Superfecta Sunday in Oklahoma

We celebrate this Superfecta Sunday by taking a gander at the best little race from the great state of Oklahoma, The Oklahoma Derby.

Remmington Park Race 9 {Oklahoma Derby~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
An excellent cast of eight will go to the gate in this premiere race.  There is sufficient speed to keep the pace rolling.  The field consists of a group that are working hard to make their mark as they move into more challenging stakes races.  We will need to put together a posse of four to complete a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.  It should be a good race.

#7 Departing (Albarado / Stall) should be the deserved favorite with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two stout workouts.  He will need a strong pace set-up in order to compliment his tracking/closing running style.  This impressive lad is 100% in the money at this distance in four races.  Clearly the one to beat.

#4 Broadway Empire (Walcott / Diodoro) will challenge while being forwardly placed.  He holds the third highest last out speed number off a longer route and has put in two strenuous, peaking workouts.  This guy enjoys the surface and could be well positioned to say good-bye in the stretch.  He is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.

#2 Carve (Santana / Asmussen) is coming off a brief freshening with four superb, peaking workouts.  His last out speed numbers are decent, but he does have the third highest speed number at the distance.  Should a favorable pace develop, he will be closing hard.

#6 Cameo Appearance (L. Quinonez / Catalano) could wire this field with a comfortable pace on the front end.  He holds the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one swift workout.  This guy also holds the second highest speed number at the distance.

Stakes Saturday at Belmont Park

Today we take a look at some of the finest horses prepping for Breeder's Cup action come the first weekend in November.

Belmont Park Race 10 {Jockey Club Gold Cup Invitational~G1~1 1/4 mile~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A fantastic field of eight will line up in this annual Grade One route.  Among this incredibly talented field of winners is plenty of speed in this longer route to set-up nicely for a horse coming from off the pace.  There are five millionaires among the group with the remaining three on there way to becoming one.  This super talented field will no doubt offer fans an invigorating race.

#2 Orb (Castellano / McGaughey) looks ready to roll with the highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and three sound workouts.  The Kentucky Derby winner takes his shot at some of the older and equally talented runners.  From his tracking / closing running style he could emerge the victor.
$1 WIN / $2 PLACE / $3 SHOW.

#6 Flat Out (Alvarado / Mott) is the defending champion that will once again be up for this race.  He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and two superb workouts.  This fella performs best at Belmont and should be close to the pace, primed and ready to fly into the stretch.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.

#3 Last Gunfighter (Maragh / C. Brown) will be the surprise in here with a couple of solid last out speed numbers and four strong workouts.  As most in this field love the "Big Sandy", he does also.  Expect him to track what may be a fierce pace and gun it in the stretch.

#7 Palace Malice (Smith / Pletcher) will be in the hunt sharing the highest last out speed number, working a five race progression, and putting in three robust, peaking workouts.  He has the tactical speed to stay close to the pace and make an aggressive run coming into the stretch.

#8 Cross Traffic (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) should be the speed of the race with the fourth highest last out speed number and four sensational workouts.  He has yet to go this distance, but has the third highest speed number over the Belmont track.

California Friday

The Breeder's Cup is nearly a month away.  On this fantastic Friday, we take in a downhill Turf sprint at magnificent Santa Anita, this years Breeder's Cup host track.

Santa Anita Race 8 {Eddie D.~G3~6 1/2 furlongs~downhill TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A great field of twelve will go to the hill in this annual Turf dash.  There is significant speed to carry the field forward.  The entire field is well prepped with superb workouts.  It has the makings of a terrific race.

#5 Unbridled's Note (Nakatani / Asmussen) is coming off an ordinary layoff with a decent last out speed number.  He shares the highest speed number at the distance and has put in three strong workouts.  He has a versatile running style that should serve him well.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Chips All In (Leparoux / Mullins) will challenge with a decent last out speed number at a route and two hearty workouts.  He is the other that holds the highest speed number at this distance, over this course.  This guy should be part of the leaders charging down the hill.

Other Wagering Interests

#3 Caracortado (Gryder / Machowsky) is coming off a one year layoff.  He has done marvelously well coming off previous layoffs.  He holds the second highest speed number, was working two race progression, and has put in four excellent workouts.  This guy is quite capable of chasing down the leaders for the win.

#4 Boat Trip (Gomez / Pender) should be in the mix with a couple of good last out speed numbers and three hearty workouts.  He too should be tracking the field and swoop down into the stretch.

#12 Snowday [FR] (Bejarano / Mandella) comes into this one from racing in his native France.  He will fire fresh in his first North American start.  With reasonable success across the pond, he was working a three race progression prior to a normal layoff and has put in four stellar workouts.  The lad like to track the leaders.

Tapeta Thursday

We begin our horse racing weekend over the Tapeta surface at glorious Presque Isle Downs.

Presque Isle Downs Race 3 {5 1/2 furlongs~3 year old Up~Allowance}
A good group of ten will file in line for this early allowance feature.  There is solid speed and forwardly placed types in this sprint which should make for a very fast pace.  It should be one of the best sprint races on the day.

#6 Takkiddm (Vega / Bowman) could benefit from staying close to the pace with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and one power workout.  This guy is a specialist at this distance landing in the money 93% of the time in thirteen starts.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Dazzled Saint (Feliciano / Bourke) should challenge with the highest last out speed number and a two race progression.  This speedy guy is also a distance specialist with a 79% in the money record.  Look for him to share front running duties.

#2 Evil Doer (Morales / Stokes) will also challenge sharing the second highest last out speed number and posting one robust workout.  This guy loves the Tapeta surface, hitting the board 75% of the time.  Expect him to press/track the pace and explode into the stretch.

#1 August Rush [SAf] (Rodriguez / Benzel) could surprise coming off an extended layoff.  He was last seen in Dubai running the Tapeta surface there in a grade three sprint.  This lad has put in three stellar workouts prepping for this race.  He should be tracking the pace ready to take advantage of a hot pace.

Up North for Superfecta Sunday

Canada calls for this Superfecta Sunday.

Woodbine Race 8 {Overskate~7 furlongs~3 year old Up~ONT-C~Stakes}
A splendid field of eight will start in this stakes race.  The vast majority of the field likes to be forwardly placed which should make for a solid pace.  All have reasonable comparable speed numbers and all love the Woodbine polytrack.  It should be a dandy of an effort trying to stick together a winning 20 CENT Superfecta box ticket.  But try we must.

#8 Ultimate Destiny (Da Silva / Fehr) is much the horse to beat with the second highest (tie) last out speed number at a route and two gracious workouts.  He also holds the highest speed number at the distance and the second best in the money (74%) over the Woodbine track.

#2 Phil's Dream (Stein / Buttigieg) will challenge as one of the sprinters in the field.  He holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two sensational workouts.  He has the tactical speed to stay close and swoop down into the stretch.

#3 Pender Harbour (Campbell / DePaulo) could be one to watch as he is the class of the field.  He shares the second highest last out speed number at a mile route,  a two race progression, and one diligent workout.  If jockey, Jesse Campbell, can get him to settle nicely, this guy could come rumbling through the stretch with flourish.  He is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.

#4 Spirit Warnings (Contreras / Vassilieva) should be in the mix as one of the sprint specialists.  He posts the fourth highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two hearty workouts.  This guy holds the third highest speed number at the distance in which he was victorious.  Expect him to be forwardly placed.

Stakes Saturday in Pennsylvania

A very nice card pops out at Parx.  Today we look at a very contentious grade one race for three year-old fillies.

Parx Race 10 {Cotillion~G1~1 1/16 mile~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
A fantastic field of ten will line up for this annual graded stakes race.  There is plenty of speed and forwardly placed types to keep a scintillating pace.  Most in here have closely aligned speed numbers which will make a tough race to call.  All are coming out of strong races at some of North America's best tracks.  It should one of the best races during this month of September.

#5 Seaneen Girl (Lopez / Flint) looks ready to dual with this group. She comes into the race with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two sharp peaking workouts.  This daughter of Spring At Last should be forwardly placed ready to make her move.
$2 SHOW.

#9 Close Hatches (Smith / Mott) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four sensational peaking workouts.  She is ready to put her speed to the test.  This gal is the daughter of First Defence and has notched two victories at this distance in two races.

#2 Carnival Court (Saez / McLaughlin) should also challenge this group from the front end.  She holds the second highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and three hearty workouts. She is a daughter of the great Street Sense and cherishes a dirt surface.

Superfecta Sunday in Ole New Mexico

On this Superfecta Sunday we take a gander at a sprint race in the Permian Basin where the sweet smell of Black Gold is prevalent.

Zia Park Race 11 {6 furlongs~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~NM~Allowance}
A nice field of eight gals will tangle in the fine New Mexico dirt.  This race has a lone speed entrant along with a few that like to be forwardly placed.  A number in here are coming off layoffs including two with extended ones.  Let's try to drill down to capture a 10 CENT Superfecta Box.

#7 Desertsmagic (Juarez / Fincher) is one of those coming off a longer layoff, but appears ready to tangle with these.  She shares the highest last out speed number, is working a two race progression, and has put in two robust workouts.  This gal will close well into a strong pace.

#2 Piratz Stash (Madiera / Marr) is coming off a nice freshening as well as stretching out to a bit longer sprint.  She holds the third highest last out speed number and has put in two very solid workouts.  This gal is another that needs a swell pace to hit the stretch quickly.  She loves the dirt and will be making her first foray on the Zia track.  She is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.

Stakes Saturday Turf


On this wonderful Stakes Saturday we take in a vibrant TURF contest at bountiful Belmont.

A fabulous field of eleven fillies will saunter onto the grass for this annual affair.  There is ferocious speed on the inside with a few forwardly placed types sprinkled through the rest of the field.  It could be a hot pace benefitting those that like to come from off the pace.  The race should be a thrilling one.

#10 Watsdachances [IRE] (Castellano / C. Brown) looks ready to rumble with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and one solid workout.  She should be able to track and close swiftly.  This gal holds an 89% in the money record over the turf.  She also enjoys the Belmont green.

#2 Discreet Marq (Gomez / Clement) will challenge from the front end with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one robust workout.  She holds the second highest speed number at the distance and has notched a win at same.  This gal is another that loves the Belmont turf.

Friday OK Turf Sprint

It is Furlong Friday as we take in a TURF Sprint in the great state of Oklahoma.

A field of six geldings hit the TURF in this annual sprint.  Most have comparable speed numbers and all but one could be forwardly placed.  It should be a good TURF race.

#4 Stickrossmountain (Medina / Franklin) could have the edge with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one diligent workout.  He has a versatile running style that can benefit him greatly in this field.

#2 Pucker Up Pete (Worst / Trett) will challenge with the highest last out speed number and a five race progression.  He will vie for front runner status.  This guy also has the highest speed number at the distance notching a win at same.

Football season is here.  There is no better way to get in the game than to handicap a good TURF race.  On this Superfecta Sunday we take a look at such a race at Belmont Park.

#4 Lead Singer (Alvarado / Kimmel) is coming off a longer route in which he posted a decent speed figure and has put in two bullet workouts.  He should be forwardly placed and may cruise to victory or at least a good finish.

#6 Valid (Saez / McLaughlin) should be in the mix with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two superb workouts.  He is another that should be tracking the pace closely ready to swoop into the stretch.

Delaware Park R7.  Kent--G3.  Our first pick, Are You Kidding Me, won (1st) for win money of $4.80 and show money of $3.30.  Our second pick, Saint Vigeur, was scratched.  Our third pick, Majestic Jess [IRE], finished 5th.
Due to the scratched we bounced our 10 CENT Superfecta effort.  Superfecta went 2-3-7-4.

Stakes Saturday at Delaware

On this wonderful Stakes Saturday we take in a nice Turf route at Delaware Park.

Delaware Park Race 7 {Kent~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A truly equal group of eight will take to the TURF in this graded stakes race.  The field is coming in from all over the finest tracks along the East Coast.  All have comparable speed numbers over the surface and distance.  Any one of these guys could be victorious.  It should be a very exciting race.

#2 Are You Kidding Me (Maragh / Attfield) looks ready with the fourth highest (3-way tie) last out speed number and four superlative workouts.  He shares the second highest speed number with three others.  Expect him to run very close to the pace seeking to launch a strong drive in the stretch.

#8 Saint Vigeur (A. Castellano / C. Brown) will challenge with the second highest last out speed number prior to a two month freshening and four solid workouts.  This guy should also be close to the pace.  He has been in the money in all but one of his seven career starts.

#1 Majestic Jess [IRE] (McCarthy / Saville) could surprise with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one hearty workout.  Expect this one to track the pace and move quickly through the turn and into the stretch.

Friday Dirt Mile

A fabulous Friday is on tap.  We take a peek at a competitive dirt mile in Ol' Kentucky.

Churchill Downs Race 5 {1 mile~3 year old Up~Allowance}
A splendidly talented group of eight will march to the gate in this allowance feature in the Churchill Downs Fall opener.  There is a high level of speed to keep the pace moving swiftly.  It should be a classically competitive Churchill race.

#4 Hard Aces (McMahon / L. Jones) could have the edge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and three strong peaking workouts.  This fella may find himself in perfect position close to the pace and swoop through the stretch.

#1 Strike One (Lanerie / Walsh) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number and three powerful peaking workouts.  This guy has the versatility to show speed or back off and track the pace.  In either case he shares the highest speed number over the dirt surface.

Presque Isle Thursday

On this Thursday, our horse racing weekend begins with a comfortable sprint at Presque Isle Downs.

An equally matched field of ten will make their way onto the Tapeta surface for this Pennsylvania Allowance race.  There is plenty of speed to keep the pace quick.  It could be a good race to wager and watch.

#1 Candy Shack (Mello / Martin) is rested and ready with the third (tie) highest last out speed number coming off a route and three robust workouts.  He should be forwardly placed seeking advantage.

#4 Bold Curlin (Pino / Trombetta) will challenge sharing the third highest last out speed number at a route, working a four race progression, and putting in two strong workouts.  He should also be forwardly placed ready to strike.

Sweet Superfecta Sunday

Happy September!!  On this Superfecta Sunday we journey to Saratoga to take a look at a competitive grade one for the youngsters.

Saratoga Race 10 {Spinaway~G1~7 furlongs~2 year-old~fillies~Stakes}
A super competitive group of nine will jog to the gate in this annual grade one.  There is a ton of speed in here which may set up nicely for a gal coming from off the pace.  All of these youngsters will be stretching out to this longer sprint distance.  This race could be won by any of these talented girls.  Our task is to fashion a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#2 Bahnah (Lanerie / Calhoun) will be firing fresh with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and three solid peaking workouts.  She should be sitting close to the pace ready to strike in the stretch.  She is one of many in here that have notched a win over the Saratoga track.

#4 Sweet Reason (Solis / Gyarmati) will be making her second start after a terrific victory over a sloppy Saratoga track.  She sports the third highest last out speed number and has put in two superb workouts.  This gal has a breathtaking closing kick.  She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#1 Brazen Persuasion (Napravnik / Asmussen) is coming off a brief freshening sharing the fourth highest last out speed number. She can be expected to be part of the speed and has put in three strong peaking workouts.

#9 Sweet Whiskey (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) is another speedster that should hang on for the victory or a piece of the purse pie.  She holds the highest last out speed number in her only race and has put in two hearty peaking workouts.  This gal has the potential to wire the field.

Due to a scratch that further shortened the field, there was no Superfecta offered.
