Superfecta Sunday in Tampa

After some significantly good Derby preps on Stakes Saturday, we venture to the other side of Florida for some Turf action.

Tampa Bay Downs Race 10 {1 1/16 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Claiming}
An experienced group of ten racers take to the grass in the last of the day.  Speed?  There is none. These lads will be clumped up around the track until a quickening into the stretch. The speed numbers appear to be fairly close. It should make for a very challenging 10 CENT Superfecta box play.

#7 Alandtom (Homeister / Bradley) might have the edge coming off a longer route with a fair speed number and two solid workouts. He holds the third best speed at the distance and is 62% in the money at same. He should be closer to the pace than most in here. This guy is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

Furlong Friday at Santa Anita

On to the West Coast for a highly competitive six furlong dash.

Santa Anita Park Race 7 {6 furlongs~3 year-old~fillies~CA~Allowance Optional Claiming}
A talented group of eleven will go to the gate in this featured allowance race. This one is stacked with speed which might benefit those able to come from off the pace. These are all improving ladies. Of which any one of them is capable of pulling off the victory. It should be a hotly contested race.

#7 Sheer Pleasure (M. Garcia / Hollendorfer) might be able to get to the wire first if she can sit close to the pace and launch into the stretch. She holds the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three dynamite workouts. In her two race career she has shown speed in a sprint going away with a win and has closed in a route finishing fourth. That win came at this distance.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#9 Heat the Rocks (Trujillo / Hollendorfer) is another that could come away with the win. She holds the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four sensational workouts. She is one that likes to stay in close contact to the pace and unfurl her heat.

#11 Lost Bus (Smith / Heap) should contend coming off a longer layoff. She holds the highest last out speed number in a stakes race at this distance, was working a three race progression, and has put in two fabulous workouts. This gal appears ready to fire from off the pace.

#1 Grand Yodeler (Bejarano / Puype) looks to take another improvement step forward with a couple of decent last out speed numbers that earned her victories. She is working a three race progression and has put in four terrific workouts. Like many in this race she will feel the need for speed.

Horse Racing Weekend begins on Turf

We go to the Turf for the start of our Horse Racing Weekend.

Gulfstream Park Race 9 {7 1/2 furlongs~TURF~3 year old~fillies~Starter Allowance}
A grand field of nine fillies will hit the Turf in this feature race. There is enough speed to keep an honest pace. Most of these gals have not yet gone this unique distance as it falls between a sprint and a route. The posted speed numbers indicate this should be a very close race.

#9 Quiet Kitten (Lopez / Campitelli) should be able to make this three wins in a row. She holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and one stout workout. This gal has already achieved victory at the distance. She has the tactical speed to see how the pace develops and then swoop in for the win.
$1 WIN  /  $1 SHOW.

#1 My Little Darlings (Rosario / Maker) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two robust workouts. A daughter of Purim, she will be close to the pace seeking to strike in the stretch. She is coming in fresh after a brief layoff as she stretches out to this distance.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#5 Twist 'n Bake (R. Hernandez / Tharrenos) should be the speed of the field with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three superb workouts. She loves the Gulfstream Turf and has the ability to wire this field.

#7 Danube River (Zayas / Escobar) should be in the mix with the fourth highest last out speed number at a route and two hearty workouts. She has already scored a win at this distance in two tries. Should the pace go hot, this gal will be in perfect position to close swiftly.

Superfecta Sunday on the Turf

Hard to believe the horse racing weekend comes to a close already. Today we look at a fine Maiden Special Weight race on the Turf.

Santa Anita Race 7 {1 mile~TURF~3 year-old~fillies/mares~Maiden Special Weight}
A good crop of ten will take to the grass with another four on the outside looking in. The entire group looks well prepped to break their maiden. It comes up a little light on speed which should make for a fascinating race. Our task is to forge together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#9 Housemaker [GB] (Bejarano / O'Neill) will make her first North American start after two successful races across the pond. She finished second in both. This gal could be the front runner that has the potential to wire the field. Her last out was a longer route prior to a few months rest.

#10 Meta Mu (T. Baze / Mulhall) should challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two grand workouts. She is 100% in the money in her four starts which adds to her luster. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#4 Awesome Diamond [IRE] (Prat / Biancone) should be in the mix with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and two superb peaking workouts. She has already hit the board at this distance and holds the second highest (tie) speed number at same.

#6 Danette (Desormeaux / Desormeaux) should be in the hunt as she steps onto the grass for the first time. She holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two strong workouts. Despite not winning her maiden in eight tries, she has hit the board four times.
