Back to Keeneland for Superfecta Sunday

 We look in on a great Turf race at that very special race track, Keeneland.

Keeneland Race 6 {1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Allowance}

A reduced field of nine will hit the grass in this mid-card race.

This one comes up a little light on speed. Consequently, one could expect a terrific quickening coming into the stretch. Speed numbers are fairly close. Only four have raced over the Keeneland course. Additionally, only five have gone this distance. All have experience over the Turf. It should be an exciting race on another great card.

#9 Queen Regent [GB] (Gaffalione / B. Walsh) will be making her second North American start. She holds the third highest last out speed number and three solid workouts. She has raced this distance in Great Britain. Look for her to track and strike in the stretch. A daughter of Roaring Lion, she is 77% in the money from nine starts.

This gal will also be part of the tracking contingent. She has also raced over the Keeneland Turf. A daughter of Uncle Mo, she is 30% in the money from ten starts.

#8 Marksman Queen [GB] (Dettori / Motion) will be part of the speed group with the fourth highest last out speed number and three hearty workouts. She has recorded the most wins of this group. A daughter of Dubawi [IRE], she is 50% in the money from ten starts.

A Stakes Saturday Grade One at Keeneland

 Nothing better than a Keeneland Autumn. On this Stakes Saturday we turn our attention to a fine grade one on the Turf for the Fillies.

Keeneland Race 8 {Queen Elizabeth II Cup~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Fillies~graded Stakes}

A highly talented group of ten will hit the green in this annual affair.

There is enough speed and forwardly placed types to carry the pace forward. Speed figs are relatively close making it quite competitive. Two Euros will be making their first North American start. Only four have raced over the Keeneland course. Five have competed at this distance while one has raced at a longer distance. The rest will stretch out. It should be a very exciting race to wager and watch.

#10 Candala [FR] (Geroux / Grafford) will hit the North American Turf for the first time. She hit the board in France in her last two races. This gal has an affinity for the Turf and should compete well with this crowd. A daughter of Frankel [GB], she is 83% in the money from six starts.

Superfecta Sunday in Sweet Home Chicago

 On this Superfecta Sunday we look in on a fine Turf stakes in Chicagoland.

Hawthorne Race Course Race 7 {Hawthorne Derby~1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Stakes}

A great group of twelve will hit the grass in this annual contest.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is enough speed in this Derby to produce an efficient pace. Speed figs are very close. Only one entrant has raced over the Hawthorne course. Additionally, only four have gone this distance. Two will be racing over the Turf for the first time. It should be a fantastic race on a great day of racing across the country.

#7 Tough Little Nut (O. Mojica / C. Block) has hit the same speed fig in his last three races and has put in two power workouts. He has hit the board in all three of races over the Hawthorne Turf. This guy will stretch out to the distance. Look for him to track the pace and strike in the stretch. A son of Palace Malice, he is 57% in the money from seven starts.

Stakes Saturday at Keeneland

 A number of quality stakes races for the youngsters go off this weekend. We look in on a great one down in Kentucky.

Keeneland Race 9 {Clairborne Breeders' Futurity~G1~1 1/16 mile~2 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A good field of eleven will enter the gate in this annual event.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

This will be the first effort over the Keeneland track for all of the entrants in this field. Only two have gone this distance, the rest will be stretching out. There is enough speed to produce an honest pace. Speed numbers are very close. All can be expected to improve as they embark in earnest on their racing career. It should be a very exciting race on a fully stocked card.

#1 Ferocious (L. Saez / Delgado) is the deserved favorite with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and three powerful workouts. This colt has posted the only triple digit speed number while winning at first asking. He should sit in right behind the leaders ready to rock. A son of Flatter, he is 100% in the money from two starts.

#9 Tenacious Leader (Geroux / Pletcher) last competed at this distance scoring the third highest last out speed number and has two superb workouts. This guy should track the pace closely.
