Superfecta Sunday in Texas

On this glorious Superfecta Sunday we take a look at a wonderful Turf race deep in the heart of Texas.

Lone Star Park Race 9 {1 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Fillies/Mares~Claiming}

A good bunch of Turfer Gals will strut onto the Turf in this last on the card feature. There is plenty of speed to keep an honest pace. Speed numbers are not that far off from each other. All but two are dropping into this one for a lower tag. It should be a great race. Our task is to lasso a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket.

#5 Beta Baby (Cabrera / Salisbury) should move forward with the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four stellar workouts. She should be traveling close to the pace seeking to make her move. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#7 My Sharp Misty (Collier / Fullerton) should take another step up with the highest last out speed number and two peaking workouts. She should also set-up close to the pace and spring forward going into the stretch.

#9 Rue Royale (McMahon / Broberg) will challenge with a couple of good last out performances. She holds a win over the Lone Star turf in her only start on it. She should be closing gracefully into a heated pace.

#8 Mystical Charm (Valdez-Jiminez / Pruitt) should contend with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one sharp workout. She has some tactical speed which should serve her well in this finale.

Stakes Saturday in the Midwest Heat

We will enjoy our Stakes Saturday under sunny skies and terrific warmth.

Arlington International Race 6 {Chicago Handicap~G3~7 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A great crop of nine talented ladies will go to the gate in this annual affair. There is enough speed to maintain an honest pace. Speed numbers are fairly close which should make for a competitive event. A couple of these gals are exited grade ones. It should be a great race on the Arlington poly-track.

#5 Sarah Sis (Valdivia / Mason) might have the edge with the highest speed number at this distance and four spectacular workouts. She is 100% in the money over the Arlington surface from two tries. A daughter of Sharp Humor, this gal should be forwardly placed ready to strike.

#8 Minks Aprise (A. Solis / Dickinson) is the California invader that will mount a serious challenge with the second highest last out speed number over the downhill Turf at Santa Anita. She has put in three sharp peaking workouts in preparation. This daughter of Northern Afleet will cruise along ready to quicken going into the stretch.

#9 Seeking Treasure (F. Torres / Mathews) should contend with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two superb workouts. She is dropping in from a mile Turf run. A daughter of Run Away and Hide she should close furiously with the right pace.

Superfecta Sunday on the Jersey Shore

Off we go to the Jersey shore for a great graded stakes race.

Monmouth Park Race 10 {Pegasus~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A bold group of seven will go to the gate in this annual event. There are five Triple Crown nominees ready to go. Plenty of speed may make for a scintillating pace. Speed numbers are fairly close. It should be a excellent race. Our task is to weave together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#4 Unified (J. Ortiz / Jerkens) is the horse to beat. He holds the second highest last out speed number and four superlative peaking workouts. This guy should be forwardly placed waiting to cut out from the leaders. Not much value can be expected as he is likely to go off at even odds.

#7 Abiding Star (Acosta / Allard) should be able to get back at it after a disappointing performance in the Preakness. He holds the highest speed number at the distance and two stout workouts. He should be involved deeply in the pace scenario. A nice improvement should be expected. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#6 Donegal Moon (Bravo / Pletcher) should contend especially with a hot pace. This guy holds the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two sound workouts. He should travel comfortably close to the pace ready to strike.

#2 Extinct Charm (D. Davis / B. Brown) could surprise with a couple of very good last out speed figs, a three race progression, and one strong workout. This lad will benefit greatly from a sizzling pace. He does hold two victories from four tries at this distance.

A Twilight Stakes Saturday

On this Stakes Saturday, we take in a superb graded stakes race down in Louisville, Kentucky.

Churchill Downs Race 8 {Stephen Foster~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A modest field of seven will go to the gate in this annual affair. There is bountiful speed to insure a serious pace. Speed figs are all very close making for a highly competitive race. Three millionaires make their appearance to class up this talented field. It should be one of the most exciting races of the day.

#7 Eagle (B. Hernandez / Howard) could have the edge with a fine closing effort. He holds a couple of good last out speed numbers, the highest speed number at the distance, and four tremendous peaking workouts. This son of Candy Ride [ARG], has an impressive in the money record of 85% from fourteen starts.

#3 Effinex (Stevens / Jerkens) should pose a mighty challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four powerful peaking workouts. This multi-millionaire son of Mineshaft, holds the second highest speed number at the distance. He should be pressing the pace.

Superfecta Sunday along the Jersey Shore

We turn our attention to a lively Turf sprint along the Jersey shore for Superfecta Sunday.

Monmouth Park Race 10 {Select Stakes~5 1/2 Furlongs~TURF~3 year-old~Stakes}

A good group of well-bred Turfers will take to the Jersey green. There is some speed to give the race an honest pace. Speed numbers are very close which should give it a degree of competitiveness. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket.

#8 Full Salute (P. Lopez / Plesa) might have the edge with a winning last out effort, a two race progression, and two strong peaking workouts. He should be close to the pace ready to strike heading into the turn. This lad has an impressive 77% in the money record from nine starts. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#1 Henry the King (Juarez / Sacco) should challenge as he moves from dirt to Turf with the third highest last out speed number at a longer sprint, a three race progression, and four superb workouts. He should be tracking the pace ready for the quickening.

#2 Bobcat (Toledo / Capuano) will contend with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two fine workouts. He will be taking his two career victories from two starts to the Turf. He should be the speed of the speed.

#6 Expected Ruler (Osorio / Benson) should be in the mix with a couple of very good last out performances, a five race progression, and one solid workout. This guy sports the highest speed number at this distance. He should be coming from off a swift pace.

A Belmont State of Mind

The third leg of the Triple Crown, The Belmont Stakes.

Belmont Park Race 11 {Belmont Stakes~G1~1 1/2 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A very talented field of thirteen will got to the gate in this highly competitive event.

#11 Exaggerator (Desormeaux / Desormeaux) is the one to beat with three triple digit speed numbers in a row.

#2 Destin (Castellano / Pletcher) will make another step forward with three impressive peaking works. He holds a triple digit speed number.

#1 Governor Malibu (Rosario / Clement) will contend with a seven race progression and two power works.

#12 Brody's Cause (L. Saez / Romans) should also contend with a stamina producing workout tab. He should be there in the end.

#10 Lani (Take / Matsunaga) is still an improving horse for the Japanese connections. Should be able to finish well.

Superfecta Sunday on Downhill Turf

A perfect Superfecta Sunday as we go downhill on the Turf at the "Great Race Place".

Santa Anita Park Race 9 {Starter Handicap~6 1/2 Furlongs~downhill TURF~3 year-old Up}

A good crop of eight runners will gallop down the Santa Anita hillside Turf course. There is a great deal of speed in play. Speed numbers are extremely close giving every horse in this field a chance to walk into the winners circle. Our task is to cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#8 Infinite Magic (Prat / West) looks to be in great form and could pull off the victory with sufficient speed up front. He holds the third highest last out speed number at a route and has put in three good stamina building workouts. This lad should be tracking the pace from the outside post. he is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#4 Rangi [GB] (Bejarano / Baltas) should be forwardly placed seeking to triumph with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and two handy workouts. This guy loves the distance and the Santa Anita turf.

#5 Incline Village (Pereira / Koriner) shares the second highest last out speed number, is working a three race progression, and has put in two sturdy workouts. This guy should be part of the large forwardly placed contingent.

#3 Image of Joplin (Talamo / Chew) should be in the mix with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three superb workouts. With a solid start he could grab the lead and not let go.

Belmont Park R8.  Pennine Ridge--G3.  Our first pick, Camelot Kitten, won (1st) for win money of $2.90, place money of $3.00, and show money of $3.25.  Our second pick, Highland Sky, finished 2nd for place money of $1.75 and show money of $2.60.  Our third pick, Call Provision, finished 3rd for show money of $2.20.
Punching up the "ALL" button on the fourth position of our 10 CENT Superfecta captured a nice payout of $117.60. Superfecta went 2-5-7-9.

Stakes Saturday at Belmont Park

We begin our horse racing weekend on Stakes Saturday. Today we take in a lively Turf contest at magnificent Belmont Park.

Belmont Park Race 8 {Pennine Ridge~G3~1 1/8 mile~innner TURF~3 year old~Graded Stakes}

A talented field of ten will strut onto the green in this spectacular Turf contest. It comes up a little light on speed making for a fine positioning battle among these foes. Speed numbers are relatively close which gives any one a chance at victory. Only one in the field has gone this distance. It should be a marvelous Turf race.

#2 Camelot Kitten (I. Ortiz / C. Brown) should be capable of winning a second in a row provided there is ample speed. He holds the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two sturdy workouts. This son of Kitten's Joy should hit stride in his third start of the form cycle. He should close swiftly.

#5 Highland Sky (L. Saez / Tagg) will challenge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and four high quality workouts. This lad will be stretching out to this distance. He does hold the highest speed number over the Turf. A son of Sky Mesa, he will join in the fun, closing hard.

#7 Call Provision (J. Ortiz / C. Brown) should contend making his second career start after scoring a victory last out covering a slightly shorter route. He earned a respectable speed number in that race and should improve upon it. This lad could close earnestly with the rest of the quickening crowd. He is a son of Lemon Drop Kid.

#6 Dressed in Hermes (Cancel / Armstrong) should be in the hunt with a couple of excellent last out speed numbers and two striking bullet workouts. He will travel over the Belmont Turf for the first time. This son of Hat Trick [JPN] could be forwardly placed ready to strike going into the stretch.
