Great Stakes Saturday up in Canada

Today, we look in on the best Turf course in North America, as the horses go long up in Toronto.

Woodbine Race 11 {Northern Dancer~G1~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~graded Stakes}

A spectacular and talented field of ten will go off in this annual contest. There is enough speed to keep a glowing pace. Speed numbers are fairly close among this group giving them each the chance for a breakthrough performance. Only one millionaire among the field. It should be one of the best TURF races on the day.

#10 Patterson Cross (Rosario / Mott) might pull the upset here with the highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route and two strong workouts. This lad loves the turf and the distance. He comes in from Saratoga where he should be tracking the pace. A son of Arch, he is 57% in the money from fourteen starts.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#6 Tiz a Slam (Bahen / Attfield) could surprise with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and two superb workouts. This guy is has visited the winners circle six times and loves the Woodbine course. A son of Tiznow, he has the speed to be the controlling pace.
He should be in the thick of it from the bell.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#5 Hawkbill (Spencer / C. Appleby) should go off as the favorite with three reasonably successful last races across the pond. This lad loves the distance having hit the board 80% of the time. A son of Kitten's Joy, he has the tactical speed to stay the course. He is the lone millionaire in the field.
$1 SHOW.

#1 Mekhtaal [GB] (J. Ortiz / Motion) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number and four stamina producing workouts. He relishes the TURF and the Woodbine course. A son of Sea the Stars [GB], he should track and close gallantly. Should the pace collapse, he could be the first on the wire.
