Furlong Friday at Belmont Opening

One of the greatest horse racing venues opens its primary season on this Furlong Friday. We take a look at a fine Allowance race for New York bred fillies and mares.

Belmont Park Race 7 {6 Furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~NY~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A great group of seven will go to the gate in this evenly matched sprint. There is speed to ensure a solid pace heading into the turn. Speed figs are fairly close which should make it a grand handicapping venture. A fantastic sprint race for opening day at the "Big Sandy".

#4 Sandy Belle (McCarthy / Schosburg) is coming off a brief freshening with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and four solid workouts. She posts the highest speed fig at the distance and enjoys the Belmont track. This gal has the speed to take them wire to wire.
$1 WIN  /  $2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#1 Playinwiththeboys (Cancel / C. Baker) should challenge with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three superb workouts. This gal is 100% in the money from all ten of her races. She should be forwardly placed ready to strike when the real racing begins.

#6 Mizzen Max (J. Velazquez / Nevin) will contend with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and a strong four work tab. She should run very close to the pace and swing lithely into the stretch. Another Belmont lover.

#7 Tiznow's Smile (Bravo / C. Baker) comes off an extended layoff ready to race. She holds the second highest speed number at the distance and has put in four supreme peaking workouts for her return to the track. Last raced at Saratoga, she too is a lover of Belmont.
