Superfecta Sunday at Santa Anita

Hope you all had a very pleasant Christmas Holiday.

On this fourth day of Christmas there will be no "calling birds". Rather we will have delightful thoroughbreds racing downhill.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {Daytona~G3~6 1/2 furlongs~downhill TURF~3 year old Up~Graded Stakes}
A fine field of ten quality Turf horses will hit the hill in this annual contest.  There is plenty of speed to produce a quick pace.  Most in here are coming off brief layoffs so will fire fresh. The speed numbers are fairly close on the downhill ride which should create a highly competitive race. Our task in this challenging downhill contest will be to forage together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#9 Betty's Bambino (M. Garcia / Eurton) has a versatile running style that fits in here nicely. He holds the second highest last out speed number, a six race progression, and three superb workouts. He is 100% in the money at the distance from four starts at such.  This lad is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#1 Sweet Swap (Nakatani / Sadler) should be the favorite and deservedly so. He comes into this race off a brief break sporting the highest last out speed number and three stellar workouts. He also holds the second highest speed number at the distance. This guy should be close to the pace ready to launch into the stretch.

#3 Clubhouse Ride (Talamo / Lewis) should contend despite coming off two clunkers for which he got a needed rest period. He holds the third highest speed number at the distance  and has put in four healthy workouts. Expect him to track and close vigorously.

#10 Play Hard to Get (A. Solis / Kruljac) could be the surprise with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number prior to a brief freshening. That last one was a route and he has put in four excellent workouts since. He is another that will be closing swiftly into the stretch.

Our Bronze Horseshoe runner, Royal Parisian [GB], faltered and finished 10th.
Bankroll plummets to $2.29.  We will supplement with a fin for todays racing action.

Superfecta Sunday in Florida

We conclude out horse racing weekend with a little Turf contest for the fillies in Florida.

Gulfstream Park Race 8 {7 1/2 furlongs~Turf~2 year old~Fillies~Maiden Special Weight}
A great crop of twelve will saunter onto the green in this feature race.  There is enough speed to keep a swift pace.  There are also three First Time Starters well prepped for their first try over the grass. It should be a contentious, yet exciting contest.  Our task will be to stitch together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#5 Resilient One (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) should be the deserved favorite with the highest speed number at a route and two robust workouts. She is 100% in the money in her two starts. This could be her breakthrough race.

#10 Royal Parisian [GB] (Castellano / C. Brown) is a first time starter that should do well given her connections strong record and her superb workout tab of four works. She is the daughter of Royal Applause [GB]. This gal is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.
$2 SHOW.

#4 Lady Mayfair (Santiago / Morales) should challenge with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and one solid workout. She should be tracking the pace closely ready to spring into the stretch.

#12 Sacred Luna (Lezcano / Clement) is another first time starter seeking to run well with four excellent workouts in the last thirty days. Her connections are strong in all the important categories (2 yo, Turf, and MSW) so she has to be considered.

Stakes Saturday at Gulfstream Park

We engage in our Stakes Saturday with a good Turf contest at magnificent Gulfstream Park.

Gulfstream Park Race 8 {Tropical Park Derby~1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year old~Stakes}
A very good crop of twelve three year-olds will gallop over the grass in this featured stakes race. It appears half the field is made up of speed which should make for a scintillating pace. The speed figs are comparable which adds to the intrigue. Additionally, all but three will be firing fresh after brief layoffs. It should one of the better races of the day.

#9 Smooth Daddy (Castellano / Albertrani) could wire this field it he can hold off the other speedsters in this race. He holds the highest last out speed number at a longer route and has put in three dynamic workouts. This son of Scat Daddy loves the Turf, especially the Gulfstream green posting the second highest speed number over it.

#8 Daddy's Kid (Dunkelberger / Nagle) will pose a challenge with a couple of very good last out races coupled with two superb workouts. Another progeny of Scat Daddy look for him to be closing swiftly in the stretch. He has posted three victories at the distance from four starts.

Friday on the Turf in Florida

We go to the other coast of sunny Florida for a contentious Turf contest on this great Friday.

Tampa Bay Downs Race 6 {1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Claiming}
A closely matched group of eleven will take to the Tampa Bay green in this claiming feature.  There is enough speed in this one to keep the pace honest. Most in here have made a number of races this year already. The speed numbers are fairly close. It should be a wonderful Turf battle.

#7 Delightful Daisy (L. Garcia / Boyce) could be the one to benefit from a brief freshening with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and two wholesome workouts. She should be forwardly placed for great positioning.

#6 Vipera (Gallardo / Cibelli) should challenge with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a three race progression, a win at the distance, and one solid workout.  She should also be forwardly placed in this crowded field. This gal has affinity for the Tampa Bay course.

Sunny Florida Horse Racing Weekend

We start our horse racing weekend peering at a nice Turf contest in the Sunshine State.

A great group of eleven turfers will take to the green in this feature. There is enough speed and forwardly placed types to keep a swift pace on. The speed numbers are very close which should guarantee a contentious race. It should be a great start to our horse racing weekend.

We take a look at a group of youngsters running in a quality stakes race down in Oklahoma City.

Remmington Park Race 11 {Springboard Mile~1 mile~2 year old~Stakes}
A lively group of eleven will go to the gate in this feature stakes race.  There is enough forwardly placed types in here to keep an urgent pace. These lads are all close in their speed fig performances posing a handicapping challenge. We will try to cobble a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box together.

#3 Bayerd (Santana / Asmussen) should be the overall favorite with the fourth highest last out speed number and three robust workouts. This lad is 100% in the money in is four starts. He should be part of the forwardly placed contingent seeking to fire away from the pack.

#1A Conbradulations (Berry / Calhoun) should challenge with a pressing attack. He has already placed at this distance already earning the fourth highest (tie) speed number at this distance among these competitors. This lad holds a couple of decent last out speed figures, a two race progression, and two strong workouts. That highest speed number produced a win at this distance. It appears he can either hang with the boys upfront or decide to come from off the pace to chase the victory.

#4 Hillbilly Style (Court / Lukas) could surprise as he pursues his maiden win. He holds a couple of decent last out speed numbers, is coming off a longer route in which he took the place money, and has put in one grand workout. Should there be a speedy pace he should take every advantage of it.

On this Stakes Saturday we venture to sunny Florida for some Turf action.

A hearty field of nine will go to the green in this feature stakes race. There are enough speedsters and forwardly placed types to ignite a decent pace.  All speed numbers closely resemble one another. It should be a fantastic race.

#7 Mshawish (Castellano / Pletcher) should get a nice pace to run into. He holds the second highest last out speed number at a route, a four race progression, and two dynamic workouts.  This son of Medaglia d'Oro should track the pace in good position, ready to fly.

#1 Excaper (Rosario / Black) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and four superb workouts during a brief freshening. This son of Exchange Rate should be one of the forwardly placed types seeking to hold sway. He loves this distance.

We go to the Turf for our Furlong Friday down in New Orleans.

A solid group of nine gals will go to the green in this Allowance feature. There is plenty of speed which may open it up for one of these girls to take the race from off the pace. Speed figures are relatively comparable. It should be an exciting Turf romp.

#3 Enchanted River (Boyce / Robertson) is the expected favorite with the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer sprint and three tidy workouts. Of this group, she holds the highest speed number over the Fair Grounds course. She should be tracking the speedy types up front.

#7 Fort Prada (Graham / R. Scherer) should be in pursuit with a couple of decent last speed numbers with strong performances, a two race progression, and four superb peaking workouts. She is in fine form and will fire fresh off a brief layoff.

Horse Racing Weekend begins at Laurel

We start off our Horse racing weekend with a nice route on Maryland soil.

A nice group of eight will go to the gate in this longer route race. There are a couple of speedsters that should keep the pace honest.  The speed numbers are relatively close making this a competitive event.

#5 Minor Crisis (Conner / Robb) may have the edge with the fourth highest last out speed number and a two race progression. He will be stretching out to this distance for the first time. This lad is 100% in the money over the Laurel course from three starts. He should be part of the closing contingent.
$2 SHOW.

#4 I'm Da Big Man (Rocco / Vukelic) should challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one stout workout. He has gone this distance over the Turf. A closing kick should be expected from this fella.

#1 Tafawuk (Toledo / Saville) should contend with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two superb workouts. He is another closer that should battle bravely in the stretch. This guy has raced overseas to start off his career.

#3 Double Whammy (Russell / Jacobson) should be prominent with the third highest last out speed number. He is coming down from Aqueduct for this foray on Maryland dirt. This guy might have the highest class of the group.

Big "A" on Stakes Saturday

Another Stakes Saturday rolls up and there are a lot of races to choose from. We select a nice little sprint in New York.

A good crop of seven will make the dash to the wire. There is some speed to keep the pace on track. The speed numbers for all of these gals resemble one another. It should be a good race.

#1 Bridghampton (J. Ortiz / Hushion) is coming out of a grade two and might find this level more to her liking. She holds the fourth highest speed number at the distance and has notched a win over the Aqueduct course. This daughter of Bernardini should be forwardly placed and could perform a wire job.

#4 Winning Image (Black / Aro) will challenge as the other speedster in the race with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three superb peaking workouts. This daughter of Southern Image has already had a stellar career with fourteen wins and a 75% in the money record from thirty-two starts.

Oklahoma, Where Our Horse Racing Weekend Begins

We begin our horse racing weekend with a satisfying dirt route.

Remington Park Race 3 {1 mile 70 yards~3 year old Up~Starter Allowance Optional Claiming}
A solid group of nine will make the start in this route race. There is a ton of speed which should make for a wicked pace. It should be a competitive race as the speed numbers are relatively close. Overall a nice start for out horse racing weekend.

#7 Ammaroo (Vasquez / Villafranco) should be the favorite with the second highest last out speed number and a two race progression. This guy holds the second highest speed number at the distance.  He has a versatile running style which should fit this race nicely.

#8 Ecleto Red (Birzer / Chleborad) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and two superb peaking workouts. This should be part of the speed contingent and is seeking his fourth win in a row.

#6 River Cruising (Wade / Griggs) should contend with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and two hearty peaking workouts. He should be able to track the pace and romp into the stretch.
