A Turf Sprint for Stakes Saturday

 On this Stakes Saturday we take in a fabulous Turf Sprint Handicap down at Ol' Del Mar.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 9 {Daisycutter Handicap~Five Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Stakes}

A solid field of ten will hit the green in this annual affair.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is sufficient speed to produce an honest pace. Speed numbers are fairly close making the race competitive. Only two will try the Del Mar course for the first time. Three will attempt this distance for the first time. All are well prepped via their workouts for the race. It should be a great race on another exciting Del Mar card.

#6 Uncorked [AUS] (Prat / D'Amato) should track the pace closely and spring into the stretch. She holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and has four supreme peaking workouts. Turf near the Surf Superfecta Sunday

 We venture to where the "Turf meets the Surf" for a fantastic Turf Stakes race.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 9 {Osunitas Stakes~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Stakes}

A competitive edition of this annual affair features eleven ladies ready for the green.

There is plenty of speed and forwardly placed types to keep the pace flowing. Speed numbers are very close. Only three have yet to run over the Del Mar Turf. All have competed at this distance. It should be a superb race on a exceptional Superfecta Sunday card.

#12 Lunar Impact [GB] (Berrios / Blacker) holds three successive triple digit speed numbers and four tremendous peaking workouts. She should battle among the leaders on the front-end. This gal appears to be ready for a big race despite being moored on the outside. A daughter of Zoustar [AUS], she is 45% in the money from eleven starts.

#7 Raw Ability [IRE] (Cheminaud / Sadler) will show improvement as she attempts to get back to the winner's circle. This gal has put in four strong workouts. Stakes Saturday in Virginia

We look in on a good stakes race in Virginia. 

Colonial Downs Race 9 {Star De Naskra Stakes~7 Furlongs~3 year-old~VA/MD Bred or Sired}

An average field of eight will go to the gate in this feature race.

There is sufficient speed to produce an honest pace. Speed numbers are very close. Only three have raced over the Colonial track.  One horse will be stretching out to this longer sprint distance. All have raced very well over a dirt surface. It should be a fun race to wager and watch on a great Stakes Saturday of racing.

#5 Barbadian Runner (F. Boyce / Walters) comes to the race with the highest last out speed number at a route and two sound workouts. This guy loves the dirt and is 100% in the money at the distance making him a specialist. Look for him to be part of the tracker pack. A son of Barbados, he is 78% in the money from fourteen starts.

Superfecta Sunday in the Pea Patch

 On this Superfecta Sunday we venture into the "Pea Patch" for some great stakes action.

Ellis Park Race 8 {Pea Patch Stakes~5 1/2 Furlongs~3 year-old~Filly~Stakes}

A reduced field of nine will hit the green in this annual affair.

A plethora of speed will make the pace sizzling. Speed numbers are fairly close with three runners having hit the triple-digit mark. Only one entrant has run over the Ellis Park course. Two will drop from graded stakes events and one will attempt this distance for the first time. It should be a nice race on a Sunday of great racing.

#12 Mae Town (Geroux / B. Lynch) comes in seeking her third win in a row. She won last out at this distance sharing the highest last out speed number. This gal loves the Turf. One decent workout helps her cause. Look for her to track the pace closely and strike in the stretch. A daughter of Mo Town, she is 100% in the money from four starts.

Indiana Derby Day

 We go to the heartland for some great racing on this Stakes Saturday.

Horseshoe Indianapolis {Indiana Derby~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A reduced field of seven will go to the gate in this annual Summer Derby.

A competitive field will battle for the win in this annual event. Speed figs are fairly close. There is plenty speed to carry forward a fast pace. Only one has raced over the Indy track. Four have run at this distance, the others will be stretching out. It should be a fine race.

#1 Publisher (M. Smith / Asmussen) should get his first career win. He drops out of the Grade one Kentucky Derby and has put in four superb peaking workouts. This guy loves the distance.
