Stakes Saturday Long on Turf

We celebrate our Stakes Saturday by going long on the Turf at the "Great Race Place."

Santa Anita Park Race 7 {American Oaks~G1~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Fillies~Graded Stakes}

A fantastic field of nine fillies will go long on the green in this annual affair. There is a little speed which could produce a casual pace with the speedsters hoping to game the rest of this bunch. Speed numbers for these gals are very, very close which makes it super competitive. This should be the most exciting race on today's card.

#1 Madam Dancealot [IRE] (Nakatani / Baltas) could pop with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and four superb workouts. She will be stretching out for this one, but appears to be well prepped. A daughter of Sir Prancealot [IRE], she should come make a nice run from off the pace.

#9 New Money Honey (Castellano / C. Brown) could go off as the favorite with the defection of her barn-mate, Rymska [FR]. She holds a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and four sound workouts. This gal has the tactical speed to stay the course and could take the field wire to wire. A daughter of Medaglia d'Oro, she is the only millionaire in the field.

#2 Kathy's Song (Blanc / Baltas) looks to improve mightily as she stretches out in distance. She has put in a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a tremendous nine race progression, and two solid workouts. A daughter of Candy Ride [ARG], she should track the pace and strike in the stretch.

#6 Beau Recall [IRE] (Talamo / Callaghan) should challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and four hearty workouts. She loves the Santa Anita Turf course holding a 100% in the money over it from four tries. Another daughter of Sir Prancealot [IRE], she has competed once at this distance.

Christmas Eve Superfecta Sunday

We look in on the Turf in glorious South Florida for our Superfecta Sunday on Christmas Eve.

Gulfstream Park Race 9 {7 1/2 Furlongs~TURF~2 year-old~Fillies~Optional Claiming}

A grand field of twelve fillies will hit the green in this feature race. There is enough speed to carry a swift pace. Speed numbers look fairly close as these youngsters battle gracefully before turning when we turn into the New year. Our task is to group together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket.

#4 Lenamarie (L. Saez / Kenneally) looks like she might have the edge with the highest (three-way tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and two sound workouts. She is 100% in the money from two career starts. A daughter of Paynter, she should track and close neatly. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#8 Go Nori Go (Gaffalione / Maker) should challenge sharing that highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two superb workouts. #9 My Masterpiece (P. Lopez / Wilensky) will be in the hunt with the second highest last out speed number at a slightly longer route and two super strong workouts. A daughter of Midnight Lute, she should be tracking the pace ready to strike heading into the stretch.

#10 Annabella Queen (Vazquez / D'Angelo) should be in the mix with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three robust workouts. She should be forwardly placed seeking to get first jump on the pace setters. A daughter of Wildcat Heir, she loves the grass.

Stakes Saturday in the Sunshine

On this Stakes Saturday we take in a roaring graded stakes sprint in sunny Florida.

Gulfstream Park Race 10 {Mr. Prospector~G3~6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A high caliber field of ten will hit the Florida dirt in this annual contest. There is speed which insures a contested pace. Last out speed numbers are fairly close making for a competitive event. Only two in here have hit the triple-digit speed number in their careers. it should be a greatly exhilarating speed fest.

#6 X Y Jet (Jaramillo / J. Navarro) will go off as the deserved favorite. He is coming back from a little over a year layoff, but has trained progressively. This lad is the class of the field and should be victorious on his return. Difficult to wager against him with four dynamite workouts prepping for this one. A son of Kantharos, he should take the lead and not look back. Odds will be low. Consequently, a token win wager will be made.

#3 Yourdreamsormine (L. Saez / Dobles) should challenge as the other horse holding a triple-digit speed number. This guy has a couple of good last out speed numbers and four superb workouts. With a strong pace, he will use his tracking capability to good advantage. A son of Mr. Sekiguchi, he favours the distance and cherishes the Gulfstream Park track.

#1 First Growth (Carrales / Londono) should contend with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one solid workout. This lad also holds the second highest speed number at the distance. A son of Candy Ride [ARG], he has the tactical speed to adjust to any pace developments.

#7 Fire Mission (Gaffalione / J. Navarro) will be in the mix as he shoots for his fifth win in a row. This guy holds the second highest last out speed number and one bullet workout. He should be forwardly placed at a distance he relishes as he holds the third highest speed number at it. A son of Wildcat Heir, he holds the most wins of this field at an amazing sixteen.

Furlong Friday at the Fair Grounds

Off we go down to NOLA for our Furlong Friday.

Fair Grounds Race 5 {6 Furlongs~2 year-old~Fillies~Maiden Claiming}

An intriguing crop of eight will go to the gate in an attempt to get in a win before the year runs out. There is a little speed, but three first time starters who may or may not be sent making for an very interesting race. Of those who have already gotten a race under their saddle, the speed numbers are very close. It should be an exciting race.

#7 Sacred Storm (Geroux / Howard) should go off as the deserved favorite with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three robust workouts. She is coming in from Churchill Downs after facing tougher there. She should track the pace and launch into the stretch.

#9 Soco Unbridled (Theriot / Calhoun) should challenge after earning a decent speed number in her first try at Churchill. Since then she has put in three superb peaking workouts. This gal holds the highest purchase price of any in this field.

An evening Superfecta Sunday as we look in on the last race on the Remmington Park card as it closes out its racing season.

An excellent group of eleven young ladies will enter the gate in this finale. There is plenty of speed to make sure there will be a swift pace. The speed numbers are extremely close. Stakes Saturday in Florida

A nice Saturday for Horse racing.  Today we take a peek at a competitive graded stakes race in warm and sunny Florida.

Gulfstream Park Race 9 {Harlan's Holiday~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A good field of nine will go to the gate in this annual contest. There is enough speed to create a fluid pace. Speed numbers are fairly close. It should be a terrific race as Gulfstream ramps up its Championship season.

#7 Fear the Cowboy (Castellano / Loza) could have the edge with the second highest last out speed number and a two race progression. This guy loves the track and the distance. He is a strong 65% in the money from twenty-six starts. A son of Cowboy Cal, he should take up a tracking position and strike in the stretch.

#3 Destin (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) will take up the challenge with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route and two sturdy workouts. Furlong Friday at Delta

Thank goodness for Furlong Friday. We take in a dirt sprint down Louisiana way.

Delta Downs Race 8 {7 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Allowance}

A nice field of nine will hit the dirt in this night time allowance race. There is sufficient speed to build-up a decent pace. Speed numbers are fairly close with only six in the field covering this distance. It should be a great battle to the wire. 

#8 Its A Journey (G. Melancon / Amoss) comes in from Churchill Downs as the only one in the field has yet to race on the Delta track. She shows a couple good last out speed numbers. She should be traveling relatively close to the pace setters ready to strike in the stretch. Dropping in from a more competitive event, she should make a nice improvement.
#2 SHOW.

#6 Panoe (D. Velazquez / Berndt) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one solid workout. She enjoys this track as she has hit the board in both of her efforts over it. This gal should track and go.

#3 Night Parade (J. Melancon / Whited) should be in the mix with the fourth highest last out speed number, an eight race progression, and one strong workout. She favors this track having won in all four of her runs over it. Look for her to track the pace closely.

#2 Lucky Loretta (Martin / Berndt) could go off as the favorite with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one stout workout. She has three wins over the Delta Downs track from four races. This lady should track the pace, but has shown some zip in a previous effort.

On this Superfecta Sunday we journey up North as fabulous Woodbine concludes its 2017 season.

Going very long on the Woodbine Tapeta surface we have a fantastic field of twelve seeking to end the season on a winning note. It does come up a little light on speed, but there are a few that should be forwardly placed. Speed numbers over synthetic are fairly close. Many in this race appear to be in decent form. Our task is to string together a winning 20 CENT Superfecta Box ticket as a superlative race unfolds.

#11 Melmich (DaSilva / K. Attard) should be the deserved odds on favorite with the highest last out speed number, the highest speed number at this long distance, and one sturdy workout. This guy is 81% in the money from thirty-three starts. A son of Wilko, he does indeed enjoy the distance.

#2 Leavem in Malibu (P. Husbands / Casse) should contend with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and two robust workouts. He is 81% in the money from eleven starts. He will be stretching out for the distance, but he loves the Tapeta surface and the Woodbine track. A son of Malibu Moon, he should be forwardly placed.

#5 Tasseron (Moreno / Ladouceur) could surprise with a couple of good last out speed numbers finishing in the money in both efforts. He will be dropping in distance from his last and couples that marathon run with two very strong workouts. This lad may be forwardly placed to get first jump on the leader. On this Superfecta Sunday we take a peak at a graded stakes race at Los Alamitos.

A solid group of eight gals will take to the Los Al dirt. There is enough speed to keep an honest pace. Dirt speed numbers are very close which should produce a highly competitive race. Our task is to cobble together a wining 10 CENT Superfecta ticket.

#6 Pacific Wind (Bejarano / Eurton) should be able to get the job done with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three strong peaking workouts. Stakes Saturday at the Big A

A great Stakes Saturday unfolds with a number of terrific Stakes races across the country. Today we look at a high quality mile race at the "Big A".

Aqueduct Race 10 {Cigar Mile~G1~1 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

An excellent field of ten will saunter over to the gate in one of the great Fall races every year. There is speeeed... which could easily set up for the horses coming from off the pace.
Speed numbers are close for the main contenders. There are four millionaires among this crew all of which have a legit shot to take home the win. It should be one of the best races at venerable Aqueduct as the year comes to a close.

#8 Practical Joke (Rosario / C. Brown) seeks to grab this grade one with a couple of very good last out speed numbers and two solid workouts. He loves this distance and the surface having hit the board in nine of his ten races over dirt. This millionaire son of Into Mischief has the tracking and closing capability to nip the speedsters at the wire.

Thank goodness for Furlong Friday. Today we take in a nice sprint down in NOLA.

Fair Grounds Race 7 {6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~LA~Claiming}

A small field of seven will take to the dirt in this Louisiana Claiming race. Speed is there. Speed numbers are fairly close making it a competitive event. A number in here have had modest to extended layoffs assuring some freshness to the equine talent. It should be a good race.

#5 Crimson Feline (Sutherland / Richards) has all the tools to make a break for a victory. She is coming in off an extended layoff with a couple of solid workouts. She holds the second highest speed number at the distance with an 87% in the money record at the same.

#3 Another Pinot (Bridgmohan / Broberg) should challenge coming out of a more competitive event. She holds the highest speed number at the distance. She should be forwardly placed seeking the winners circle.

#2 My Queen Olivia (Graham / Mouton) comes into this race off a modest layoff. She holds some decent speed figs in her last three. This gal has put in the best workout tab of the group and should be well positioned to hit the board.

#1 Minister of War (Murrill / Schwandt) has notched a victory at this distance in her only try cover six furlongs. She has had a modest layoff with a hearty workout. This gal is 54% in the money from twenty-four starts.

As Del Mar finishes its terrific Bing Crosby season, we take a look at a grade one on the Turf.

A great group of eleven gals will hit the Turf in this annual affair. There is speed o'plenty in this talented field. Speed numbers are very close making it a highly competitive race. All of these gals are in good form, so it should be a very exciting race. Our task is to mold together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#10 Hawksmoor [IRE] (Leparoux / Delacour) should be well placed for this event with the fourth highest last out speed number and four vigorous peaking workouts. She should track the pace closely and spring into the stretch. A daughter of Azamour [IRE], she is 73% in the money from fifteen career starts. This gal is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#6 Amore's Prayer (Valdivia / Sibile) might have the edge dropping in from a race against an arguably tiny bit tougher group. She has raced only twice, but produced a couple of decent speed numbers. With a peaking workout tab she should be properly prepped for her return to the races after an extended layoff.

Superfecta Sunday along the Surf

Superfecta Sunday brings near the surf to take in a dirt sprint in sunny California.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 8 {Cary Grant Stakes~7 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~CA~Stakes}

A terrific field of ten will go to the gate in this great Stakes race. There is a plethora of speed among this group which should induce a very fast pace. Speed numbers are significantly close. It should be an extremely exciting race. Our task is to hook together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#9 Smokey Image (Stevens / Gaines) might have a slight edge with the second highest last out speed number at a route and four sensational peaking workouts. He comes off a modest layoff well prepped to run fresh. This guy likes the surface, distance and Del Mar track. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#8 California Diamond (Desormeaux / Miller) comes out of a downhill Turf try at Santa Anita last out, but has done exceeding well over the dirt, distance and Del Mar track. #6 Jimmy Bouncer (Pedroza / Pender) should contend with the fourth highest last out speed number and two sturdy workouts. He should be tracking the speedy pace closely and get first jump on the trackers. This gelding notched a win at the distance in his only effort.

#10 Smokey Image (Bejarano / Moger) should be in the mix with the third highest last out speed number and four endurance heightening workouts. With two wins in a row he should be in fine form. This guy has the highest overall in the money record at 88%.

Stakes Saturday in Ol' Kentucky

We go to the Turf for this Stakes Saturday in Kentucky.

Churchill Downs Race 10 {Cardinal Handicap~G3~1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A good group of nine ladies, after early scratches, will hit the good Turf. All have hit the board over good rated Turf in early efforts. The race comes up a little light on speed which could produce a Euro-quickening heading into the stretch. Speed numbers are very close over the Turf. It should be a highly competitive race.

#9 Linda (B. Hernandez / Wilkes) might have the edge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and three superb workouts. She loves the Turf and the Churchill course. This daughter of the late Scat Daddy, will be stretching out to the distance. She should track the pace comfortably.

We take our Superfecta Sunday by the Pacific Ocean where the "Turf meets the Surf".

A really nice group of eleven horses will hit the Turf near the surf in this last on the card event. There is enough speed to maintain a swift pace. Speed numbers are right up against another giving no Turfer a supreme advantage. Our task is to cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#11 Colour Me Happy [GB] (Frey / Sadler) should give a good account of himself with the highest last out speed number at a longer route and four strong workouts. He is coming off a short layoff which should keep him fresh. This lad also shares the highest speed number at the distance. A swift pace enhances his chances for victory. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#7 I'malreadythere (Talamo / Machowsky) should contend with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, the last one being at a longer route. Add in three hearty workouts and he should do well. He is 100% in the money at the distance from four efforts. This guy will be tracking the pace and quickening into the stretch.

#4 Conquest Sabre Cat (Bejarano / Palma) should be in the hunt with the third highest last out speed number and three sturdy workouts. This guy should be forwardly placed and get first run on those horses coming from off the pace. 

#3 Silent Movies (Franco / Sadler) should be in the mix as one of the horses leading the charge. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four excellent peaking workouts. A robust 77% in the money record at the distance adds to his luster.

Stakes Saturday at the "Big A"

Turf action is the call for our Stakes Saturday. A sweet long route at the "Big A".

Aqueduct Race 8 {Red Smith Handicap~G3~1 3/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A decent field of ten will hit the New York green in this graded event. There is some speed which should create an honest pace. Speed figs come up fairly close making for a competitive race. In terms of field size and quality of the equines, it should be one of the better Turf battles of the day.

#2 Money Multiplier (Castellano / C. Brown) should be the deserved favorite with the highest (tie) speed number at the distance, a couple of very good last out speed numbers and four high quality workouts. A son of Lookin At Lucky, he should travel close to the pace and create a path to victory.

#3 Get Jets (J. Velazquez / A. Dutrow) should challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and four superb peaking workouts. He should find a good tracking position and explode into the stretch. A son of Scat Daddy, this lad is in great form having won his last two races.

For this Superfecta Sunday we hope to see some great Turf action down in Kentucky.

#5 Little Mizzy (Lanerie / Cox) should contend with the second highest last out speed number and a two race progression. She is another tracker that should move smoothly in the stretch run. This gal is 75% in the money from four career starts.

Breeders' Cup Turf

On this Stakes Saturday we take in one of the premiere races on the horse racing calendar.

Del Mar Race 11 {Longines Breeders' Cup Turf~G1~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A superior field of thirteen will hit the Del Mar green in one of the best Breeders' Cup races. There is enough speed to produce a solid pace. Speed numbers are close as expected among world class horses. The field consists of six millionaires. The Euro invaders have been having an exceptional Breeders' Cup meet and have acquitted themselves nobly over the firm Turf. This should be a tremendously exciting race.

#4 Decorated Knight (Atzeni / Charlton) will be stretching out to this distance with the highest last out speed number and a two race progression. A millionaire son of Galileo [IRE], he has won eight times in his eighteen race career. This lad will be tracking the pace closely and try to get first jump on the pace-setters. He does relish firm going.

We open up our Horse Racing Weekend with a fantastic race in the Breeders' Cup Championships.

A super high caliber field of ten will compete for the million dollar purse in this mile on the dirt. There is enough speed to keep a swift pace. There are four millionaires represented and a few that are on the cusp of becoming one. Speed numbers are very close making this one any horse's race. All but one are coming into this one off a nice freshening. It should be one hell of a race.

#8 Accelerate (Espinoza / Sadler) could pull of the victory with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four supreme peaking workouts. This guy is 92% in the money from thirteen career starts. He loves the surface, loves the distance and loves Del Mar. This lad should be tracking the pace closely and get first jump on those coming from off the pace.

On a beautiful Autumn day we look at a good Turf mile race in Southern California.

A great big field of thirteen gals will go to the green as the Santa Anita Fall meet ends, making way for the Breeder's Cup Championships at Del Mar.  There is a plethora of speed which should make the pace muy caliente.
