Superfecta Sunday on the Turf

 We look in on a nice Turf race in Southern California.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 9 {1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Allowance / Claiming}

A hefty field of twelve will hit the green in this lucky last on the card.

Past Performance used:  Equibase.

There is plenty of speed to develop a frothy pace. Only three have yet to race on the Del Mar Turf. Those that have raced over the surface have had some measure of success. Speed numbers are very close. It should be a very good race.

#5 Maltese Falcon [IRE] (T. Baze / Powell) comes in with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route and one strong workout. This guy will track the pace and strike going into the stretch. He loves the surface, distance, and course. A son of Caravaggio, he is 60% in the money from ten starts.

$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#9 X J Rascal [IRE] (G. Franco / Mulhall) should be part of the speed team on the front-end. He holds the highest last out speed number and two sound workouts. This guy has done well over the Turf, at the distance, and over the Del Mar course. A son of Kodiac [GB], he is 66% in the money from twelve starts.

#7 Hawker (Rispoli / Sadler) will stretch out to this distance and enjoy it. He should track the pace closely and find an opening in the stretch. This colt holds the the second highest (tie) last out speed number and has two high strength workouts. A son of Justify, he is 28% in the money from seven starts.

#3 Lil Nas (JJ Hernandez / Sadler) will battle on the front-end. This lad shows a decent last out speed number and three strong workouts. He holds the highest speed number (tie) over the Turf among this group. A son of He Be Fire N Ice, he is 40% in the money from ten starts.

Superfecta Sunday on the California Coast

 We again look at the lucky last where the Surf meets the Turf.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 9 {1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Maiden Special Weight}

A reduced field of ten will hit the green in this lucky last on the card.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There are enough forwardly placed types to produce an honest pace. Only four have raced over the Del Mar course. Most will be covering this distance for the first time. Speed numbers are fairly close. It should be a very good race on a day with few tracks in action.

#8 Carribean King (JJ Hernandez / Eurton) will stretch out to this distance with the fourth highest last out speed number and two sound workouts. He has the tacticl speed to feel out how the pace shapes up and go with the flow. This gelding loves the surface and the course. A son of Speightstown, he is 60% in the money from five starts.

$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#6 Sea of Cortez [IRE] (Periera / D'Amato) should track the pace with the highest last out speed number and three superb workouts. He will compete over the Del Mar course for the first time. This guy will be stretching out. A son of Caravaggio, he is 50% in the money from two starts.

#4 One of These Days [IRE] (G. Franco / D'Amato) is another tracker making his second North American start after racing twice in Ireland. He comes off a long layoff with four strong workouts. This gelding should show improvement. A son of Awtaad, he looks to hit the board in his fourth career race.

#2 Khantaro d'Oro (Fresu / O'Neill) should be forwardly placed with three good last out speed numbers and one high powered bullet workout. He relishes the surface and the course. A son of Kantharos, he is 62% in the money from eight starts.

Stakes Saturday in Kentucky

 We take in some stakes action under the Twin Spires on this Stakes Saturday.

Churchill Downs Race 12 {Fern Creek Stakes~6 1/2 Furlongs~2 year-old~Fillies~Stakes}

A great group of twelve will go to the dirt in this lucky last on the card stakes race.

There is a plethora of speed to heat this pace to a boil. Speed figs are very close amongst these lightly raced gals. Half the field have raced at least three times, the balance will be making their second or third start. Only three have gone this exact distance. It should be an excellent race to cap off the card.

#1 Youalmosthadme (Gaffalione / B. Cox) holds the highest last out speed number and two efficient workouts. She loves the surface and the track. It will be her first start at this distance. Expect her to be forwardly placed. A daughter of Oxbow, she is 100% in the money from five starts.

Superfecta Sunday in Kentucky

 We are keen to take on the lucky last race at Churchill on this Superfecta Sunday.

Churchill Downs Race 10 {6 furlongs~3 year-old Up~Maiden Special Weight}

A talented group of ten will hit the Churchill dirt.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is enough speed in this one to create a frothy pace. Only one first time starter is among the field. Three will be navigating this sprint distance for the first time. Speed numbers are fairly close making it competitive. It should be a good race to cap off the Churchill card.

#7 Skelly (B. Hernandez / Asmussen) will be making his second start with the highest last out speed number and four strong peaking workouts. He should show speed. A son of Practical Joke, he is 100% in the money from his only start.

Homeward Bound for Furlong Friday

 We look at the lucky last at our home track, Arlington International Racecourse, on this Furlong Friday.

Arlington International Race 8 {7 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Optional Claiming}

A solid field of nine will scurry off onto the Polytrack surface in the last race on the card. There is one speedster and four that are likely to settle near the pace. Speed numbers are very close making this one highly competitive. It should be an excellent race to cap off the race day at magnificent Arlington International.

#8 Darlin Rosie (Emigh / Randazzo) could have the edge with the highest last out speed number and one peaking workout. This gal loves the surface, distance and the Arlington track. She should be forwardly placed ready to spring into the stretch. A daughter of Devil Hunter, she is 69% in the money from forty-two career starts.

#2 Looktheotherway (C. Roman / A. Hernandez) should challenge with the third highest (3-way tie) last out speed number. She has won both of her starts at this very distance. This six year-old mare is another that loves the surface and the Arlington track. She will take up a tracking position looking for some pace. This filly is yet another that enjoys the surface, distance, and Arlington track. A daughter of Cairo Prince, she will be making her second start over the Arlington Track after hitting the board twice at Lone Star Park.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club R10.  Del Mar Derby--G2. We bailed on our 10 CENT Superfecta Box play due to a scratch of one of our group of four. Superfecta went 4-11-9-2.

Our Bronze Horseshoe selection, Pixelate, won (1st) for show money of $2.80.

Bankroll gains eight dimes to settle at $79.82.
