Superfecta Sunday at Splendid Santa Anita

We look in on the last race at "The Great Race Place" on this Superfecta Sunday.

Santa Anita Race 9 {6 1/2 furlongs~Downhill Turf~3 year-old Up~Optional Claiming}

A good field of ten will head down the hill in this optional claiming race. There is a plethora of speed which should guarantee a fast pace. Speed numbers are very close making it literally any horse's race.  Our task is to thread together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket. It should be a fabulous race.

#10 Oiseau De Guerre (Gaffalione / McCarthy) might have the edge with the third highest speed number at the distance and a proven in the money record of 80% from five starts at same. This lad has put in three dynamite workouts in preparation and has the tactical speed to feel out the pace. A son of War Front, he loves the Santa Anita Turf. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#5 Flip the Coin Jan (Figueroa / O'Neill) should challenge with the second highest last out speed number at a route and one solid workout. This guy should be forwardly placed. He has already notched a win at this distance all the while holding the fourth highest speed number at same. A son of Trappe Shot, he has the most wins, three, of this group.

#7 Placido (Prat / Callaghan) is another with a win on the downhill Turf course. He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and has put in four superb peaking workouts. A son of Shackleford, he should be tracking the pace closely ready to strike.

#3 Diversionist (Talamo / Cassidy) will be making the transition from dirt to Turf for his second career start. He holds the highest last out speed number and has put in two vigorous workouts. A son of Golden Balls [IRE], he should relish the downhill Turf course.

An Emerald Superfecta Sunday

We look in on closing day at Emerald Downs up in Auburn, Washington for our Superfecta Sunday.

Emerald Downs Race 7 {Getaway Day Stakes~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Stakes}

A nice field of eight will go to the gate in this annual contest. There is enough speed to keep the pace rolling quickly. Speed numbers are fairly close for these competitors. All have solid in the money records making it a challenge to fasten together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. But try we must in what should be a very good race.

#8 Weekend Wizard (Walcott / MacPherson) should go off as the favorite with the highest last out speed numbers at a longer route and one fine workout. He should be the pace-setter and could wire the field. A son of Rosburg, he is 72% in the money form eleven career starts.

#6 Canadian Game (Gutierrez / Gann) will challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, again at a longer route and one superb workout. He should be running close to the pace seeking to get first jump on the field. A son of Curlin, is also 72% in the money from eleven starts.

#4 Yulong Warrior (E. Roman / O'Neill) comes up from California after having raced in Dubai earlier this year. He shares the second highest last out speed number and has put in two stout workouts. This son of Street Cry [IRE], is 66% in the money from nine starts. Epect him to track the pace ready to strike. He is our Bronze Horseshoe slection.

#2 Sippin Fire (Bowen / Bullock) will be seeking his fifth win in a row. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number and has put in one dynamite workout. A son of Harbor the Gold, he is 77% in the money from nine career starts. Figures to be part of the pace scenario.

Superfecta Summer Sunday

On this Superfecta Sunday we turn our attention to a great Turf stakes battle for the youngsters up in O Canada.

Woodbine Race 9 {Summer Stakes~G1~1 mile~TURF~2 year-old~Graded Stakes}

Only one defection makes this a beautifully bred group of twelve which will hit the grass. Most in here have only raced once so there is room for improvement at anytime. Despite their youth, the speed figs are fairly close. There is enough speed to keep the pace vigorous. Our task is to blend together a winning 20 CENT Superfecta box ticket. It should be a terrific Turf race.

#11 Tricky Magician (J. Velazquez / Casse) might have the advantage through racing experience alone. He shows the third highest last out speed number and one stout workout. This lad has hit the board in all three of his career starts. A son of Magician [IRE], he should be forwardly placed ready to strike. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$1 SHOW.

#3 Fog of War (Castellano / C. Brown) should pose a mighty challenge with the second highest last out speed number posted at first asking. He has put in three sound workouts. A son of War Front, he should track the pace and hit the stretch blazing.

#2 Avie's Flatter (Da Silva / J. Carroll) will contend as he makes the surface switch from Tapeta to Turf.  Winning at first asking and producing three solid peaking workouts, this lad is primed for another good race. A son of Flatter, he should be racing close to the pace.

#13 Federal Law (O. Murphy / Watson) comes from across the pond with good experience racing in Great Britain. He placed second in an allowance contest a little more than two weeks ago. Expect this son of Scat Daddy to track the pace and launch bravely into the stretch.

Great Stakes Saturday up in Canada

Today, we look in on the best Turf course in North America, as the horses go long up in Toronto.

Woodbine Race 11 {Northern Dancer~G1~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~graded Stakes}

A spectacular and talented field of ten will go off in this annual contest. There is enough speed to keep a glowing pace. Speed numbers are fairly close among this group giving them each the chance for a breakthrough performance. Only one millionaire among the field. It should be one of the best TURF races on the day.

#10 Patterson Cross (Rosario / Mott) might pull the upset here with the highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route and two strong workouts. This lad loves the turf and the distance. He comes in from Saratoga where he should be tracking the pace. A son of Arch, he is 57% in the money from fourteen starts.

#6 Tiz a Slam (Bahen / Attfield) could surprise with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and two superb workouts. This guy is has visited the winners circle six times and loves the Woodbine course. A son of Tiznow, he has the speed to be the controlling pace.
He should be in the thick of it from the bell.

#5 Hawkbill (Spencer / C. Appleby) should go off as the favorite with three reasonably successful last races across the pond. This lad loves the distance having hit the board 80% of the time. A son of Kitten's Joy, he has the tactical speed to stay the course. He is the lone millionaire in the field.

#1 Mekhtaal [GB] (J. Ortiz / Motion) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number and four stamina producing workouts. He relishes the TURF and the Woodbine course. A son of Sea the Stars [GB], he should track and close gallantly. Should the pace collapse, he could be the first on the wire.

Up North for Superfecta Sunday

Today we take in a superb Stakes race up in Canada.

Woodbine Race 8 {Belle Mahone Stakes~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Stakes}

A real nice group of eight gals will to to the gate in this feature race. There is enough speed to put forth a demanding pace over the Tapeta surface. Speed numbers are very close among this group. Our task is to weave a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. It should be an excellent race.

#1 My Arch Enemy (Boulanger / Casse) looks primed to perform on the front end of this race. She holds a couple of good last out speed figs and two high quality workouts. This gal holds the second highest speed number at the distance. A daughter of Arch, she loves the Woodbine track having been in the money 88% of the time.

#5 Superiority Complex [IRE] (Contreras / Stidham) should challenge with the highest last out speed number and two hearty peaking workouts. She comes up from Arlington Park after having raced over in Great Britain. A daughter of Hard Spun, she has hit the board in her last three. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$1 SHOW.

#2 Gamble's Ghost (DaSilva / J. Carroll) should go off as the favorite after winning her last two races. She holds the third highest last out speed number and has put in four robust workouts. This daughter of Ghostzapper is an amazing 92% in the money over the Woodbine track from thirteen starts. Definitely the one to beat as she will come a running heading into the stretch.

#6 Mexican Hat (Wilson / Day Phillips) should contend with a couple of good last out speed numbers and three strong workouts. She should track close to the pace ready to spring into the stretch. She loves this distance and the Woodbine track. A daughter of Street Cry [IRE], she is 100% in the money over synthetic from five races.

Stakes Saturday on Kentucky Turf

On this Stakes Saturday we take in the view at that great little unique TURF course in Kentucky, Kentucky Downs.

Kentucky Downs Race 10 {Kentucky Turf Cup~G3~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A great field of twelve will hit the Kentucky green in this annual event. There is just enough speed to make it an interesting pace, though you can expect a quickening turning for home. Speed numbers are super close which gives any of these in here to visit the winners circle. A couple of millionaires join the fray. It should be a very exciting race.

#6 Oscar Nominated (J. Ortiz / Maker) might just have the edge with the highest (tie) last out speed number and four exceptional peaking workouts. This lad has never finished off the board in five starts at this distance. Expect him to chart close to the pace. A millionaire son of Kitten's Joy, he loves this course having won both times he has raced over it.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  / $5 SHOW.

#9 Soglio (L. Saez / Maker) should challenge with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and four high quality workouts. He leads this field with an impressive 70% in the money record from twenty career starts. A son of Scat Daddy, he will be part of the tracking crew seeking to hit the wire.

#4 Bigger Picture (Gaffalione / Maker) should contend with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and two superb workouts. This guy is the other millionaire in the race seeking to pad his bank account. A son of Badge of Silver, he should close magnificently. He has the most victories in this field and will be seeking his twelfth.

#8 Arklow (Geroux / B. Cox) should be in the hunt sharing the third highest last out speed number and putting in three hearty workouts prepping for this race. This guy should have plenty of run coming into the stretch. A son of Arch, he does enjoy the Turf.

Holiday Monday Racing

Today marks the unofficial end of Summer. With Del Mar and Saratoga closing out their summer season's, we look forward to some exceptional Fall racing. On this Holiday Monday we explore a fantastic race in gorgeous upstate New York.

Saratoga Race 10 {The Hopeful~G1~7 Furlongs~2 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A wonderful group of eight youngsters will go to the gate in this annual Saratoga sendoff.
There is enough speed to establish a swift pace. Speed numbers are all over the matrix, but these young colts can improve greatly in any race. It should be a great race as a fitting end of the terrific Stakes Races held at Saratoga this summer.

#1 Somebeyay (Castellano / Pletcher) might have the edge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number as a win over the Saratoga track and four strong workouts. This lad has hit the board in all three of his career starts. A son of Into Mischief, he should track the pace and strike in the stretch.

#3 Nitrous (Santana / Asmussen) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number and four hearty peaking workouts. Another who had hit the board in both of his career starts. A son of Tapit, he has also notched a win over the Saratoga track. Expect him to be close to the pace.

#7 Mucho (J. Ortiz / Mott) contend with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two solid workouts. Yet another that has won over the Saratoga track, he will be tracking the pace ready to score. A son of Blame, he stretches out a furlong for this race.

#5 Dream Maker (Leparoux / Casse) is another son of Tapit. He holds a decent last out speed number while breaking his maiden at a shorter sprint. This colt has put three powerful, peaking workouts in preparation. He comes into the race off a brief freshening, definitely ready to fire.

Super Derby Superfecta Sunday

On this beautiful Superfecta Sunday we look in on a graded stakes race at that fabulous track down in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Louisiana Downs Race 11 {Super Derby~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A quality field of nine will go to the gate in this annual Graded Stakes race. There is sufficient speed to create a heated pace. Speed numbers are all fairly close making this race a highly competitive event. Our task is to stitch together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket. It should be a great race.

#3 Lone Sailor (Graham / Amoss) is the class of the field and should be able to pull off the victory. He holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number at slightly longer route and two hearty workouts. This son of Majestic Warrior has competed at the highest levels this year and should take up a nice tracking position.

#8 High North (Geroux / B. Cox) should challenge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route and two stout workouts. He holds the highest speed number at this distance and is 57% in the money at the same. A son of Midnight Lute, he should be racing close to the pace. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#1 Autumn Warrior (C. Hernandez / Stall) should be in contention from the start with a couple of very good last out speed numbers and two sound workouts. This guy will be seeking his fourth win in a row. A son of Orb, he has already won twice over the Louisiana Downs track.

#9 Lionite (Cabrera / Asmussen) should challenge sharing the second highest speed number at a longer route and putting in two superb peaking workouts. He is an impressive 66% in the money from nine career starts. A son of Quality Road, he has the tactical speed to position himself well for the stretch run.

A Grade One Stakes Saturday

Upstate New York is where the action is on this Stakes Saturday as we turn out attention to a fantastic grade one at the Spa.

Saratoga Race11 {Woodward~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

An awesome field of fourteen will go to the gate in this annual grade one stakes race.
It comes up a little bet light on speed though the speed numbers are fairly close. There are five millionaires bidding to bank more cash.  Quality through and through as these lads battle for position and the wire. It should be the most exciting race of the day.

#10 Seeking the Soul (Castellano / D. Stewart) might have the advantage with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four powerful workouts.This guy appears ready to track the leaders down for the score. This millionaire son of Perfect Soul [IRE], is 73% in the money from nineteen starts.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#9 Gunnevera (Zayas / Sano) looks primed and ready for another good performance. he holds a couple of good last out speed numbers and three superb workouts. Of this group he holds the second highest speed number over a track he loves, Saratoga. A millionaire son of Dialed In he will be closing swiftly with a solid pace up front.

#1 Yoshida [JPN] (Rosario / Mott) will be making his first start on the dirt. A brilliant Turfer, he holds the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and two sound workouts. He has an outstanding chance with a ground saving inside trip. A son of Hearts Cry [JPN], he is 70% in the money from ten career starts.

#5 Hence (Santana / Asmussen) should challenge with a couple of very good last out speed numbers, a six race progression, and two hearty peaking workouts. As he continues to improve, look for him to close well with the right pace. A son of Street Boss, he comes off a nice prep win down in Albuquerque, NM.

#14 Rally Cry (M. Smith / Pletcher) is a Saratoga lover with the highest speed number over the course and distance. He comes into this race after a brief freshening and should be ready to battle from the outside post. Four strong workouts indicate he is ready to run. A son of Uncle Mo, he should be part of the pace scenario.
