An Arkansas Superfecta Sunday

 We take in an Arkansas dirt route on this Superfecta Sunday.

Oaklawn Park Race 8 {1 1/16 mile~4 year-old Up~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A reduced field of nine will go to the gate in this penultimate race on the card.

There is a sufficient number of forwardly placed types to keep the pace honest. Speed numbers are fairly close making it competitive. All have raced over the Oaklawn track. It should be a good race on a great day of racing on this Superfecta Sunday.

#10 Sir Greylind (Leparoux / McPeek) is the deserved favorite coming out of a Stakes race and dropping in distance. He shares the highest last out speed number and has two superb workouts. #6 Archie the Giza (Santana / Medina) could surprise exiting a stakes race and cutting back in distance. He shares the fourth highest last out speed number and two solid peaking workouts. This guy has won over the Oaklawn track. This guy is another that will track the pace closely. A son of Cairo Prince, he is 30% in the money from thirteen starts.

A Risen Star Stakes Saturday

 A fabulous Fair Grounds card is in the offing on this Stakes Saturday as we look at another Derby points prep, The Risen Star.

Fair Grounds Race 14 {Risen Star~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A fantastic field of twelve will go to the gate in search of Kentucky Derby points.

All in this field will stretch out in distance. This is a key Derby prep race. All seem to be well prepped to race well. Speed figures are fairly close. There is plenty of speed to churn a strong pace. Half the field has raced over the Fair Ground track. Only one will try the dirt for the first time. It should be a terrific race to cap off a superb card.

#4 East Avenue (Gaffalione / B. Walsh) is the deserved favorite. It is hard to get around him as the choice for victory. He should be the controlling speed and could wire the field. Others may press, but his four super strong workouts show he should prevail. This will be his first start this year. He does have the highest speed number of the field. A son of Medaglia d'Oro, he holds a 66% win rate from three starts.

Happy Super Bowl Sunday

 On this Superbowl Sunday, we look at a fine Stakes race at that "Great Race Place".

Santa Anita Park Race 7 {Sweet Life Stakes~downhill TURF~3 year-old~Fillies~Stakes}

A field of nine will saunter up to the start of the unique downhill course.

There is plenty of speed to get this one rolling down the hill. Speed numbers are very close making it super competitive. None of the entrants have raced on the downhill course. Two have raced at this distance. Two will be stretching out and the rest will be cutting back in distance. All are well prepped for the race. It should be a fantastic race.

#3 Schilflied (Berrios / Gallagher) should track the pace closely and glide into the stretch. She comes in with the second highest last out speed number and two sound peaking workouts. This gal has won at this distance but will try the hillside course for the first time. She is one of seven cutting back in distance from her list. More Derby Points down in Tampa

On this Stakes Saturday we look in on another Kentucky Derby prep down in Tampa, Florida.

Tampa Bay Downs Race 11 {Sam F. Davis~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Stakes}

A quality field of ten will go to the gate in this annual event. Derby points are on the line.

There is plenty of speed to develop a frothy pace. One entrant has gone this distance and another will be cutting back. The rest of the field will be stretching out. All are reasonably well prepped. Seven of the ten in the field have hit the board in all of their starts. It should be a very competitive race.

A Superfecta Sunday Turf Sprint

 They hit the Turf down in New Orleans. We look in on a competitive sprint on the green for the ladies.

Fair Grounds Race 7 {5 1/2 furlongs~TURF~4 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Allowance}

A delightful field of ten ladies will hit the grass in the penultimate race on the Fair Grounds card.

There is plenty of speed in this Turf sprint to create a supreme pace. Speed numbers are very close. Only three will run the Fair Grounds course for the first time. Also, two will try this distance for the first time. All seem to be well prepped to make their run. It should be a fantastic race to wager and watch.

#9 Don't Say It (Geroux / B. Cox) will track and close into a sizzling pace. She comes in with the third highest last out speed number and two fine workouts. She has hit the board in both of her starts at this distance. A daughter of Jimmy Creed, she is 50% in the money from six starts.

Let's Go to GP for Stakes Saturday

 We journey down to South Florida for a great grade three sprint for the fillies.

Gulfstream Park Race 12 {Forward Gal Stakes~G3~7 Furlongs~3 year-old~Fillies~Graded Stakes}

A very nice field of eleven will go to the gate in this annual affair.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is plenty of speed in this race with the potentially speediest to the outside. Speed figs are fairly close. Only four have yet to run over the Gulfstream track. Interestingly only three have gone this distance. The rest will be either be stretching out or cutting back in distance. All have raced over dirt. It should be a great race to cap off a fabulous day of racing at Gulfstream Park.

#7 Eclatant (L. Saez / B. Cox) will take advantage of the furious pace by sitting right off the pacesetters and launch into the stretch. He exits a grade two route and has posted four strong workouts. It will be his first start over the Gulfstream dirt. A son of Into Mischief, he 100% in the money from three starts.

#5 Beyond Belief (Castellano / Colletti) has hit the board in her only attempt at this distance. She comes in with the fourth highest last out speed number and three superb workouts.
