Furlong Friday at the "Spa"

Thank goodness it is Furlong Friday.

Saratoga Race 2 {6 1/2 furlong~3 year-old Up~Maiden Claiming}

An intriguing group of nine will go to the dirt in this Maiden Claiming race. There may be only one with some giddy-up in this field with the others tracking his lead. Speed numbers appear to be fairly close. This race could be a Superfecta players dream as any one of these has the potential to finish in the money.

#7 Magical Connection (Bridgmohan / Stall) looks to be improving. He holds the fourth highest (3-way tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and one sound workout. This lad should be tracking the pace closely ready to strike in the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 SHOW.

#8 Powerofone (I Rodriguez / Sheppard) is the most interesting runner in the field. After an initial career of eighteen races over the hurdles, he now hits the flats as a maiden. His last race was a hurdle race of over two miles and now breaks into a sprint. He has put in three superb workouts in preparation. His connections must have seen something to change his career course.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#2 Exposed (Carmouche / Lawrence) is moving in the proper direction with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one excellent workout. He is another that will be tracking the pace while stretching out an additional 110 yards.

#5 Noble Hustle (Franco / A. Dutrow) should be the favorite with the highest last out speed number at a route, a five race progression, and three hearty workouts. He also holds the highest speed number at the distance. This lad should show speed, but has a versatile running style to stay close to whatever pace develops.

Horse Racing Weekend Begins at the "Spa"

Going into the Labor Day Holiday we turn to the "Spa" for a good sprint to start off our Horse Racing Weekend.

Saratoga Race 3 {6 1/2 furlongs~3 year-old Up~fillies/mares~Claiming}

A decent field of six will enter the gate in this early on the card race. With the scratch of Evangeline's Hope it becomes a New York bred contest. There is plenty of speed which should make the pace a tad heated. Speed numbers are fairly comparable. It should be a terrific race.

#4 Saluda (J. Ortiz / Nevin) should take advantage of the speed by grinding through the stretch. She holds the highest speed number at this distance, the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one strong workout. This lady has the best in the money record (64%) of the field. She should track and close nicely.
$1 WIN  /  $2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#5 Stolen Victory (Castellano / Contessa) should challenge with the second highest last speed number at a route, a two race progression, and one solid workout. She will be attempting this distance for the first time running close to the pace seeking to get first jump on the leaders.

#2 Cryptic Comet (L. Saez / Terranova) should contend with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one hearty workout. She loves the Saratoga track and will use her tactical speed to position nicely for a possible win.

#6 Annie Walker (I. Ortiz / Jacobson) could be in the mix with a couple decent last out speed numbers at a higher level of competition. She does hold the second highest speed number at the distance and has put in two superb workouts. This gal should be forwardly placed ready to pounce.
