Off we go on a tremendous Superfecta Sunday to the sunny Florida dirt.

Gulfstream Park Race 11 {1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A talented group of eight will go to the gate in this late afternoon feature. There are six Triple Crown nominees among the crew. Plenty of speed is present to maintain an honest pace. The speed figs are all very close which should make a highly competitive event. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#6 Kelly Tough (P. Lopez / Plesa) might have the edge with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two powerful peaking workouts. This lad will be making his third career start after landing in the money in his two previous. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

Stakes Saturday in California

A great Stakes Saturday with numerous Stakes races across the country. Today we peer into sunny Southern California for a superb downhill Turf contest.

Santa Anita Park {Sensational Star~6 1/2 furlongs~downhill TURF~4 year-old Up~CA~Stakes}

A sharp group of eleven will cruise down the hill in this excellent stakes race. There is plenty of speed to guarantee a fast pace. Speed numbers are very close making for an ultra competitive event. It should be a spectacular race.

#7 Forest Chatter (Smith / Mandella) appears to be ready to tackle this field with a couple of good last out speed numbers, and five supreme peaking workouts. He holds the highest speed figure at this distance winning all five of his races at same. This son of Dixie Chatter should be tracking the pace very closely.

#10 Boozer (Stevens / Glatt) should challenge with the second highest last out speed number at a route, a three race progression, and two hearty workouts. Late Start to our Horse Racing Weekend

Furlong Friday opens our horse racing weekend as we take a look at a downhill Turf race in Arcadia, California.

Santa Anita Race 7 {6 1/2 furlongs~downhill TURF~4 year-old Up~Allowance}

A solid field of ten will launch down the Santa Anita hillside Turf course. There is a smattering of speed to keep things interesting. Speed numbers are all fairly close giving a certain competitiveness to the race. It should be on of the more exciting races of the day.

#1 Hawkedon (Bejarano /Puype) may have an edge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two robust workouts. This guy also has an impressive 62% in the money record coming down the hill. He should track the pace and strike going into the stretch.

#4 Zuri Chop [FR] (Desormeaux / Sadler) should provide a mighty challenge with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and four solid peaking workouts. This lad should be forwardly placed seeking to get first jump on the leaders heading into the stretch.

#10 Hot Market (Prat / Mathias) is coming off an extended layoff and has worked very well landing four superb peaking workouts. Prior to his vacation, he was working a six race progression and was in solid form. This lad is 100% in the money from six career starts.

Superfecta Sunday on the Dirt

On this Superfecta Sunday we take in a fine dirt race up at the "Big A".

Aqueduct Race 8 {The Haynesfield Stakes~1 1/16 miles~4 year-old Up~NY~Stakes}

A reduced field of seven will now go to the gate after two early morning scratches. This is the inaugural running of this event for New York breds. There is enough speed to keep a fast pace. Speed numbers are fairly close insuring strong competition. Our task is to sew together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#8 Royal Posse (Alvarado / R. Rodriguez) will be the favorite and deservedly so. He holds the highest last out speed number, an eight race progression, and two robust workouts. He has performed significantly better in his last three races than any of the other horses in this race. Watch for him to track the pace very closely and sprout into the stretch.

#9 Good Luck Gus (I. Ortiz / R. Rodriguez) should challenge with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a seven race progression, and four superb workouts. He loves the distance and the Aqueduct inner dirt course. This lad will be tracking the pace ready to strike.

On to Furlong Friday to take in a nice sprint in lovely Arcadia, California.

A very nice field of nine will take to the dirt in this sprint feature. There is decent speed to insure an honest pace. Speed figures are relatively close. Most in this one are lightly raced and still are in an improving mode. It should be a very good race.

Horse Racing Weekend Begins at Gulfstream

We missed our Superfecta Sunday this past week due to a technical glitch. For this coming Sunday, in the immortal words of the late great "Mr. Cub", Ernie Banks, "Let's play two!"

Today we hit snazzy Southern Florida for a classic Turf stakes race for the gals.

A wonderful field of seven will engage in battle over the Turf. There is NO speed. It likely to be contested much like a Euro race in which a tremendous quickening will occur going into the stretch run. Speed numbers are fairly close, though only three in the field have gone this long distance. It should be a good race.

#5 Maximova (Bravo / Clement) should be the favorite and deservedly so. She has already scored in two of her four runs at this distance. This gal holds the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and four robust workouts. She could be in the first flight heading for home.

Furlong Friday at Fair Grounds

On this Furlong Friday we take a look at a real nice Maiden race down in New Orleans.

Fair Grounds Race Course Race 5 {6 furlongs~3 year-old~fillies~LA~Maiden Special Weight}

A great group of ten young Louisiana ladies will go to the gate seeking their first win. It appears is lacking, though there are three first time starters that could be sent to ratchet the pace up. Those that have run have speed numbers that are fairly close with potential improvement on the horizon. It should be a challenging race.

#6 Ide Biduadeau (Geroux / Stewart) might have the edge coming out of a more competitive event. She holds the third highest last out speed number and has put in three robust workouts. This gal should be firing fresh off an extended layoff, last seen at Saratoga.

#3 Carlita Shake (Torres / Ducoing) should challenge with the highest last out speed number at this distance and one sound workout. She should be tracking the pace ready to strike in the stretch.

#9 Et's Doll (Graham / Amoss) should contend with the second highest last out speed number and two hearty workouts. With the right pace she should close well into it. She will be stretching out another half furlong from her last.

#4 Day O (Valenzuela / Hutchinson) could be in the mix with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and a three race progression. She could potentially close swiftly into a contested pace.

Horse Racing Weekend begins in Southern Cal

We start off an exciting weekend of horse racing in the sunny state of California.

Santa Anita Park Race 7 {1 mile~3 year-old~Optional Claiming}

A talented group of ten will go to the gate in this mile prep race. There is plentiful speed making for a swift pace. Speed numbers are very close making for a competitive event. There are six Triple Crown nominees among the field. It should be a great race.

#4 Mineyerownmalone (Gonzalez / Periban) is the only one in the field that has notched a victory at this distance. He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and four sensational peaking workouts. This lad could be tracking the pace closely.

#8 Danzing Candy (Smith / Sise) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four superb peaking works. This guy will be stretching out to this distance after two sprints under his saddle. He is another that could be tracking the pace closely.

#3 French Getaway (Desormeaux / Hess) should contend sharing the third highest last out speed number in a longer route, holding a three race progression, and putting in four strong workouts. With a hot pace this guy will be closing gallantly.

#5 Shed the Rules (T. Baze / Mullins) should take another hoof forward with the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three stout workouts. This guy should be forwardly placed coming off two wins from his two career starts.

Our Bronze Horseshoe selection, Cartoon, was disqualified from 2nd to 7th for impeding other runners.
