth~G2~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

With one scratch, nine will go to the gate in this annual Kentucky Derby prep.

The road to the Derby heats up starting this weekend as these lads compete for points. There is enough speed to create an honest pace giving any of these the opportunity to secure the victory. Speed figs are very close. Only one millionaire is in the field. This should be a fantastic race.
