Superfecta Sunday Turf on Dueling Grounds

Nothing better than a little Kentucky Turf on a Superfecta Sunday.

Kentucky Downs Race 9 {Dueling Grounds Derby~1 5/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Stakes}

An excellent field of ten will run on the adulating course in this annual event. The race comes up deficient on speed. However, there are a number in here that like to track the pace closely. It looks like it will be run like a Euro race with a significant quickening entering into the stretch. Speed numbers are very close which could make it any one of these lads race to win. Our task is to thread together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. It should be a spectacularly exciting race.

#6 Channel Island (Gaffalione / Maker) might have the edge having run a slightly longer race in his last and earning the second highest last out speed number. He added to that effort three superb peaking workouts. This guy is 60% in the money from five career starts. A son of English Channel, he should be tracking and strike in the stretch.

#9 Journeyman (Graham / Harty) is coming down from Canada where he had a hard beat (DQ'd) in the Canadian Derby. This guy holds the fourth highest last out speed number and two robust workouts. He has improved in each of his last three races. A 100% in the money record from seven career starts adds to his luster. A son of Animal Kingdom, he should be part of the pack of runners close to the pace. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#5 Limonite (Leparoux / Asmussen) looks ready to take another step forward with the third highest last out speed number and four supreme peaking workouts. This guy is 55% in the money from nine career starts. A closer, he will need some pace to run at. This son of Lemon Drop Kid is one of a handful in here that have earned multiple wins.

#1 Social Paranoia (J. Ortiz / Pletcher) should go off as the favorite with the highest last out speed number and two solid workouts. This lad will be stepping up in distance. He holds a superior 90% in the money record from ten career starts. A son of Street Boss, expect him to be tracking ready to strike.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

Horse Racing Weekend begins on the Turf

That fine rolling Turf course in Franklin, Kentucky is where we start our horse racing weekend.

Kentucky Downs Race 9 {Ramsey Farm Stakes~1 5/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Stakes}

A talented group of nine will hit the Turf in this feature race. It comes up a little short on speed which should make for a nice quickening as it nears the end. Speed figures on the other hand are fairly close. It should be a great race to kick off our Horse Racing Weekend.

#11 La Piba (Geroux / B. Cox) looks ready for the stretch out with the second highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three superb workouts. This gal should do fine in her first run over the unique Kentucky Downs course.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Queen Blossom [IRE] (Lynch / Motion) should move forward as she tackles this course. She holds a couple of very good last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and three sturdy workouts. This gal should be part of the tracking crew.
$2 SHOW.

#4 Kitten's Roar (J. Ortiz / Maker) is much the horse to beat with the highest last out speed number in a Grade One affair, a four race progression, and three stout workouts. This gal is proven over this course by virtue of a win in her only effort over it. She should be reasonably close to the pace waiting to strike in the stretch.

#2 Tricky Escape (DeCarlo / Ashby) looks ready to give it her best with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one good workout. She is an impressive 81% in the money from eleven career starts. Another tracker looking for position.

Superfecta Sunday on TURF

Updated at 16:14 Central Time

As Hurricane Irma pounds Florida our thoughts and prayers are with the people and our Equine Hero's living down there.

We look in on a terrific Turf contest on this Superfecta Sunday.

Kentucky Downs Race 9 {Dueling Grounds Derby~1 5/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Stakes}

A great group of eight will take to the grass in this annual affair. It comes up a little light on speed giving the forwardly placed runners a bit of a chance. Only one in here has gone beyond this distance and the rest will be stretching out. Speed figs are very close making for a spectacularly competitive event. Our task is to hook together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#5 Parlor (Leparoux / Kenneally) might go off as the favorite with the second highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and three hearty workouts. He has already acquitted himself over this course. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Gorgeous Kitten (Geroux / Maker) will challenge with a couple of very good last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and two sturdy workouts. This guy loves the Turf and should get the distance easily.

O' Canada Stakes Saturday

Looking over the Northern boarder to take a fantastic Turf mile for our Stakes Saturday.

Woodbine Race 12 {Woodbine Mile~G1~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A field of eight will go to the gate in this annual contest. There is some speed to set honest fractions. Speed numbers are fairly close with three Euros coming in to take up the challenge. It should be the best race of the day as we edge even closer to the Breeder's Cup races.

#8 Tepin (Leparoux / Casse) is the lone girl taking on these boys. She is certainly the horse to beat as she tries to maintain her seven race winning streak. This daughter of Bernstein should sit right off the pace and gun it in the stretch. Coming into this race off a modest layoff after winning a prestigious Ascot race across the pond, she should be able to handle these guys. This esteemed lady holds the highest speed number at the distance and has put in four sensational peaking workouts in preparation. Not much value for a W/P/S wager. We will throw down an Exacta wheel with our selections.
$1 WIN

#1 Tower of Texas (DaSilva / R. Attfield) should challenge as he takes up a little bet closer tracking position. He holds the second highest speed number at the distance, a two race progression, and three powerful peaking workouts. This lad loves the Woodbine course like no other earning an 85% in the money record over it. A son of Street Sense, he will build up a serious kick heading down the long stretch.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.

#5 Full Mast (Rosario / Mott) appears to be ready for a big race with possibly the highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and one sound workout. He will be coming into this with a brief freshening seeking to cash as he rounds into form. A son of Mizzen Mast, expect him to track the pace and strike in the stretch.
$1 SHOW.

#2 Mutakayyef [GB] (O'Neill / Haggas) is one of the Euro invaders seeking an upset. He has raced exceptionally well in Great Britain having a 100% in the money record from thirteen starts. He was in for the show last out at a longer route. This lad is a son of Sea the Stars [GB]. Look him to take up a tracking positon looking to explode in the stretch.

Exotic Plays

$1 Exacta Wheel:  #8 Tepin / #1 Tower of Texas, #5 Full Mast, #2 Mutakayyef [GB].

20 CENT Superfecta:  #8 Tepin  /  #1 Tower of Texas  /  #5 Full Mast, #2 Mutakayyef [GB]  /  ALL.

Kentucky Downs Race 9 {Dueling Grounds Derby~1 5/16 mile~TURF~ 3 year-olds~Stakes}

A contentious field of eleven will take to the Kentucky Turf in this featured Stakes race. There is a bit of speed to provide an honest pace. Speed numbers appear to be very close making for a competitive contest. Our task is whip-up a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#9 Little Scotty (Prat / Drysdale) might be able to control the pace up front and perform a wire job on this field. He holds the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three forwardly strengthening workouts. This lad is one of three that have gone this distance and has been in the money in both tries. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#12 Nessy (B. Hernandez / Corrigan) should be able to contend with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and four sensational peaking workouts. His won his lone race at this distance. He should be able to track and close into the pace.

#11 Oscar Nominated (Geroux / Maker) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and one solid workout. He is another that will track the pace and close vigorously in the stretch.

#5 Manitoulin (Lanerie / Toner) will contend with the fourth highest last out speed number, an eight race progression, and two hearty workouts. This guy should take up a tracking positon ready to strike. He has raced twice at this distance and has scored a victory.
