A Turfy Superfecta Sunday

We go to "where the Turf meets the Surf" on this Superfecta Sunday.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 8 {La Jolla Handicap~G3~1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A hard charging crew of eight will hit the grass in this annual event. There is some speed to maintain a fluid pace. Speed numbers are very, very close among this group. It should be a highly competitive event giving any one of these fellas a chance to shine in the winners circle. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#7 Sharp Samurai (Stevens / Glatt) looks much the best with the second highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and two stamina producing workouts. This lad should be close to the pace and strike early in the stretch. He could be the odds on favorite.

#4 Pioneer Lad (T. Baze / Baltas) should challenge with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a five race progression, and three superb peaking workouts. He is another that should be forwardly placed off the speed. This guy appears to yearn for the Turf. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#2 Colonist (Prat / Hollendorfer) should contend with the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and three hearty workouts. A Triple Crown nominee this year, he will be making his first Turf effort.

#3 Placido (Bejarano / Callaghan) will be stretching out with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and three high quality workouts. He should be in the tracking flight ready to spring into the stretch.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

#7 Sharp Samurai  +  #4 Pioneer Lad  +  #2 Colonist  +  #3 Placido.
